You see, the shark can actually swim through the river to get to a lake, usually its bull sharks who do this.

Bulls can live in fresh water for long periods, but eventually they will return to salt water, at least for awhile. They often go into brackish or fresh water to pup as well. Lemon sharks also have the ability, but only for short periods. They dont have the biological adaptations for extended stays of a year or more as Bull sharks do.
