I've listened to this for as long as i can remember...the final verse brought me to tears. i was seven when i finally understood it,he really was riding with private andrew malone and pulled him out of the wreckage because a soldier never leaves a fallen comrade...why don't they play it anymore i requested it to local country station on my birthday in july and they said they would play it and never did...so i grabbed a cd put it in my computer and listened to it myself...
I have always loved this song. I remember listening to it on my old mp3 player in the car :) it was one of my 10 songs and it was the only one that I ever listened to.
My name is private Andrew Malone, if your reading this then I didn’t make it home, but for every dream that’s shattered another one comes true, this car was once a dream of mine now it belongs to you, though you may take her and make her your own you’ll always be riding with private Malone.
I've loved this song since I first heard it on the radio so many years ago. I wish the radio stations would play it more often, this is true country music... Not singing about getting drunk and filling up your Red SOLO Cup...
Hey I didn't realize this guy was actually somewhat famous? I work at a hotel and he stays here every once in a while.. I decided to look up some of his music. He's actually pretty good.

Great song! I bought a hoyt cybertec bow from a man whose son passed away in the war. The bow was his and his father was finally able to let it go and I have been hunting whitetails with great success ever since. Me and my friends always say I am hunting with private andrew malone.
I love this song!!!! It's very sad though but amazing and for it to be based on a true event?!?! I believe that that could really happen and this song will never get old it brings a tear to my eye every time

@herrfizzle i don't think you get the point of the song. It is really about the connection that all Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines have, regardless of service or when they served. the details aren't important, like how much he paid for the car. that connection, and that "for every dream that's shattered, another one comes true" are the important things to take away from this song.

@superspinabifida thanks for serving! I recently read a book/journal of a guy that served in Vietnam too... It his name on fronttl cover was patrick flaherty and at the top it said my name is america in the middle of the cover it had a picture of the guy... He served in like Khe something but I really recommend reading it its really good... I'm not really into books but this one I actually took home and read because it was so good... I strongly recommend it

Stephanie, you married Uncle Chris a few years before you guys deployed and didn't make it home. Mom never liked him because he was in the military. I love you guys and really do miss you.

It his name on fronttl cover was patrick flaherty and at the top it said my name is america in the middle of the cover it had a picture of the guy... AK47 in your face. That was pretty funny. But most of all, I remember the time that all three of us watched Taken together! I love that movie and miss you guys every time I see it.

RIP Uncle Chris and Stephanie. I miss you guys more than anything. Uncle Chris, you showed me how to shoot and fight. Stephanie, you married Uncle Chris a few years before you guys deployed and didn't make it home. Mom never liked him because he was in the military. I love you guys and really do miss you. I have survived things that I wouldn't have survived without you. Stephanie, I remember sneaking out to go babysit when we were grounded! It was fun. Uncle Chris, I remember almost shooting an

Served 2 yrs in a recon marine unit in vietnam. Its hard for someone else who has never endured combat, to relate and understand the smell, noise and quiet of
combat operations. You love your fellow marines but you always miss the world.
