  • I love the chords to this, Vinnie. They are reminiscent of the Beatles but with a particular twist that I find highly original and very appealing. You actually expanded on that sound and made it, in a lot of ways, your own. The entire production is such a pleasure to listen to. Your work is truly unique and the amazing versatility of your range and musicianship is something to be greatly admired. Please keep that creative force going!

  • @singinjohnny

Thanx so much 4 the kind words! U grasped exactly what i was trying to do. The mission for me was "What would I have recorded if I were the Beatles?" I have a few other cuts ala the Fabs "Fab Gear", "Homicidal", and "John Lennon" that U may enjoy on m Reverb nation page.

  • This is excellent!!! Great songwriting!!!

  • @feeneyjoe1

    Thanx 4 the kind words!

  • @feeneyjoe1 Thanx so much I hope U will check out my Reverb Nation page to hear some more of my stuff.

  • as always, Vin, great stuff... great song.

  • @bradleydeanwhyte Nice of U to say Bradley. It;s still my fave song I've written. By the way....I can;t get your song out of my head ! (We Will Be Back)

  • masterpiece

  • @1belfi Thanx David!

  • Great man...Ringo rules!

  • @Freddyguitarslim Thanx for the kind words about my music.

  • Very cool Vinnie, Ringo is awesome huh?

  • @Noyz1ntheAttic Glad U enjoyed it. I'm a big fan of Ringo's drumming.

  • @Noyz1ntheAttic Glad U enjoyed it!

  • I would say this is a very "John song". Similar to "I Am The Walrus", or something like that from 1967... the singer even looks like John chewing gum !! But he managed to include a very Harrison guitar-slide, a very Ringo-beat and a Paul-bass-line...

  • Love it. Very Blue Jay Way.

  • @bunchie1966

    So glad U enjoyed it!

  • Great job Vinnie! Excellently Beatlesque. Keep making music and hope to see you play live sometime.

  • @TheUntamedOne

Thanx 4 the kind words! Please spread the word.

  • Nice! The fills are very Ringo.

  • Super !!!

  • Thanx Beatlemania 100. Glad U enjoyed it.

  • This is so cool

  • @ofdoubtsof god Glad U enjoyed it! I hope U will check out the album it came from :"Swinging Guitar Sounds of Young America " and the new one: "Swinging Guitar Sounds of Young America Vol 2" There is a song on the new one called "John Lennon" that U may enjoy if U are a Beatle fan.

  • Nice. Sounds like a cross between the Beatles and 10cc!!

  • Vinnie! This is, well.....FAB! I saw your post about this on the Ringo/Colin Hay vid, & rushed right over here. So glad I did! Tremendous job with LOVE shining thru all the talent and tasteful, Beatle-esque riffs! LOVE the Walrus feel, too! Unique AND anchored in that SOUND we LOVE. btw..check the BBC Band from Buffalo, here on youtube. They do a GREAT job, with all the proper gear as well! There's a LIVE performance of them at the Riviera Theatre that will blow your mind and make you SMILE! ty!

  • @lizzabbott

Thanx so much for the kind words about my video! Nice of U to say. On my CDs nearly every cut is an homage to a different artist. Hope U will check them out.

  • Vinnie...i totally see the Ringo style you were talking about...and the mccartney hofner bass

  • nice song, Funnily Enough it sounds like "When we was fab"

  • @Treepitband

Glad U enjoyed it but I've never thought it sounded anything at all like "When We Was Fab". Completely different chord sequence. I'm borrowing much more from "Walrus".U are not the first to say that tho'.

  • @Vazmusic I'ts not the chord sequence or melody , it's just the sound and arrangement are much more Jeff Lynn then George Martin

  • @Treepitband

Again I don't see it but....As long as U enjoyed the song.I tried to come up with a more modern version of what I imagined they might sound like now. I for one have never credited Linn that much with the sound of Free As A Bird and Real Love. That always sounded like pure Beatles arrangement wise to me. Sonically the drum sound was Linn like on those 2 songs.

  • Its going on my Daily Dose of Drumming for my students!

  • @drumznfishes

Nice of U to say! Thanx I did work hard on the drum trax. Actually on all the trax! U can hear my new song "John Lennon" on Soundcloud.

    Peace,

Vinnie Zummo, Joe Jackson Band guitarist

  • I Love this is there anywhere to go to get the lyrics to this song?????

  • I think I saw you on tour with Jumpin Joe Jackson years ago-AWSOME!!!!! Which album were you touring? Great song too!!! BEATLES #1

  • I love his hippie shirt-lol.

Hello from Sardinia Island (Mediterranean Sea)

    Stefano

  • @youstetube

Thanx so much! So glad U enjoy it. "Ringo" is from my Swinging Guitar Sounds of Youg America album. There is also a Fabs like song called "Fab Gear" on it. The new album SGSOYA Volume 2 has "John Lennon" and an homage to "Instant Karma" called "Homicidal". I hope U will check them out!

  • @CHAPAPA96

    Glad U enjoyed my video!

  • Nice ! Now if the 'New' Beatles song that came out on that Anthology in '95 sounded like THIS, i would've been pretty stoked ! 'Free As a Bird' was rather lame i thought.

  • @eartant

Thanx 4 the kind words about my song but I must disagree on one point. I LOVED Free As A Bird.

