The McLarens that Kimi drove were such pieces of junk. I've never seen F1 equipment fail so frequently and so dramatically in the past decade. Kimi should have been F1 world champion more than once. Too bad those McLarens were such junk.

I don't know what Adrian Newey was thinking with the whole "dolphine" project when he pretty much optimized every component for speed to beat Ferrari. Why do you need that much speed if chances are that you might not even cross the finishline? You still only got 10 points even if you were 2 laps ahead of everyone else. :P

Perhaps, but they say it's easier to design a really quick car and find the reliability later, than design a reliable car and then try find speed in that one.

Besides, Formula 1 is the epitome of motorsport development and they really need to push the envelope when it comes to radical new design.

In the 60's, 70's and 80's Ferrari played it safe and only refined inventions other teams had pioneered years before them. That is not F1, and Colin Chapman of Lotus would agree.

@McLarenMercedes There's a difference between building a quick car to make reliable later on and building a quick car which is so extreme that no consideration has been taken to reliability what so ever. It was as if they just wanted to make all the parts as light as possible and didn't use common sense. In that way you can never make the car reliable without losing the speed since you basicly have to replace everything with proper parts. It was good that they had a go but it was unrealistic.

True, the stillborn MP4/18 was a waste of time, but at the time they felt they could lose nothing by a wild gamble. As it turned out the MP4/17D was good enough and only the Mercedes engine giving up on Nurburgring, while Kimi was comfortably leading, denied him and McLaren the driver's title that year.

For all the successful designs Gordon Murray had at Brabham, he did a few which never worked. Same for Colin Chapman, with the Lotus 80 for instance.

The MP4/19 inherited flaws.

There are alot of people who say that Kimi did not deserve his championship in 2007... You have to remember how hard he was trying... How many chances he lost to unimaginable technical failures. Kimi did alot of hard work... He was passionate about winning the championship, he did win. He deserved it, dont argue that.

After losing both the 2003 and 2005 titles due to mechanical failure (30 points snatched right off him when he was comfortable leading in 2005), and being stuck driving uncompetitive McLaren's for many years, he sure as heck deserved a little bit of good luck in 2007, after all the bad luck he had.

Some argue Nigel Mansell didn't deserve the 1992 title due to his car dominance. He lost the 1986 title in the last race from a rare tire puncture. The 1992 title was deservedly his.

2008 was Domenicali's plan to make Kimi go slow(after the French GP they made a complete change of the car's set up si it could fit Massa a bit more but when Kimi wasn't confident whit it they dind't change a thing)Kimi left Ferrari because of the sponsors but i dont think that Fernando wanted him as a team mate,Alonso never head a proper team mate-only Lewis who made Alonso look like a comlete imbecil.They knew that Kimi and Fernando would be fighting alot so they keept Massa-hope for 2011-RBR

2:34 made me cry. THe European GP Kimi leade on the final lap with Alonso behind hoping to close the gap a bit more for the title hope and the wheel broke off. With Mclaren he had the fastest car (except in 2006) but because those idiots couldn't make it reliable he didn't win the title with them.
