What diameter ball did you use for this? I'm cruising at the moment and I was going to try this movement today, but the only one I could find was so bloody large, I couldn't even sit down in the Hammer machine. I think there are smaller balls tucked away somewhere in the gym, and I'm really keen to give this variation a go ... as-is, my Iso-Inclines just aren't improving any more.
Did you find that you needed to change the seat height or anything else to accomodate it? I'm a DC trainer myself (please ignore most of "my" favorited vids; I share this account with my perv brother for simplicity's sake :D), and I'm keen to try this.
I definitely recommend the movement, especially for those like me who have a hard time getting the chest to contract.
the first time I tried these I probably spent 10 minutes messing around with different seat heights, hand placements, etc to find the best groove for my body. In fact, I had originally intended to use a roll of paper towels instead of the bosu ball but got lucky trying the latter. In sum, it pays dividends to spend some time optimizing the movement for your particular structure.
Question about the pec deck push press... i tried it today and the only thing i feel is my shoulders/biceps straining to keep the pads there. Set up just like you were, but my pec deck is different. They bascially dangle from the top and have maybe 7-8 swing left or right. Any advice? They can't lock in position.
I'm having a hard time imagining your machine. You need to be able to hold the pads like I am and get a stretch without bottoming out the stack. Also, make sure you're back is arched and shoulders rolled back the whole time. I also try to focus on keeping my elbows out...seems to activate the chest better. You will feel it some in the bicep but mainly there should be a deep stretch in the outer pec and burning in the inner pec (i'm actually starting to lose this feel so need to reevaluate).
Well, let's say the pads go straight up, and are on a joint that swivels for different arm lengths.
I've got chest and what not today (i'm on dc 2 day split) so i will give this another try.
Thanks man
Also, the hammer strength presses, any reason you go closer in rather than farther out? I always though that hit the triceps more, as in a close grip bench.
I put the bosu ball there for two reasons: 1) so that at the bottom of the rep I would be in a deep stretch and 2) so that at the top of the motion my hands would be very close together. I conceivable could have used several extra pads but this seemed to achieve the same effect more easily. I arch and roll my shoulders back in all pressing anyways.
My chest is a problem area because I've too often chosen movements where my arms do very little adduction with the result that my delts do all of the work. This training cycle I'm going to change all that starting with this bosu ball hammer incline
Ah, I have a tendency to turn every exercise into a shoulder exercise! So I hear you on trying to take them out of the picture. I'm surprised to hear you call your chest a problem area, in your posing it always looks solid and well proportioned. When u gonna compete?
How much did the addition of the bosu take away from your training poundages on the Hammer Incline? That stretch looks killer (in a good way, naturally!).

You use the Bosu to change the angle?
