  • 41 people just exploded

  • Thanks Luckydate. You're the, man!

  • I was excited till i saw reason.... closed system = poop. good toot though.

  • @SykoTexan Closed system? No. It's got ReWire, which is awesome. You can basically use Reason as a giant VST without using too much CPU.

  • I've been following your tut's closely and I get the synths to sound just right and record it. But the problem is when I play it back, the synth sounds muffled/ nothing like how it sounded when I actually recorded it. Anybody have any input on what the problem could be?

  • another thing I forgot to add was that I've tested to make sure it's not my midi controller connection and it's not the case. I've recorded synths without messing with anything (just using a regular patch) and it comes out just fine. Help!!

  • @highrolln754

Chill and Smoke to this :D

    Deadmau5 - HR 8938 Cephei

    Deadmau5 - Bleed

  • what program are u using ?

  • I keep replaying the first 30 seconds of this vid, any way you can put that loop up for download? its just cool to chill and smoke too lol thanks bro, you do good shit, im also an established producer check my channel search JaredDanielsLV, cheers

  • Is this track available for download? I heard it on the I am a reason user vid and love it!

  • Lol dude i have only 1 question. How to set after the freq in the patterns? o.O

  • @NagyMP Read the title. It's Reason.

  • fuck you mac

  • @TheViliukas Jo, Mac'ai lievi.

  • @CrysisLTU2 butent :D

  • How can i do that noise effect????

  • every time i listen to your music i want to make music, your my insparation, thanks man :D

  • would you mind uploading a patch for the thor / combinator ?

    thanks in advance

  • anyways how do you equalize a synth? by the way nice tutorial

  • how you make that zsshhhh?^^

  • @Ironmuda white noise + filter (add reverb, delay and sidechain compression to suit)

  • @Ironmuda You can make that 'fshhhhhhhhh' sound by taking a drum swish and adding an RV7 Reverb to it to lengthen the sound. Then just tweak it until you are happy. :)

  • Deadmau5 is not a real progressive-house artist... real good artists are DINKA, MICHAEL CASSETTE, SHINGO NAKAMURA, ARTY, and many more...

  • @PyroSam1990 There is no such thing as 'real' progressive house, it's all the same genre, therefore you are incorrect.

  • ho's. and discos. :)

  • What is the name of this song??? i really like it and it was played on the reason 6 preview teaser

  • If you don't have a midi-controller, press F4 and you'll get a virtual keyboard. You can then press on your own keyboard to hear the sounds.

  • your tutorials are so helpful, i'm a new reason user and was flying blind pretty much, but after watching most of your videos and duplicating sounds, it wasn't too long before I understood how everything worked and was able to start making original sounds. I can't thank you enough!

  • Hey Check out my youtube videos, ill be putting more of my music up soon, also chack out xpdan1 < :) feel free tocomment rate or subscribe :) thankyouuu :p

  • You are a reason user!!!!!!!!!

  • i got a question... how did you do the crash cymbals at the beginning sound like that??... is that an automation or something???...well iv'e been trying to make them sound that way but i really haven't found that special sound that i like... so can you please help me ??? thank's

  • it's pronounced /pəˈlifənē/

  • I just did everything you said to do how did you get it to play? it wont allow me to.

  • @atticus678 Your synth doesn't play the notes you say?

  • @platinumguitar Reason's Piano roll often glitches out like that and shifts up and down. You should be learning how to make the sound rather than copying his melody anyway...

  • what is this piece called so i can buy it??

  • btw, what is the "ffssshhh" sound called that starts at 0:30 and is on the background? please someone respond:)

  • @PlacidBlue0 white noise

  • @PlacidBlue0 its called a 'sweep'. It is basicly a white noise that has its filter cutoff frequency modulated. And then you can just sidechain a kick to it to get the pumping rhythem

    hoped that helped

  • @KOPERSTEP What plugin is used for the white noise effect? jw.

  • @ColonelDustin you could use subtractor... just turn on the noise. underneath osc 2

  • wow, i didnt realise its luckydate doing this video:D

  • LOVE IT thank you so much!

  • why did you add the advanced reverb???? thanks dude

  • nice tutorial! <3 u

  • Man, thats a sweet song! you should be, like, and artist or something!

  • Hahahaha... I was jammin and out of nowhere " What's up everyone?"

    Damn... Good song.

  • not that this doesn't sound awesome but doesn't a dry/wet of zero mean it's not doing anything?

  • Anything that is more than one note at the same time is a chord bro

  • I'm sure you can do better than the same 4 chords. But I do like the sound.

  • hey dude could i finish this if it wont make profit and credit will be givin to u if i dont get a reply in 4 hours i am legaly aloud to use it

  • @DjSmilez2k11 lol

  • @DjSmilez2k11 you clearly study law.

  • @johnfakeson yea dude lawyer by night SUPERSTAR DJ BY NIGHT lol :D

  • @RusVon Hold down the Shift key whilst turning the knob to control the frequency on a slightly more precise scale.

