  • Frollo's full name is "Archdeacon" Claude Frollo. He has a brother named Jehan. And since the plague took his parents, making him and his brother orphans, up until that, he was focused on studies. Thumbs up if you knew at least two of these things.

  • @Heavenlyhounds96 Yeah. But the Disney version is basically a totally different story, so I don't think that applies to this particular Frollo lol

  • this is the problem with religon

  • @90fitzgerald09 No, this is the problem with ultrareligion people

  • Conclusion: He's just a man.

  • Comment removed

  • yep this is a good example of what religion does makes you want the fobidden more and more.

  • translation: I want to bone esmalrada.

  • Im 19 and I still dont quite understand...

  • @CitoKun ..He is lusting after her. But he feels as though it is her fault and not his fault. But the Background chanters are saying MEA CUPA: which, translated means: IT'S MY FAULT.

    I personally think it's brillant.

  • Such a shame that disney does not make awesome movies like this anymore. Lion King, Notra Dame, Aladdin, Rescue Rangers...now it's just anything that they can think of and hope it sells.

  • This is exactly how I act when I get a boner!!

  • When i was a kid this was my least favorite disney movie, but now its one of the few i still like. Well... i still hate the gargoyles, but other then that its great. Though I'm not sure why Disney would make a movie out of a Victor Hugo novel, i love his books but i wouldn't read them to my kids.

  • Behold, the most directly Sexual thing disney has ever done.

  • @soldwisch Never watched Lion King, huh?

  • I remember re-watching this as a teen, and thinking "Wait a minute, this is supposed to be a Disney movie and he's singing about hellfire and committing a woman to depths of the underworld? ...Neat."

  • I never truly understood this song until now.....I hate growing up

  • truly the best villain song in disney history!

  • the german version is much more epic :D

  • If you having boner problems I feel bad for you son.

    I got 99 problems, but a witch ain't one.

  • The german Version with Klaus Jürgen Wussow ist the best.He brings so much more emotions over than any other versions.

BUT: In the english Version you really feel that he is fucking scared of the sin/his soul when he sings into the fire ( 01:00 )

  • @Blasthood this is how a dumbass misunderstood a simply message: love each other. Aw does that mean I have to kill everyone so an asshole says that religion did this and that the message was evil? Is religion bad? Or is just bad people and stupid assholes who made it look bad?

  • @Chichopuente Relax, why so angry? Besides, religion suppresses such simple emotions such as sexual attraction, which is completely natural and inherent in every single human being as well as other animals (we're animals too btw). Regardless, you can see how his "faith" is making him repress such feelings hence his internal conflict and fanaticism as now he's asking his imaginary friend for "guidance". Which means, yes, religion is a bad thing that suppresses one's being.

  • @Blasthood can people just not get into a religious debate over a disney song!

  • @Blasthood lol no, this what Bachelorhood does to people.

  • @Theab1995 He wouldn't be a bachelor if he wasn't part of the church, or if he did not adhere to christianity. I wrote "emotions" that accounts for other things as well. In many religions tend to suppress your being.

  • A song about lust and having a "flaming desire in my skin" for a female and if she wont be his to send her to burn in hell's fire......got to love those G rated movies for the little kiddies at home.

  • Frollo is one of the most sinister, hateful, and BEST villain in disney history

  • why is Frollo freaking out over a boner?

  • 1:02

  • Swedish Version is still the best :P

  • Jeez, just listening to all the classic Disney movies makes me wish even more that the Disney now puts more effort into their songs like they did back then.

  • The Gypsy girl has ignited lust within me, and if I can't have her then the fires of Hell will!

    Kids' movie, right?

  • I'm not a huge fan of this film, but God Frollo is a terrifying villain!

  • @SIngli6 This is actually my favorite Disney animated film. It is mature, dark, intelligent, gorgeously animated and has fabulous songs and characters. I thought this film nailed everything. And yes, Frollo is the most complex, fascinating and, in the end, monstrous Disney villain of all time.

  • @Jones6192

Admittedly, it has been a long time since I've seen it, but I just don't remember it being as witty as 'The Great Mouse Detective' or 'One Hundred and One Dalmations' (incidently my two favourite Disney films). I remember it being mature and complex, just not particularly funny. Perhaps it is time for another viewing of it. I'm not ashamed to say that, at 18 years of age, I still love Disney.

  • @SIngli6 Why be ashamed? Hell a good movie is a good movie. To clasify it as something just for kids is an injustice.

