Sometimes, I wish the song ended at 2:49 with the shadows of the punishers fading the scene out into a black screen. With the last line, there almost would've been room for pity for Frollo. I always felt like the last part of the song was a little too overdramatized when I first saw it D|

If you loved this song look up the song Tu Vas Me Detruire, its from the french musical Notre Dame de Paris, the song previously mentioned is essentially the same thing but with crushy rocks involved. :) you will not be dissapointed its a fantastic musical that goes more with the book than this movie did.
Italian and English version are the best. But I'd like to read the book by Victor Hugo. I read the plot on Wikipedia, and it's harder than the Disney's movie. Maybe in original language (I know also French)

I love Frollo. He's so awesome. He's so deliciously evil yet he loves/lusts for esmeralda with such intensity...it's so multi-faceted, his personality. He's proud yet he prays to Maria, it's so paradoxical because he's so awfully egocentric and narcissistic, yet he can be obsessed with something outside himself and even admit to the existence of a higher power. His conflicting traits make him all the more interesting, though. :)

The thing is, ever since seeing Esmeralda at the Festival of Fools, he's been "burning" inside. Obviously not with real love, just something horrible and crude called lust (you can ask any or my previous boyfriends about that :P) So, this song is used to describe his twisted nature instead of the mask he wears daily in front of Quasi. I'd willingly get burned alive rather then get with that gross, perv >:( He creeped me out as a kid and he still does >:P I love Ezmerelda's song best out of the whole movie, it says that everyone is God's children and it's just got such a comforting message. I'm so glad this guy dies in the end, he met such a fitting end :)

Its so funny how when I was a kid I watched this and was like "hes crazy and mean!" but now that im older I can appreciate this movie so much more

Frollo seems really weak if he cannot handle one attraction to another human being. This song is one of the most intense and complex in Disney.

I prefer this version way more than any other language. This actors voice is just perfect for this villian. Everyone else who played him had a whoa not suited voice. XD

I love Frollo. He's so awesome. He's so deliciously evil yet he loves/lusts for esmeralda with such intensity...it's so multi-faceted, his personality. He's proud yet he prays to Maria, it's so paradoxical because he's so awfully egocentric and narcissistic, yet he can be obsessed with something outside himself and even admit to the existence of a higher power. His conflicting traits make him all the more interesting, though. :)
This song is also totally great! <3
and Frollo is hot. xD

@rainbowheydrich He's certainly unusual for a Disney villain! Usually they're just evil, no motivation or anything, but you can tell that Frollo was really well thought out. He crosses all the lines, sexual tension, religious taboos, he's really wonderfully done. =)

The thing is, ever since seeing Esmeralda at the Festival of Fools, he's been "burning" inside. Obviously not with real love, just something horrible and crude called lust (you can ask any or my previous boyfriends about that :P) So, this song is used to describe his twisted nature instead of the mask he wears daily in front of Quasi. You see?

You know, i really didn't appricate how deep this song was when i was a kid...frollo is still crazy and a false christen in my opinion but this song is still comflicting....and this was supposed to be a kid's movie? wow, and this is the watered down version..
anyway, things really have changed, and now the movie makes more sense..

@ravenwoodwitch Well in all reality, Hunchback is one of, if not, the darkest movie Disney has produced. So it's understandable to find this hard to see this as a kid's movie.

@101vaporeon I'm also a Christian who stopped going to church- at least temporarily. I see many stupid things other Christians do, and it makes my head hurt, but I can't blame God for it. Chances are they make His head hurt too. No one's perfect- Christians included :) Peace!