  • I can careless about reason since i use ableton, but i only come here to listen to the intro....RELEASE IT

  • you sound like chris off family guy

  • hi can you make a tut on that air effect?

  • @OMGCHOLESTROLL You can do the Air effect with the SubTractor synth. Just Initialize the patch, turn off OSC 2, turn on Noise and also turn on fm next to OSC 1 (just raise the knobs, it's depending how you like this sweep (air) effect. and know you can raise slowly the frequency and if you want the resonance of filter 1 and 2 to incrase the sweep sound. Thats how i do that.

    Greets

  • @OMGCHOLESTROLL you can do it in thor aswell but it is not as good as in the sub tractor... load thor..initilize patch, click show programmer then turn the osc 1 to noise or look up luckydatevideos he does tut on it

  • @OMGCHOLESTROLL you can do it in thor aswell but it is not as good as in the sub tractor... load thor..initilize patch, click show programmer then turn the osc 1 to noise or look up luckydatevideos he does tut on it

  • Anyone know how this could be done on cubase?

  • why does lately everyone wants to sound like someone else? be original, be creative! ;) learn the synthesis and you'll be able to create any sound you want on any synthesizer

  • What do you prefer amongst all of these softwares? I mean can somebody give me a heads up on Pro Tools, Logic, Reason, Ableton etc. etc. Why do you prefer one over the other??

  • @jeanpaulfelix Reason and Ableton are the best because they are the easiest to use, but still have very deep sound creation.

  • how do you do that other effect, i dont know the proper name for it, you have the synth, the beat and another sound, to me it sounds like a crashing wave

  • @DjDirtyNoize it's called sweep

  • @addydas89 cheers mate

  • how can i do this synth if i don't have reason? D:

  • the only thing that annoys me, is that i followed your stuff in this vid, but no sound comes out ;S help please

  • @ilikeboobi I'll help!

Is it like that for all instruments? If so go into preferences, then select audio from the menu, then choose where you want it to come out from. If you're using your computer's normal ones, then "Built in output". If that wasn't it, press tab to look at the back of the rack. Make sure all the cables are running to the right places.

Send me a message if it wasn't that.

  • If you don't hear any sound coming out make sure that the BV vocoder is set to 'Equalizer' not 'Vocoder'.

    Cheers. ;)

  • You are deadmau5's brother man!

  • is this in the reason commercial?

  • @DJRJTuff

    link please

  • @AngryLlamaAttack /watch?v=hX3wijUsYcM

  • @AngryLlamaAttack and also i am pretty sure luckydate is the dj in this video

  • thank you for this. amazing synth!

  • You sound like Justin Long, and your using a mac oh the irony

  • @Cruzebrohardout care to explain?D:

  • "I don't even know what a cord is"

    I love you man.

Don't like the interface of reason (to bloated imao), but i guess

im gonna have to learn it just for the heck of it.

  • Did the beginning give any one else a head ache?

  • what bpm is used for house and most other electronica songs? 120? 140? more? less?

  • @AceTheIntrovertMusic about 128-132bpm trance is more around 140. hardstyle is 150, and hardcore and techno can be 140+ peaking at about 200bpm

  • @MrMike65123 thanks yo.

  • @AceTheIntrovertMusic i do mine all at 130

  • @AceTheIntrovertMusic the most is 128 bpm

  • does anyone else know that this exact song is on the new promo video for Propellerhead Reason.

  • haven't even watched the tutorial part yet, but that intro clip is sick.

  • how do you assign the frequency to the mod wheel?

  • Hahah this is like free candy! I so much appreciate this now after sitting the whole afternoon trying to imitate deadmau5 - rais your weapon sound ^^whooo not even watched it yet

  • this is kinda dumb but i cant find the synth patch he is using whats it called and how can i find it please? :)

  • im confused. i thought if you turn on the limiter + soft clip, the soft clip would not come through?

  • pretty cool dog

  • While I am really glad and extremely grateful that you posted this amazing tutorial, I want to listen to this song even more than I want to learn how to make it! Now I just have to loop the first 45 seconds of this video over and over again.

  • @nism055 Try the FL Studio Demo :)

  • THANK YOU SO FUCKING MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • THE BEST SONG :>

  • Hey dude. propellerheads used your song on the "im a reason user" video :D

  • @SonicOrbit01 i was thinking the same thing :D

  • i love u dude ahah

  • 2 notes is a harmonic interval and 3 is a chord, not tryin to be a dick, just helping :)

  • Why did you create a RV7000 reverb if the drywet is fully dry? O_o

  • Thanks mate, thanks to your tutorial I'm able to make alot more music genres than I did. I'm able to make about exactly the sound I want in reason since I understand Thor since this tutorial.

  • How do i equalize with reason man ? i got this nice melody but it still sounds ''factory dull'' i clicked and paused the whole vid.. i have a right to know dude..