  • Looks like Nicholas Cage

  • It's interesting to see how the whole character changes deending on the voice. Ive only been listening to the swedish version before, and it's like two different characters in some ways. Well, not looking at the language difference that is. ;)

  • Sometimes, I wish the song ended at 2:49 with the shadows of the punishers fading the scene out into a black screen. With the last line, there almost would've been room for pity for Frollo. I always felt like the last part of the song was a little too overdramatized when I first saw it D|

  • ok it rare for a Preast to be corrupted never mind a archbishop (even of nortre damne)

  • @mathewmallon Uh...he's not an archbishop. Or even a member of the clergy. He's a judge, albeit a very (over zealous) religious one.

  • @FluffyThePlatypus In the original story,Notre Dame de Paris written by Victor Hugo, he is an archbishop ^^

  • What he doesn't know is that some old men get lonely.

  • Guy comes back in: Are you done with the music number? I thought you wanted to find that gypsy.

    Frollo: Get out, I'm busy!

  • My favorite villain! :) Unlike most villains, he doesn't conciously choose evil. In his mind, he's doing right. All the other villains choose evil. Frollo is a most flawed character. I love it!

  • Wut?

  • Comment removed

  • I'll Find her I'll her, if I have to Burn down all of Paris.

  • There's always that nice boy singing in the choir!

    or perhaps another calvary squirrre

    Hellfire, hellfire!

  • Well, interesting Disney movie you are.

  • 2:56 to the end......

    Fucking...Goosebumps...

  • I'm pretty sure there's a cream for that burning...

  • haha I think it's very funny how Frollo says idiot at 2:12 XD

  • Italian and English version are the best. But I'd like to read the book by Victor Hugo. I read the plot on Wikipedia, and it's harder than the Disney's movie. Maybe in original language (I know also French)

  • @Monychan093 This movie is loosely based on a play based on the original book by Victor Hugo.

  • È molto più bella quella italiana!

  • All the best animated movies are based off of books. The Jungle Book, Felidae, Animal Farm, The Hunchback Of Notre Dame, watership down! They're all so great!

  • Frollo is a godamn PEDO

  • @obsessivemuch17 pedo your mother,,hahaha

  • @obsessivemuch17

Omigod, I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that! XD

  • beacha marruiaaa

I prefer the latin american version!!

  • best version

  • Frollo's got The Shredder working for him? Damn.

  • Friggin' epic win of hand animation right here.

  • @TechnoJon96 *hand-drawn

  • Epic boner

  • ...everytime i watch this movie, i laugh at the end of this song where Frollo just kinda falls down... its like, "ok nap time..." Not sure if it's just me, but i cant help it. XD

  • Geez Frollo chill it's just a boner

  • Comment removed

  • I think Frollo's got an internal boner.

  • What are the hooded people saying?

  • @TheSlammurai

Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa (through my error, through my error, through my most egregious error)

  • @1Costello11 That's awesome. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • I am German but I think the English version of Hellfire is much better than the German Version *-*

  • Love this song!

it has such a dark meaning to it though.....

  • wow he really really wanted to tell the world he's got a boner...

  • Didn't expect much from this movie. I was frickin wrong.

  • Frollo is so sexy !!! :)))

  • 1:40 is so intense

I just love the background singing

  • I have only RECENTLY seen this movie. and this song....THIS SONG.

Most beautiful fucking epic song in ANY disney movie. Dark, Edgey, and so fucking beautifully composed. this movie deserves a fucking soundtrack remastering.

  • frollophiles..? uh okay, he burns paris because hes lusting after a gypsy. i wouldnt love a guy like that but whatever floats your boat i guess. i do like frollo as a villain though

  • My Frollo desire is turning me to sin~

  • Frollo, I love you in the book so so much, and I understand you <3 In the movie...meeeeeh...not as much. But you're still epic as a 100% evil character.

Also, Hellfire and Out There = fav songs from this movie.

And nothing like the original ;)

  • Esmerelda and Aurora are probably the hottest disney characters

  • "Protect me, Maria."

His face when he says that?

I feel so bad for Frollo. Even though he's such a villain. I still feel bad.

  • MEA CULPA!

  • try masturbating frollo. you'll get over it.

  • @Ranortizpenn In the book he does, but it only makes it worse xD

  • Ok he needs a lot of church guidance

    Ī Ī O

  • Why don't we have villians like this now? They all got soft! The new villians need to take a class tuaght by Frollo on how to be evil and how to scare little kids!

I love him so much :-)

  • he always freaked me out as a child... still does!

  • me gusta mas en latino .. hehehe aunq tambien esta es buena hahaha

  • Frollo did look scared when the guard entered.

