@hdzoots I never said it was a reunion. I said and so did Marc, who was the owner of Spindle Records recording studio in New Port Richey where the group was recording, that this was the last time this group performed on stage together. Since most doo wop groups don't have bands, it's not assumed every body was included in the group, At that time, that group of guys singing were recording under the name "Nino and the Ebb-Tides. He posted the video after Tony and Artie passed as a tribute.
If you had a f^^king problem with the video why did you wait until a year ago to say anything? Then you get on here saying this crap and using foul language. You said yourself you waited 3 years to say anything. Marc put these videos up here to preserve them because he was dying of lung cancer and he wanted to preserve it. I understand Tony and Artie were your friends, but they were his too. I have a recording of him sing with them. He never finished the cd.
Sooooo, YES THIS IS NINO & THE EBB-TIDES in their 1996 incarnation. If that combo of singers sang again after 1996, it was unknown by Marc at the time. Both Tony and Artie passed away before Marc. Marc may have been alot of thing, but when it came to music, he was very seldom wrong, but everyone makes mistakes. I'm sure if he was here right now and realized he was wrong, he'd have corrected it. He was very good friends wirh Tony and Artie and remembered them fondly.
THIS IS NOT NINO & THE EBBTIDES!!! Yes, Tony was on bass and as mentioned, the others were there that night as spectators in the audience at a club called Memories( previously Cory Randalls). The local band The Zoots were playing that night and I invited my friends Tony and Artie to come on stage and sing a couple of songs. As for the last performance of Nino & The Ebb-Tides in 1995 in Port Richey, Florida, total BULLSHIT! Thanks for listening, been wanting to post this since the video came out.
@hdzoots Since the co-owner and producer of Spindle Records was there and recording the video, Marc Bird. They were signed with Spindle Records at that time using the name "Nino & the Ebb-Tides". I think it is funny how you waited until after I announced that Marc had past away to leave this comment, since the video had been up for 2 years before he died. it's been on here for 4 years and you don't comment until you think it's safe? Talk about BULLSHIT you JACKASS!!!!
Real Nice. Hey Does Anyone Know Where "Ralph Brocco" Is ???? The Castletones Are Trying To Re Hook Up With Him. Contact Cookie Delgardo Or Butch Testa(btsmusic69)Thanks.
My understanding is the song was banned because they didn't have copyright OK's for the backgtound vocals during the talking part...L:ast heard the 45rpm was somewhere in the range of $50.00
Always loved this song. Had to be sung by the Ebb Tides only. One hit wonders, but it stuck with me. Maybe it was the girl I was with! Anyway, fabulous memories!
absolute class, does anyone know who sang that song that goes " their is a moon up above lets go walking in the park, there is a glow in my heart, ive never felt before. lets go walking through the park???
This clip was the first time I had heard this song. I listened to it a few times since I first heard it a month or two ago and today it was playing over-and-over again in my head all day. For this reason I felt I had to come and listen to it again :o) It's an easy to sing and lovely one to hear play.
They have a greatest hits CD that also has many cuts that were never on the radio that were terriffic. They cover an Eric Clapton tune thats a Knockout.
it;s fantastic to see the group sing . After hearing all their obcure but exellent matirial as puppy love - and Some day - ..and For 27 yr's WDTR's olden gold played obscure Doo wop . I used to request their stuff all the time .
Whatever anyone thinks of 80s music the thing to remember is it was the decade of Big Daddy the act which did a couple of dozen songs from the time and performed them as if they'd been written in the 50s.
It was also the decade which produced the first doowoppers in the U K-the DARTS.
Holy sh*t, this is freaking incredible! Hey, what do you guys think of CBS 101.1 FM coming back and all but eliminating all that great doo wop they use to play in favor of `80`s music? I got so ticked off I smashed my radio lol! You think the Belmonts would be heard once again, a New York institution, but instead we get butt slamming WHAM! There ought to be a law that any out of town Yuppie with a marketing degree should be locked up before he steps one foot into programming New York radio.
From memory, I believe it was Willie Mendez of the Copas. Imbimbo was the bass man from the original Ebb-Tides, and he is on the right. Also of note is Artie Russo of the Devotions.
hey spindlechick...I don't know Marc and had no knowledge of his death. Tony Imbimbo was a personal friend of mine! THIS WAS NO EBBTIDES REUNION !!!!
With that said, they did sound good. This was MY gig and these guys sat in for a couple of songs........period!!! Enough said..............

They arent the real composers of this song.
Lil Ceaser & The Romans were the first to come out with it in the 50s.

It sounds like
The Capris - There's a moon out Tonight.
But the lyrics are not the same as what you wrote...I'm just guessing good luck with your search.
