  • rest in peace michael larsen: eyedea

    rest in peace guru!

  • damn i need this on my ipod

  • an album, glad you could relate...

  • philosophy

  • this is music about real life, thats why eyedea would never of been mainstream, he refused to be part of a stereotype, but that is what made him great, he was a individual among a backdrop of lies, hate and anger, a true unsung hero

  • i cant explain how much this song means to me. it contains a piece of my life in a container that i can never open again. but yet i let this 'container' rest on a shelf so i may view and appreciate it.

  • we could talk other rappers all day long but lets just agree this track is a classic

  • people that listen to Eyedea should be smart enough to realize that comparing your typical "underground" rapper to the radio's music is stupid and pointless. if you say so otherwise gtfo

  • @BasedCamu How so? If more people were smart, it would be the contradiction. Mainstream music would be underground and underground music would be mainstream. It does relate to intelligence.. Now I know that's a subjective word but talk to any underground hip-hop fan and your average radiohead and see who is generally more open minded.

  • Jay Z, Biggie, and Pac all have/had good flow but their lyrics are light years away in complexity and substance from Eyedeas. He's the best lyricist i've ever heard.

  • The way in is the same as the way out? why enjoy the music, when you can enjoy living the music? "I'm extra argumentative and really good at fast talk" =)

  • Frig. I'm thinking a lot about him today. Nearly in tears. This guy, this song especially, touched my soul in my youth. Sad we'll never experience any new talent, and sad I never got to see him in person. I'll never forget what you brought to my life through hiphop. xo

  • if you only had one hour to sum your life up would u spend that hour saying a hour ain't enough

  • "See I dont write for the future, I write about the future.. for the present.... I write with my past about the future for the present."

  • @FormulaWarbrain favorite line

  • terrets ......what

  • lol no offence youtube .. dont ask dudes wasnt too you

  • suck dick bitch faggit hore cunt cock monger shit face ball sucking monkey fucker aids father mother sister aristicrat peice of monkey fucking ni germen incestive ball licking douche shoved up an ass that is the circulation of your universe who would of thought looking at your feet you could die like that in a pile of shit for everything you believe

  • @10qaws Did you have something to say?

  • @85zeitgeist Loool. I know right. I didn't catch that either.

  • @85zeitgeist lol no im a fuckin retard why would you talk to me

  • @10qaws I see that. Just wondering about your intent. That's all.

  • @10qaws chill kid

  • i geuss it all starts with imadgining and day dreaming a good portion of the day ...

  • but its ok cuz i stare at goats like this guy .. dont know how i got these thoughts but seriously i like em . im me . you arnt . meh

  • nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo weed

  • u should check out shing02 and NUJABES

  • Im only deep enough to realize im shallow" thats a paradox that gets to me.

  • One of my favorite songs by Eyedea. He always had great lyrics that had so much meaning behind them. When he rhymed, he was so powerful. I will miss Eyedea and I will cherish the great music he had blessed us all with. R.I.P Eyedea!

  • he wrote this album" first born" in junior high. he didnt record it until later though

  • So much more than music...R.I.P

  • just found out about eyedea last week to fucked up in my own struggles to realize but i was on the same path only know about the by the throat so im gonna enjoy catching up rip eyedea

  • thanks haters, you made the dislike bar look like a joint

  • Eyedea searched for happiness and identity his whole teen and adult life and when the opportunity for fame, glory, and money presented itself, Eyedea followed his heart instead, and continued making music with and for the people he loved. This guy is as real as it gets, that's one of the reasons his music is so amazing. Cheers to abilities too.

  • @harshblk I search for it also, but at least I have Micheal by my side.

  • R.EYE.P. you're my hero .

  • "...my head i keep it up but its hard to keep it straight,

when you dont believe in love and you just cant cope with hate,

metal rusts, leaves turn into dust,

as the diference between love and lust clarifies as trust..."

  • realism

  • EPIC track

  • poetry in beautifuly flowing motion <3

  • Just discovered him a week after he died. Thats weird. But it just proves that you can be immortal by making music. RIP.

  • @mother0mary same... and in my eyes my eyedea is the best rapper all time.. im sorry if u dont agree.. but what makes him the best in my eyes is how real life his lyrics are..

i listen to biggie..kanye.. jayz.. all the "good" mainstream but in my mind eyedea was the best and will always be

rip ur music will NEVER DIE

  • @nyyiman206 Don't compare Eyedea with Kanye. That's like comparing diamonds to dog shit. Respectively.

  • @rebukable r u saying that eyedea and kanye and the diamonds and the rest are dog shit, cuz their both amazing

  • @Skate4LiFEfour2zero No, I'm saying that no matter how much you polish shit, it will never shine like a diamond.

  • @rebukable i didnt compare the 2.. i said i like both.. i like who i want.. then i went on 2 say how eyedea is the best ever... i never compared the 2

  • actually, you claim that you listen to kanye, then imply that Eyedea is better. so, yes. you are comparing the two. nyyiman206 likes kanye jayz and biggie.(all the "good" mainstream) but he thinks Eyeda was the best. nyyiman thinks Eyedea > all the "good" mainstream.

