I think that even a shot that missed the heart will kill the person that is hit. The bullet could perforate the lungs or major blood vessels, which is also extremly deadly. And I don't think the Vietcong had the means of rescuing someone with such an severe injury. The General would have died either way.

Carlos Hathcock made the second longest sniper shot in history in Vietnam using a M2 Browning machine gun something that wasn't intended for sniping but he liked it because of the 50.cal round. Not only did he shoot it with a Machine Gun but he only shot twice while his target was behind a hay wagon so he couldn't see him, compared to the Canadian who put more rounds down range.

@Navlek79 Im not too good at maths eithier, but you dont need great maths to become a sniper, you get taught everything n training, pratice makes perfect, as long as you have the determination to get there.. remember sniping isnt all about killing, its about patience.

@DarrenMcI Well if the enemy has a HUMAN WAVE running at you don't really have to line up shot's but instead you just have to make sure not to run out of ammo. But I can not say he is the best sniper in history only because of his kill's ratio.

@DarrenMcI It is true that he has made the longest shot in history.....with a SNIPER RIFLE! Carlos Hathcock made the second longest sniper shot in history in Vietnam using a M2 Browning machine gun something that wasn't intended for sniping but he liked it because of the 50.cal round. Not only did he shoot it with a Machine Gun but he only shot twice while his target was behind a hay wagon so he couldn't see him, compared to the Canadian who put more rounds down range.

@DarrenMcI *Extend* So ya even though the Canadian made a longer shot with a weapon that was made for such a shot, compared to Hathcock's shot that was with a weapon that wasn't intended for the job, I would say that Hathcock's shot was better. But don't get me wrong the Canadian was a damn good shot better then most snipers on this planet to date but given resources to him compared to Carlos I wouldn't say he was a better sniper. (P.S. Carlos is the same guy they mention in this video)
