I hate this battle, I have tried I think 12 times now and every time I get him down to about 2/3 health he casts doom and I just can't do anything it's been every time I haven't actually had the opportunity to finish the battle not even had a chance to beat him

I saw that he casts doom after 20 minutes (it may be not releated with the remaining HP...). I've fought him yesterday spending a lot of time just to see this mothafocka casting fucking doom whit 600k hp left... just impossible... Now I'll try with buffs and debuffs... @XR782VT yeah, I beat the game last night. If you think this battle is hard, wait till you fight the proudclad . don't worry too much about the final bosses, they were kind of a dissapointment difficulty wise. As long as you have a good synergist and sabeteur you should be alright.

@walruzz099 Yea, I had a circuit in Taejin's tower that got me around 72-75,000 CP every 20-30 minutes. I did that circuit on and off for 3 days. I am now level 4 in all my original roles with every character and have almost levelled up 1 extra role with everybody. They are all withing 2.5 rings of hanving a full optional role. Just tried him for the first time and took too long. He doomed me and i just gave up. 5 min to take half health away 1200 count for other half. No time :(

NOOO!!! You CAN remove DOOM(as in the buff)!!! All you have to do is SUMMON!!! And TAA DAA it'sa gone!!! well.... after the eiodolon is gone because u see it takes out buffs and debuffs AFTER the fight and DOOM is a buff(or so the bad one)

I beat this boss in 12 minutes. I never had a boss cast Doom in this game. I think you all are taking too long to beat the bosses. I had a maxed crystarium and all my weapons were maxed out before this fight. I had like 5-6k health on each character. I farm CP constantly to keep up and max out. Easy boss and an easy game.
i dont need to level up because i maximized all my characters' original roles, and i have 600,000+ crystogen points, but i dont have a fucking idea how to beat him, when he casted doom, my dreams fell apart, thought that was an easy one but with that fucking doom that doesn't even misses,

@TheGamerguy381 Haha, no they shouldn't :P EVERY final fantasy game (with the exception of X-2, which was shite) has been incredibly challenging, and they're meant to be. it makes it more fun. The point of the game is not to have a difficulty setting, cuz that would suck, it would take all the fun out of the challenge. the point is, if you can't beat the boss ur on, go back, kill loads of other creatures, level up your characters and come back. adding a difficulty patch would be so gay.
I tried the strategy guide way and kept getting my ass handed to me halfway through since doom kept killing me. I switched my usual party (light, hope, fang) to light, vanille, and sazh and i obliterated this boss he didn't even cast doom on me. i used even odds, relentless assault, tireless attack (i think that's the name), and the one where there's to COM and one MED. Make sure sazh has haste and vanille has slow and you should be golden.
If he does cast Doom on your lead character then summon your Eidolon just before the time runs out. Your Eidolon will revive you so you can continue the battle.

@MissRetroPink it only stops it for the duration of the summon, one the summon is gone the time continues. i tried it last night when fighting him again and still couldn't do it. fucking hate this guy he is the reason i gave up for a while only to come back and remember why i stopped in the first place.