  • The guy below me is probably a troll.

    Great song however.

  • Its in a kids movie to show them the dangers of not masturbating till you are 50...

  • Oh goodness...no matter what language this song is in; it's always so intimidating, epic, and dark.

  • This really makes me wonder if this was originally planned as a kids movie cuz it has a lot of deep themes and hidden meanings....

Just one objetion: WHY DISNEY DOESN'T MAKE THIS KIND OF MOVIES ANYMORE!!!! XD

  • @Midorishan

Because political correctness. You can't talk about religion or being attracted to people, you can only try to educate or provide VERY MILD slapstick humor.

  • @Midorishan I know right!

  • @Midorishan

Because they make too much money off of shitty live action movies.

  • @Midorishan you could really suggest that it wasn't planned as a kids movie, but children don't get the deeper meaning. I remember watching this movie as a child and I thought Frollo just doesn't like Esmeralda and didn't even even realize that he wanted her to burn... and hey, Disney also says that these are movies for the whole family (:

  • @Midorishan This movie is biased off a french book written in the 1800's. The original is probably much more adult than this one ^^

  • @Midorishan Why did Disney make a version of this? xD

It is fucking awesome, but there are very adult themes in this. (Sex, Death, and Sin)

  • @Midorishan no it wasnt, the story was written in the 1800's by Victor Hughs. same guy who wrote Les Miserables.

  • @Zappers42 Just wanted to politely correct you and say that it's "Hugo" not " Hughs".

  • @ArabellaTV

She's not naked, there's a line showing the top of her shirt

  • 3:09 Lol he just passed out after holding that note until like 2:59

I sure would but it just looked really funny

  • when he says he sined does that meen he masterbated???? 0.o

  • @happysun995 No, his sin is lust.

  • Of all Disney evil....people...? Frollo and that guy from Pocahontas are most scary O.o WHY IS THAT?!?!?!?!

  • be mine o you will burn....W.H.O.A.

  • in the song when he said, "This burning desire is turning me to sin," I was like OH NO don't even say that because you knew since you was born that you was sent by the devil!!! DANGIT!! He makes me sooooo mad!! I wish I could go into that movie and punch him in the face!! He says he is soooo religious!! Religious my butt!!

  • wow, here i am at 5 in the morning trying to stay awake so i dont fall asleep and miss my college final and im doing that by singing hellfire out loud.....college really does change people...alot

  • Has anyone ever noticed that when he's singing and you see esmeralda in the fire that she's naked and in a frew frames you can planely see her breasts.

  • @ArabellaTV nope she's not naked

  • ah i get chills when they chant "mea culpa" :O

  • I'd willingly get burned alive rather then get with that gross, perv >:( He creeped me out as a kid and he still does >:P I love Ezmerelda's song best out of the whole movie, it says that everyone is God's children and it's just got such a comforting message. I'm so glad this guy dies in the end, he met such a fitting end :)

  • ...and this aria is very simiar to the "Tre sbirri" aria, just see it, I recommand Ruggero Raimondi version

  • hey, don't you think that Frollo's character is very similar to the Scarpia from Puccini opera "Tosca"?

  • Its so funny how when I was a kid I watched this and was like "hes crazy and mean!" but now that im older I can appreciate this movie so much more

  • frollo has issues just saying one of the worst villans he still scares me a bit

  • Frollo seems really weak if he cannot handle one attraction to another human being. This song is one of the most intense and complex in Disney.

  • I prefer this version way more than any other language. This actors voice is just perfect for this villian. Everyone else who played him had a whoa not suited voice. XD

  • The comments on this video are infinitely more mature and insightful than those on the mainstream ones. Hats off to you adults.

  • forllo is pysho and burned in hell

  • Its good but I do like the swedish voice better. he sound more evil

  • GOD HAVE MERCY ON....GOD.

  • I love Frollo. He's so awesome. He's so deliciously evil yet he loves/lusts for esmeralda with such intensity...it's so multi-faceted, his personality. He's proud yet he prays to Maria, it's so paradoxical because he's so awfully egocentric and narcissistic, yet he can be obsessed with something outside himself and even admit to the existence of a higher power. His conflicting traits make him all the more interesting, though. :)

This song is also totally great! <3

    and Frollo is hot. xD

  • @rainbowheydrich Did you think this when you were three

  • @2kor517

Movie was not out when I was three. xD

  • @rainbowheydrich Did you just say he was hot? XP I really want to gag right now lol. He's really an awesome character though and a great singer ^.^

  • @TheMEOWZERZ He is quite hot. Frollo is one of the finer things in life. <3

  • @rainbowheydrich Frollo is so hot.

