@yasaryousafzai i think it refers to Dashrath from Ramayan. Ram's father. he made a promise to his wife which later caused Ram to go on exile. I am not sure but i think he is trying to say that he is willing to give her a promise as significant as Dasrath's promise to Kaykayi if only she would wake up again.

Very sad end of the movie. Also a lesson for those girls who blindly fall in love with gangsters n a lesson for those men who blindly punish their loved ones. This song brings tears in my eyes.

The point is not that she didn't cheat on him, but that he killed her. You have no right to hurt a person, even if they cheat on you. Just dump that person and that's it. It's not like anybody owns anybody.

@platosfriend I agree with you but this is why it made sense for Omkara to be a gangster. Realistically, we can imagine a gangster as a man of absolutes- 'mess with me and I'll kill you' kind of person. I don't agree w/his actions, but I could easily see a gangster going crazy w/ jealousy and killing his girl, even if he loved her- then killing himself when he found out she was innocent. It wouldn't make sense if Omkara were a policeman, so d director made a gud choice in Othello as a gangster.

@sakiguzman, while I think the movie is powerful and beautifully acted, I don't quite agree that switching Shakespeare's original intent (Othello is a hero to all) needed to be done. Shakespeare's point was that this type of prideful anger can happen in anyone, twisted by the wrong influence. One has the responsibility to control one's own emotions, whether hero or gangster.