  • following you on the twit, keep rockin dood thanks for the help!!

  • can anyone help me at the start the preset on thor is init patch i cant find that anywhere hellllpppp

  • @DjSmilez2k11

Right click on your Thor synth

    Click on 'initialize patch'

    Problem solved. :)

  • what are the best programs i can use to make a synth like this?

  • @torrentdisguise42 any program

  • Nice vid! :)

If anybody is intressted, check out my channel and new song Gloaming if you want to hear some more progressive house music ;)! Thank you!

  • How do you get that splashy, echoy, delay-y sound?

  • Grats on this making the reason 6 release vid.

  • @olleromam91 u mean reason 5?

  • Great video

  • Callmeold, but this is just old school Trance from around 2000.

  • @cisseshairdresser now with side-chaining :)

  • EXCUSE ME BUT HOW DO U LEARN HOW TO MAKE THESE SOUNDS I WANNA BE ABLE TO HEAR A SYNTH A CREATE IT MYSELF TO PLEAZ REPLY LUCKY???????

  • @MrKidjproductions I think it's called experience and a musical ears

  • @MrKidjproductions there's a good tutorial on sound design done by propellerhead

    it's called "thor demystified"

just google part 1 on youtube

  • How can I do this without a MIDI keyboard

  • @BlackfiskenPaul There's a draw mode, if you have some time, (because it will take much longer) you can draw out the melody. to switch to it, it's the button right next to the arrow button.

  • This isn't Progressive House.

  • OH MY GOD ! THE MUSIC ITS AMAZING !! RELEASE IT MEN.

  • @mrmonteiro24 This song is the Begining of NIck Wood Europe

  • @smith6sonian yeah i know that now, its fuckin awesome.

  • @mrmonteiro24 he just needs to remake it better.

  • you havent heard glen morison huh...

  • does anyone know what kind of sound that is from the sound bank on Redrum 2??? I can't find anything like it

  • @EnglandMUCH

Probably from the Vengeance sample pack

  • Apprentice to the mau5

  • Chords are Harmonic, and this is why everybodys just freakin out when he listenes them. listen to skrillex and you wont will hear a single chord but a lot of crazy freaky sounds from another galaxy :D

  • @cookiedubstep na its just the way he sets his sequencer , arpegiator , and his glitches off his kickdrum

  • @FadedSTEELERSfan Okaay if you say so ;) I like iit :D Schools over! Juhuu!

  • @TomasvandeWiel white noise with an automated filter.

  • @TomasvandeWiel youtube.com/watch?v=ouHnheX5Mpc&feature=fvwrel that is luckydate's tutorial on how to do something very similar

  • @nippleraisin thanks man :)

  • Finish that piece! It is majestic!

  • I love this sound! Can you do it for FL Studio? It can be possible?

  • @D4nt390 Anything is possible!

  • I love this song!!! :D

  • jesus fuck people....why are you all freaking out over these chords?

  • @Plixus100

    Jesus fuck..

Cause it's fucking good and u don't know what music is, aaight?

  • @jordyvandewalle It's nothing special, its just a 4 bar loop of a little progression...chill out? If you'd listen to other progressive house and melodic music in general outside of deadmau5, or whoever else you listen to, you'd realize that.

  • @Plixus100 umadbro?

  • @Plixus100 and PLUS IF YOU HAD REASON YOU WOULD KNOW THAT MAKING THIS IS NOT EASY AT ALL

  • @FadedSTEELERSfan Haha..."if I had Reason I would know that making this is not easy at all." Well...I've been using Reason for almost two years now and this isn't necessarily the most difficult thing to create (very easy actually). But the difficulty of creating what's in this video, or any electronic music, is beyond my original point. The video was to show how to make a synth, and I said why is everyone freaking out over this little example melody that he wrote. Chill out man.

  • @Plixus100 ya dude its easy after two years but i bet at the beginning of it or still right now you couldnt produce chords and sweeps like that sir , see anyone can play chords but you gotta make them appeal to the masses not just some loser know it all =]

  • @Plixus100 because they are tonally known chords, rhythmic, and upbeat. That speaks to humans who both know music's in an outs and more so for humans who don't know music's ins and outs.

  • @Plixus100 I agree. Funnily enough chords have been around for centuries.

  • cheers man nice sound, how do u do side chain compression in reason?

  • @vinel22 plenty of tutorials kicking about on youtube! Luckydate does a tutorial i think too!

  • awesome tutorial and synth, thanks!

  • *goosebumps*

  • 0:00 - 0:03 ... KILLS ME :-D

  • Comment removed

  • this tutorial just too popular)

  • finish it and release it please man

  • your tutorials are dope as a producer they help alot

  • Hey, nice tutorial .

But, i just wanna ask this - I don't have a midi , so is reason without it , useless ?,since its pretty impossible to put notes by note through the pencil.(though i am just a beginner).