  • @rainbowheydrich He's certainly unusual for a Disney villain! Usually they're just evil, no motivation or anything, but you can tell that Frollo was really well thought out. He crosses all the lines, sexual tension, religious taboos, he's really wonderfully done. =)

  • Hey Simsafterdawn wanna be friends on here?

  • I have ants on my skin, when I listen this song. One of the most beautiful songs in the history of Disney!

  • Is there a word for people who feel attracted to Clopin AND still have a great deal of sympathy for Frollo? (not admitting to any more than that T.T)

  • 5/5 !Frollo is awesome !!

  • I like this song but honestly i still don't get it at all.

  • It's simple really. Some people wouldn't understand, it's all right ^^

The thing is, ever since seeing Esmeralda at the Festival of Fools, he's been "burning" inside. Obviously not with real love, just something horrible and crude called lust (you can ask any or my previous boyfriends about that :P) So, this song is used to describe his twisted nature instead of the mask he wears daily in front of Quasi. You see?

  • I guess so. So does he have a thing for Esmeralda cuz thats what I thought when i heard this song. I looked up lust and it means like a sexual feeling so i thought that frollo maybe was in love with her.

  • Exactly! Well, like I said, it's not so much love. But anyway, you have the basic idea.

  • i never got was he just attracted to esmerelda or what

  • lol yeah xD

  • I never got it either if he was attracted to esmerelda I think he was. I watched another video and it told about the movie and it said that he had lust for her which means i think sexual desire for someone.

  • You know, i really didn't appricate how deep this song was when i was a kid...frollo is still crazy and a false christen in my opinion but this song is still comflicting....and this was supposed to be a kid's movie? wow, and this is the watered down version..

anyway, things really have changed, and now the movie makes more sense..

  • @ravenwoodwitch I dont think Frollo is a fae christian he only missinterperated the message.

  • @ravenwoodwitch I know right? I thought it was ony me who thought of him as a false Christian. Esmerelda is a total real Christian, though, in everyones opinion. God HELP TH OUTCASTS!

  • @ravenwoodwitch What do you mean this is the watered down version? Is there another one?

  • @TheMEOWZERZ The Hunchback of Notre Dame is actually a book, which is stronger in all sense than this movie, both are very good nonetheless.

  • @ravenwoodwitch Well in all reality, Hunchback is one of, if not, the darkest movie Disney has produced. So it's understandable to find this hard to see this as a kid's movie.

  • @ravenwoodwitch when i was a kid I LOVED THIS SONG!! i guess i was mad!

  • @ravenwoodwitch Agreed. Also look carefully when the monk spirits fly out of the window; they're really demon spirits pulling Frollo's soul into Hell with them, thus why he is unharmed bodily.

  • @ravenwoodwitch No Frollo is a typical Christian. Anger, Lies, Secrets, Hypocrisy, Self Adoring, Murderer, Racist, Blames things on the devil. yup typical Christian of the times

  • @ThesePeopleSuck aah noob you are

  • @maxikronnont who calls someone a noob? a geek in 1999 thats who. Seems I hit a nerve lol

  • @ThesePeopleSuck Na, you didn't. But you seem like a 12 years old kid. Poor boy. And I'm not christian btw but I know friends of me that are and they aren't like that. The same as priests. If you have never met a priest of a christian I'm sorry for you.

  • @maxikronnont You would like if I were a 12 year old boy wouldnt you lol. For the most part Christians are hyopcrites who misquote their own holy book or twist it's meaning to fit there cause. Yeah people can trust preists its not like there's a headline every other day about preists molesting children.

  • @ThesePeopleSuck there are also muslims, doctors, thiefs, and common people molesting children. Just because you find a black sheep somewhere it doesn't mean all the sheeps are evil.

  • @maxikronnont Yeah well I lost my care for the church when I realized most people there are show off more holy than thou art types. Too many bullshitters getting dressed up to show off as they go through the motions together.

  • @ThesePeopleSuck i agree with you partialy. i am a christian but i stoped going to church for the same reason alot of people there are fake i still read the bible and every thing but once in a while i will start to question my faith because some christian will make me mad and make me wonder wether the world should give up religion all together

  • @101vaporeon I'm also a Christian who stopped going to church- at least temporarily. I see many stupid things other Christians do, and it makes my head hurt, but I can't blame God for it. Chances are they make His head hurt too. No one's perfect- Christians included :) Peace!

  • @idioticlisa i agree
