I will freely admit I don't know politics, so sorry if my question comment is off base but wouldn't a shoot down order be in place on a daily basis for uncontrolled, unapproved air crafts going near certain buildings places, like protected space?

@brendahere There were always guidlines for shooting down comercial aircraft. But the process was changed a few weeks prior to 9-11-01 to a much slower process requiring outside authorization from the highest chain of command to shoot down anything and severly delaying reaction time. They has since changed back to the older and quicker process. Hmm, thats a little suspicious.

Has anyone thought of this? Why, if since we KNOW they were aware that the plane was headed for the Pentagon, did they NOT SOUND ALARMS IN THE PENTAGON AND EVACUATE IT?! To me a shoot down order or no shoot down order is secondary.

hi all, like someone here says, do they fail first shot? and they have to ask for a second? the shooting down order DOESNT MAKE sence, what it makes sense is,,,,they were going to let that "plane" crash ,,,they knew it where was going "to the pentagon" and they knew where the plane would crash "reinforced empty walls" (empty section almost) so, this is why they didnt evacuate the building, so simple as that...if they wouldnt have known where the "global hawk" would crash they'd have evacuated

How can the president give a shoot down order at 10:18 A.M. Eastern and Mineta is overhearing a shootdown order being conversed between Cheney and a military aid at 9:20A.M. ? Please explain how this can actually happen.

Charles, we both know there's a proven contradiction going on regarding the interview and the report. The 10:18 shoot down order mentioned in the report is thought to be tied to that 80 mile out aircraft the aide supposedly mentioned to Cheney where he supposedly gave the order, with Libby overhearing (no mention of Mineta). With proof of that contradiction (cover-up!?), can you agree that what's on pages 40 and 41 may be lies to cover-up Mineta's testimony that didn't make the report?

Standard army operations: a last second abort request.

If the orders were "shoot them down", it doesn't make sense to ask for an abort at the last second.

If the orders were "we are go for impact", it makes a lot more sense to ask for an abort request at the last second.

If it was a shoot down order, on the aircraft heading towards the Pentagon, why would the young man come in and ask if the orders still stand? I mean did they miss the target at 50 miles out and now want to know if there was a change of heart? The debunkers are having a rough time with this one.

This entire theory is shot to hell due to the fact that the passengers on that flight made phone calls to their families TELLING them they had a plan to try and retake control of the plane. Im not trying to tell you what I DONT KNOW, just what I KNOW. At 500 mph you are doing 1 mi in 7.5 sec and the direction of the radio "bubble" from antennae makes it very unlikely that all those calls went through and were the duration claimed.

Agreed, I didn't mean to insult you, but correct me if I'm wrong the people on the plane may have used the phones attached to the seats, you know the ones you have to use your credit card for. I'm just basing my facts on things I have read. You're right though, an investigation could not hurt anything, especially after watching the the towers fall over and over again those "tiny explosions" resemble squibs more and more each time.

The hijackers could have taken control of the plane and landed it somewhere else, while a mock plane took its place.. sounds crazy but if you read Operation Northwoods. It was a plan by the Department of Defense, to hijack civilian aircraft, land it, replace it with a remote controlled aircraft send out fake calls from it and then remote detonate it. All to blame on cuba... Sooo... its possible.

trust me, i'm new to this too. i was completely against the idea that the government could do this sort of thing. but the more you look at what happened that day the more the questions pile up. i just want another investigation too. i don't claim to know what happened i just want to know for certain what did.

To my knowledge the order to shoot down aircraft was given after that hole in shanksville was discovered.

"I was made aware of it" doesn't mean he can confirm that this order was given.

All we know is that a plane was followed and an order about it was not changed.

@weneedhelp Doesn't that seem a little odd? I don't think people would be able to call their families because you have to turn your phone off when you fly on a plane. Investigate 911.