@GoonChuck Wow, I can tell you right now my characters were no where near that high! So HP isn't an issue and neither are the Crystariums. Sounds more like a strategy issue. When I fought him I had Lightning, Sazh, and Vanille. They were about 4,000 apiece for HP. I started out with Lightning being a Ravanger, Vanille as a Sab, and Sazh as a Syn. When haste and peril were cast, I switched to all three of them being Rav's until he staggered. Then, I shifted to Lightning and Sazh as Comm...
@GoonChuck and Vanille as a Medic. Just repeat this if Peril goes away or Haste. Keep staggering him and keep in mind that when he is staggered he's vunerable to Physical attacks. When your health gets low, Switch them all to Medics, it's quicker and saves time. You can use a summon, but I didn't. When and if doom gets cast, do NOT restore health unless necessary! I used renew a couple times instead of a summon. So basically, you need (In Lightning, Sazh, and Vanille order) RAV, SYN, SAB...
@GoonChuck RAV,RAV, RAV... COM, COM, MED... and MED, MED, MED. Sorry if I've repeated what has already been said but it worked for me and I was lower than you. Luck is a big thing in this battle!
If this boss casts doom on you use your summon when the timer gets to 200 and don't go into gestalt mode. When you die, and you will die your summon will bring you back to life. Personally I thought this fight was really easy, but I was fully leveled up in all my characters main roles. :P
Iv gt my charcters leveled up as far as they go and cant beat him. He keeps on castin doom at 1000000 instead of 500000. Does he cast it at a particular time in the battle?
At less than half of his total HP. (What?! He's supposed to be hard!) Well, now he's breaking out the big guns. No biggie. He has an attack that starts with an A, something like Apriopose or something like that, which will get rid of any buffs you have left pretty much. No biggie, he's almost dead, right? Work on staggering him again (Which is easy.) He's staggered again, so debuff him with deprotect and deshell again. Relentless Assault/Aggression to finish.
Alright, the battle starts. I line up a bar of Thunder (Because Lightning's fastest cast time is with the Thunder spell), then I shift to Smart Bomb (Rav, Rav, Sab) to get ready to Stagger Barthandelus and... Fang inflicts him with Deprotect and Deshell. Oh snap! I stagger Barthandelus, and do another ATB bar of spells in Smart Bomb to boost his stagger chain, then I shift to Aggression (Com/Rav/Com) and start wailing on him. By the time his first stagger is up, I have him (Cont...)
Just wanted to add that I beat Barthandelus in Chapter 11 today in 2 minutes. With upgraded weapons. He isn't hard, you just need to learn how to play the game. Though I did grind until I got role level 4 in all 3 primary roles for each character, and I made Fang learn the 4-5 basic Ravager spells so that I could beast with Tri-Disaster.
Started with Aegisol and Fortisol (Again, the shrouds are there, use them .), and Relentless Assault as my default Paradigm. (Continued..)
Evened Odds OR Bully OR Solidarity OR Entourage (Either one would work.)
It's going to be a long battle regardless of what you do, but it should be hell of a lot shorter than this clip. I've never had any problems 5 starring him.
If you're using upgraded weapons or accessories, you might also want to take them off, and use level 1 gear. Stupid game expects me to kill 2 Rust puddings in 12 seconds without a preemptive to get 5 stars.
Once you get him debuffed, switch back to Relentless Assault to build up his chain gauge as much as you can, using the refresh trick to make the most of your time/attacks. Use Combat Clinic when necessary or to remove certain debuffs to your characters. (Fog on Hope, or Pain on Lightning/Fang). Curse isn't a big deal. Poison isn't a big deal. When his stagger bar gets about half way left, switch to Aggression, Com Rav Com.
If you want to use shrouds, use them. That's why they're there. (Cont.)
I've played this game on PS3 about 4 times now, and I've never had Barthandelus cast Doom on me. I don't understand why anyone has trouble with this boss.
Try using a Smart Bomb paradigm, Rav Rav Sab. Learn to use the Paradigm refresh trick. Start off with Relentless Assault, after the first wave of attack, Paradigm Shift to another Relentless Assault so you can continue building his stagger. Then when he's staggered, shift to Smart Bomb. He can be debuffed with deprotect and deshell. (Cont)
i honestly dont see how anyone can struggle with bosses on this game. Here's a good tip, as soon as you get to ch 11 go past the king behemoth and wolf that give u 6600cp and go into the cave. find 3 hoplites standing in the way of the road beat them and fight the next two ahead after that back track and preempt the 3 hoplites again over and over gives around 2300 cp if i remember once u r beating them easy go on to the behemoth until ur max crystogen levels for major roles, get gil too.
@xbeatusx that dosent work on the xbox version you cant go there on chapter eleven so unless you know to do it on chapter 9 or 10 which you arnt really strong enough to do because it is way harder to lvl up on the xbox version sadly thats why i end up watching these videos
@333ville what are you talking about I'm playing the xbox version and y wouldnt u be able to walk into mahabara in ch 11 u have to go that way to move on after all. and ch 9 and 10 arent even on gran pulse so what r u talking about.
If you use sazh as a buffer and put on every buff possible right at the start you should win every boss fight. I went through this whole game without getting killed from bosses.
i had left this game for 4-5 months (because of him) , i remembered the good moments yesterday and took a shot at this guy , went pretty smoothely , it was easy , until i met the "Death Curse" or i dunno what its called , i had 2 mins to deal 2,207,000 damage to him...
During the 3 times ive lost against him, he ends up using doom after about 20 minutes, so if you can beat him before that he wont use it