  • @rebukable not really.. but really cares enjoy the music my friend

  • @rebukable i disagree, Eyedea is no doubt better than kanye, but Kanye is a good producer and a decent MC. His beats are some of the best ever created aka Through the wire, Power, Jesus Walks, etc. Kanye gets a bad rep for the people he associates with and his persona. Hes a dick but the dude can make music, and you cant deny that.

  • @theguy134 yeah, but rap/hip hop it's not about good beats.

  • @theguy134

    nah dude that's your opinion

    I think otherwise.

  • @theguy134 i disagree, and ima let you finish... but... It's all relative. McDonald's burgers may be okay if you're hungry, but compared to one that I make on the grill, they are shit and cease to be considered hamburgers.

You shouldn't compare Kanye's beats to Eyedea's. If you want to not fail, compare them to Abilities'. (P.S. you would still fail.)

Kanye might be able to 'make music' but so can my 2 year old nephew. And neither of the two are good enough to have a CD playing my car.

  • @rebukable I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE THIS COMMENT FOR BEST CMNT OF 2011

  • @DeathDrums I second this nomination. :D

  • @nyyiman206 How the fuck did a kid who put Michael in the same paragraph as those cunts get top rated.

    It's a disgrace.

  • R. EYE. P.

  • thanks Mike, you did a lot of good Bro.

  • lerical dopeness

  • if you guys wanna hear some original hip hop check my uploads from our group or hit up my favorites for some good tunes

  • When the beat bumps in, his voice rides it like a rollercoaster

  • REST IN PARADISE.

YOUR WORDS WILL BE NEVER ENDING

  • lemme start this off by giving the BIG F.U to the dumb bastard who gave this track a thumbs down. I would like to follow up with R.I.P to the man who made all of this possible. You will never be forgot

  • I am crying. I have been crying for a week. This music defined who I am.

I can't believe I am the same age. I will live life to the fullest Mikey, On That I Stand.

  • @OM3N1R its fucked hip hop lost one of its greatest contributors ever

  • i feel the same way, i never met him, yet geel like i lost a very treasured friend

  • Rap lost one its best when Eyedea left this world. rest in peace.

  • RIP Eyedea...truly gifted MC. Hip Hop in its purity...sick lyricist and an amazing DJ. Crazy to think...no more E&A. RIP

  • I really can't believe the news. RIP! This was one of my fav tracks from Eyedea!

This record was so / is good. I will never stop listening to it!

  • Blaze battle did it for me.since then hearing stuff like this drop, waitng for more thru out the years, "If u only had a hour to sum ur whole life up,would spend a hour saying a hour aint enough" Eyedea

  • Rest In Peace, dude will be missed

  • i am the creator of the "HipHopApostles" group on facebook and would like to share the real hip hop with the people who give respect to it

  • rip :(

  • RIP.

  • RIP EYEDEA ,,

i still member the 1st daY I LISEN TO YOU, I WAS AMAZED HOW SICK YOUR LYRICS WHEREE,,

  • rest in power

  • RIP this man was truly profound

  • RIP

  • sigh sigh sigh

  • sad to see you go. RIP

  • RIP man, you'll be missed

  • R.I.P eyedea

  • Why doesn't such great musical and lyrical works make radio play? I know its from the cold Minnesota but it's old considering all E@A has continued to drop that is even hotter. This song, no cussing to beep out and full of incredible lyrics and philosophy, put it on a station other than public radio.

  • dope mc

  • this is a dope song yoo...

  • I bleed the blood of a cold stone that rolls without a shadow

I'm only deep enough to realize that I'm shallow

My head I keep it up but its hard to keep it straight

when you don't believe in love,

and you just cant cope with hate

Metal rust, leaves turn into dust,

as the difference between love and lust clarifies as trust

if you only had an hour to sum your whole life up

would you spend that hour sayin that an hour ain't enough

    ill.

  • Probably one of the best, realest lyricists I've ever heard.

  • Comment removed

  • One of my favorite eyedea songs, another wow when you here it. By the throat is way new but I can handle it. All props to E@A

  • i hope i can handle seeing these peeps live

  • there sick as hell. eyedea is a mad man on the stage and abilities tears it up

  • Need a better recording.....but dope, yeah, fuck every recording of this song

  • well this version is just bad quality. they recorded it fine go cop the album and see for yourself. youtube just fucks up sound quality unless you make it HD. torrent the album 'first born', it has this track on it

  • these lyrics trip me out....Everytime

  • me to

    deep shit

  • Abilities makes the beats.

    Eyedea spits.

  • It's so fucking good

  • best part was 0:00-4:50

  • LOL i almost clicked that to see what you were talking about then i realized it was the full song and was like wow im a dumbass haha

  • yea u r a dumbass

  • ah very smart :) very true!!!

  • @calingopops Lmfao, I c whut you did thar.

  • @calingopops 0:00-4:51 for me

  • @calingopops Close 0:00-4:51, and i'm not sayin this for thumbs up either hahahaha

  • Eyedea is sick, been listenin for years, hit me up let's work!

