hey, man great video...quick question, i am attempting this my self for an assignment of mine, and I was wondering how you did the stills, where the a photographs taken individually, or are the stills from you just moving the camera around in the sphere and rendering a shot. Also how did you do your ground plane?
wow! dude looks very ver good nice job, am learing 3ds max myself and just started so i wasndering how did you make that awosme car it looks so real when you put in the background, and yea how did you put the car in the background? its amazing you got any tutorials? thanks anyways, i sub ^-^
nice work, I was trying to find this background online but couldn't find it anywhere could you please specify where did you get this background from? Thanks.
how do u get such relistic renders? i have really good models but i dont know anything about rendering? could u tell me what setting u used for that model and i will try it on mine? to see if they work? i have tried setting from other people that look really good in there renders but i dont know how to render so can u give me a brief explanationa bout rendering or a link to a place to learn??
modeling a car is alot easier then modeling a character in a way. its not hard to add detail into it once you have learned how max works. btw is it ok if i ask why youve used mental ray rather then vray. looks good though
@metroid557 My guess would be that he applied a material to the ground the car is on so that only the shadow renders (matte shadow material or something like that. I can't remember what's the material is called).. Then he added the background. watch v=1TcdGBs5VoY
@metroid557 Using Adobe After Effects you can simply place the 3d object exported file from 3D max/Autodesk Maya and then place it in a video or on a picture, like in this video. :) I am learning Autodesk too :)
@kmanmx as I told OOwonder: Evermotion's tutorials. They are among the best in the industry, and they cover everything in filed of your interest. For example when it comes to car modeling, they help you not just with car body, but they teach you how to do the rest of details on your model, so you can have full result that will look like this. Follow each step, practice and you'll be even better than I am.
@ngluvakov hi i am fairly new to 3dsmax and have looked at evermotion site but cant find any car tuturials like you described, could you point me in the right direction thanks
@mafiaknin It was a long time ago now, so I don't have any exact nor approximate time to give you. It was done in Mental ray. It is my renderer of choice.
@NeoIsrafil hi i was wondering i'm getting maya 2009 and well was wondering if my pc is up 4 de task basically my pc is 240AMD OC@3Ghz 9800GT 512mb 4Gb DDR2 Windows 7 my screen is 17" widescreen
@OOwonder Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to make one, but I can recommend what helped me to build my models. Evermotion's tutorials. They are among the best in the industry, and they cover everything in filed of your interest. For example when it comes to car modeling, they help you not just with car body, but they teach you how to do the rest of details on your model, so you can have full result that will look like this. Follow each step, practice and you'll be even better than I am.
this looks awesome... but when you put it in the scene it doesnt look like it belongs in there.. check your blacks. itd be easier if you render out seperate passes and comp it.
@starkcogent Quite long, but it is fun to do that. I don't have time to do that now, so I can't promise anything newer or better. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
btw i have a question... at 0:44 for example .. how did u rende it :-/ ? bcs id like to know ... u render the car then u make the background in photoshop or :-/ ... im pretty good at modeling but at rendering i suck :P ... and for that i asking u this :) .. thx
It's combination of HDRI and matte/shadow/reflection material. Material should receive no GI and have environent map. After that, exposure control should be activated for background and environment map.

Do your computer specs have to be really high to model this kind of stuff (I don't mean render, I mean when you're modelling)?
starkcogent 2 years ago
not really
SANTIAGO103094 2 years ago
Not really high, but you would want a decent computer or you will be very annoyed with the amount of time it takes you to do the work.
I've done reasonably high poly modeling on an older amd single core laptop (around 2ghz,1g ram) but it sure takes forever.