  • no doubt , this is a masterpiece

    best wishes from belfi

  • Vinnie-your friends are the ones who are 'mad' not you-this is a first rate tribute to Ringo Starr-damn I love his drumming-'she loves you' 'she said she said' 'rain' 'magical mystery tour'(the entire album)'something' and I love the drum sound on the entire 'abbey road' album-he had an uncanny sense of timing and hit the drums hard.

  • @onthemoveagain

Thanx so much for the kind words! Much appreciated. I hope U will check out my whole "Swinging Guitar Sounds Of Young America" album Each song is done in the style of a different band. I have another Fabs sound alike song on the CD called "Fab Gear".Sounds like a Sgt. Pepper song

  • Liked very much, are you going to do any more songs in this manner, as opposed to the jazz ones you have on youtube. I'd like more with this sound. Thank you for sharing your talent!

  • @karen608608

Glad U enjoyed ths osng. Thanx! Check out my "Swinging Guitar Sounds Of Young America" album at CD Baby.there is another Fabs soundalike and other soundalike stuff.I'm working on the new album and I have a tribute song for Lennon as well as an "Instant Karma"like song.

    Peace,

    VZ

  • @Vazmusic Sweet man! I'm gonna have to check that out once it gets posted.

As a Beatle fan, I really like the song, but I have to listen to it without looking at the video because you kinda look like this teacher I used to hate with a passion (uhg bad memories). Sorry if you take this as offensive, I think it's because of the facial hair... but you totally rock man. Keep up the good work. :]

    Peace and Love

  • @raverock

Glad U liked it and sorry I remind U of someone U don't like!

  • very Magical Mystery Toury... LOVE IT!!

  • @LeThereBeatles4ever

Glad U liked it! Thanx 4 the kind words.

  • This tune is very wonderful.

    The sound is exactly Beatles.

The guitar, the bass, and the drums were very nice play.

It was possible to see very happily.

  • Thanx so much for your comment ! If U like my song "Ringo" U will love the album it comes from "Swinging Guitar Sounds of Young America" .

The CD's very different. Every cut a completely different style of music, each an original song but played in the style of a different artist. Everything from The Beatles, Beach Boys, Cream, Jeff Beck, Blondie, Bob Wills,Les Paul, BB King, to Elvin Jones and more.

  • @Vazmusic : I'll look into it at cdbaby. : )

  • This is an excellent salute to Ringo and the Beatles. Do you know where we can download the song as an MP3?

  • So glad U enjoyed it! U can find this song on I Tunes or CD Baby & many others. U may enjoy the album "Swinging Guitar Sounds of Young America" that the song is on

  • @starkyboy

Thanx for the kind words! Nice 2 meet U.

  • Vinnie, your beautiful slide playing is a real tribute to George. Great song top to bottom. Always liked your guitar work with Joe Jackson. Didn't realize you were such a Beatle fan.

  • @gatner1

Thanx 4 the kind words! I'm a big time Beatle fan. Always was. .Particularly Ringo's playing.

  • Wow, the first 34 seconds totally got me hooked on the song. It caught my attention right off the bat. This song kind of reminds me of I am the walrus a little bit. Great job, Ringo would be proud. And did you really play all the instruments by yourself?

  • @RunningWolf102294

Thanx so much for the kind comments about my video. Yeah I'm playing everything except the cello , which was Reed Hays, and piccolo trumpet, which was Tim Ouimette. Those are real drums as well. The drums took the longest to do. I'm a guitarist by trade (google me) but I've always played drums and bass as well. I'm a big fan of Ringo's drumming.

    Peace,

    VZ

  • Very nice! Happy 70th birthday to Ringo on July 7th.

  • @MusicFanJackie

Thanx! So glad U enjoyed it.

  • Hi there! I happened to see a comment of yours promoting this song and I just had to look! :) This just might be my new favorite song....it's very similar to everything the Beatles have done, so it's my type of music. I really enjoyed it! <3 Did you write the entire thing yourself?

    Peace and love<3

  • I love ringo :)

  • Glad U enjoyed it!

  • Jonas Brothers are better :p ...Seriously though, this song and video are extremely well done, captures the Beatle sound perfectly! Even your Beatle mannerisms and such are spot on. Superb job! And it's nice to see a tribute to Ringo for a change, the poor guy gets a bad rap so many times, yet where would the Beatles be without him?

  • Thanx Timothy.So glad U liked it

    Peace,

    VZ

  • hi I have seen your video, and I liked a lot. arrangements, sound, all inspired by the Fab, pdero without falling into extravagance. It's a wonderful video and song. What else I can say. Really a job well done!

    José

  • @theoverbeat1964

Thanx so much Jose.U really "get" what I was trying to do. That means a lot.

  • Hey Vin,

I popped over form the "Meet the Beatles 4 Real" blog. You nailed it with this tune! Great job!!I You know, I've done a similar thing as you in that I create Beatle' sounding melodies in my head. Some are pretty good if I have to say so myself. However, I doubt they will ever get as far as yours. Besides, you have that guitar pick going for you. Keep em coming. Cheers, Dan

  • Hey Vinnie

Time to stop by again and listen to your great composition!

  • Vinnie,

This video should have a million views and I'm going to share this.

I love the little piece of harmony you stick in 1:16 to 1:20 just before the drum fills, great musical sensibilities.

  • So happy U like it so much! It's funny...Nobody has ever mentioned that harmony. It was one of the things I was proudest of in the whole song. I worked hard to get each part as much like the Fabs as possible. thanx so much!