  • likin it.

  • I don't understand why he changes the music up so much during so many of his outros i just dont' get it

  • probably because abilities is one half of the group A&E, and thats what he does, makes beats.

  • Monster Inside Will Always

Be My Favorite Song Is Monster Inside

He Fuckin Riped It & He Even Knows It

  • Eyedea is ill no one should ever say shit about him......this is my favorite song by Eyedea!

  • I agree, with the whole rhyme sayer crew

  • love the outro

  • the words represented to a feeling is everything. we just witness possibilities with music. soak up the truth , time is inevitable, but subjectivity towards reality widens the basis of these feelings. Relation to such stances creates a beautiful opening of acceptance to the situation we are in. We. The beings of being. On THIS I stand.

  • yoo this is eyedea bitchhhhhh ha ,, nahh,, but you shouldnt use dudes name in dudes shit,,, eyedea takes it to the soul,, this song takes me back,, to the summer when i use to ride my bike ot my ex girls house all the time,, tghis song on repeat,, love,, live, death hate,,, glad you could relate

  • takes me back..

  • T.O.N!!!!!!!

    ThanX

  • Gotta love this track! Pure Eyedea madness that his fans can relate to him by. Ridiculous how he starts off slow then keeps the beat moving with a faster rhythm. Love the man! One of the best that EVER did it and one of my personal favorites. If only 1/4th of the rappers out there could be at least a bit close to his level of excellence, the world would've been a much better place.

Mad love to him and Abilities, keeping the soul and essence of the genre alive!

  • sick.

  • im gonna miss this shit.

    eyedeas carboncarousels now.

:(. STILL so much respect for mike.

  • i love reading the lyrics and just listening to this song...anyone else like not feel alive after u done listening to a lot of his shits? its just like im high lol

  • Songs like this are the reason i now knock anybody who ever says "rap is crap"

  • yea but theres a diff between emenem n this this is good n emenem is shit like i love underground rap and hate mainstream my thoughts are mainstream is crap

  • Eminem ain't shit man, he kind of is now, but he is one of te best freestyle battlers ever, his Infinite album was sick, along with the Slim Shady EP and LP, and the Marshall Mathers LP was good too.

  • Theres nothing wrong with a song being mainstream

It's when that song is shit that's a problem

Mainstream isn't bad, it's the fact that the records are shit.

  • fuck your thoughts man, mainstream doesn't exactly mean shit.. so keep it yo yourself

  • most of th mainstream rappers woulddnt b able to seell as many albums as most underground artists mainly because they sell out and use publicity to sell their music most people buy there records for he publicty because this is a generation of peer pressure and fitting in..underground doesnt sell out and they dont use publicty to sell they use there talents so fuck you il express my thoughts cuz its called freedom of speach bitch

  • It's not a generation it's just how people are.

  • it actually is a generation...we didnt have wack hip hop floodin the media/mainstream in the 80's and 90's...just recently when the media got their hands on it.

  • this guy started just after the 90's i think around age 15?

  • the difference between love and lust clarifies as trust

  • awsome shitt

  • Awesome song

  • MINNEAPOLIS REP!!! I love Eyedea. I love him even more since he is from Minnesota like me:)

  • lkok

  • Pretty cool rythme. I like the fact that he doesn't curse like all the other idiots out there called the mainstream.

  • he does "curse".

i think you missed the point somewhere.

  • well he swears. But i like how he does it with in reason. Or does it to get the point across

  • @edingsteve1 Actualli he does curse, bt he expresses emotion so it doesnt realli matter.

  • @edingsteve1

eyedea does curse in a lot of his lyrics, but that makes him no more or less talented. I agree, when someone can express themselves without angry profane attitudes, it's respectable. Don't be fooled though, that's on a whole different spectrum.

  • @edingsteve1 haha, this is like the one song he never curses

  • @edingsteve1

I like that too, however there are some artists who do curse and are good, for example Slug from Atmosphere, Brother Ali, and Aesop Rock.

  • @edingsteve1 he does have tendency to curse on other songs but with eyedea he would use the words to emphasize his feelings instead of just trying to shock.

  • @hailpazuzu ya cursing when it is used to emphasize emotion or something is not bad at all...cursing just to curse or because its the only thing you can rhyme with shows your lack of skills. rhymesayers dominate the real hip hop game

  • @edingsteve1 cursing in a song doesnt make it bad. some real good artists curse. Butthey got to know how to make it flow, sound intelligent not ignorant rap.

  • @edingsteve1

cussing only shows a lack of vocabulary

  • @deadmau5err and the lack of thinking

  • @deadmau5err but sometimes people my say profanity to express an emotion. such as, "oh fuck yeah!!!" or "im so fucking pissed!" it just makes the emotion sound stronger. although there can be better terms to make them equally powerful; many people probably dont think properly when they express strong emotions

  • @EliasPadillaTV if you ever get a chance, check out damien rice's song "Rootless Tree live from abbey road" ive never heard "fuck you" sound so poetic.

  • @bizmyth haha dayum! thats the nicest

     sounding fuck you. lol