@TheGamerguy381 Haha, no they shouldn't :P EVERY final fantasy game (with the exception of X-2, which was shite) has been incredibly challenging, and they're meant to be. it makes it more fun. The point of the game is not to have a difficulty setting, cuz that would suck, it would take all the fun out of the challenge. the point is, if you can't beat the boss ur on, go back, kill loads of other creatures, level up your characters and come back. adding a difficulty patch would be so gay.

I tried the strategy guide way and kept getting my ass handed to me halfway through since doom kept killing me. I switched my usual party (light, hope, fang) to light, vanille, and sazh and i obliterated this boss he didn't even cast doom on me. i used even odds, relentless assault, tireless attack (i think that's the name), and the one where there's to COM and one MED. Make sure sazh has haste and vanille has slow and you should be golden.

If he does cast Doom on your lead character then summon your Eidolon just before the time runs out. Your Eidolon will revive you so you can continue the battle.

@MissRetroPink it only stops it for the duration of the summon, one the summon is gone the time continues. i tried it last night when fighting him again and still couldn't do it. fucking hate this guy he is the reason i gave up for a while only to come back and remember why i stopped in the first place.

@GoonChuck Wow, I can tell you right now my characters were no where near that high! So HP isn't an issue and neither are the Crystariums. Sounds more like a strategy issue. When I fought him I had Lightning, Sazh, and Vanille. They were about 4,000 apiece for HP. I started out with Lightning being a Ravanger, Vanille as a Sab, and Sazh as a Syn. When haste and peril were cast, I switched to all three of them being Rav's until he staggered. Then, I shifted to Lightning and Sazh as Comm...

@GoonChuck and Vanille as a Medic. Just repeat this if Peril goes away or Haste. Keep staggering him and keep in mind that when he is staggered he's vunerable to Physical attacks. When your health gets low, Switch them all to Medics, it's quicker and saves time. You can use a summon, but I didn't. When and if doom gets cast, do NOT restore health unless necessary! I used renew a couple times instead of a summon. So basically, you need (In Lightning, Sazh, and Vanille order) RAV, SYN, SAB...

If this boss casts doom on you use your summon when the timer gets to 200 and don't go into gestalt mode. When you die, and you will die your summon will bring you back to life. Personally I thought this fight was really easy, but I was fully leveled up in all my characters main roles. :P

At less than half of his total HP. (What?! He's supposed to be hard!) Well, now he's breaking out the big guns. No biggie. He has an attack that starts with an A, something like Apriopose or something like that, which will get rid of any buffs you have left pretty much. No biggie, he's almost dead, right? Work on staggering him again (Which is easy.) He's staggered again, so debuff him with deprotect and deshell again. Relentless Assault/Aggression to finish.
Easy as pie. 5 stars.

Alright, the battle starts. I line up a bar of Thunder (Because Lightning's fastest cast time is with the Thunder spell), then I shift to Smart Bomb (Rav, Rav, Sab) to get ready to Stagger Barthandelus and... Fang inflicts him with Deprotect and Deshell. Oh snap! I stagger Barthandelus, and do another ATB bar of spells in Smart Bomb to boost his stagger chain, then I shift to Aggression (Com/Rav/Com) and start wailing on him. Just wanted to add that I beat Barthandelus in Chapter 11 today in 2 minutes. With upgraded weapons. He isn't hard, you just need to learn how to play the game. Though I did grind until I got role level 4 in all 3 primary roles for each character, and I made Fang learn the 4-5 basic Ravager spells so that I could beast with Tri-Disaster.
Started with Aegisol and Fortisol (Again, the shrouds are there, use them .), and Relentless Assault as my default Paradigm. (Continued..)

It's going to be a long battle regardless of what you do, but it should be hell of a lot shorter than this clip. I've never had any problems 5 starring him.
If you're using upgraded weapons or accessories, you might also want to take them off, and use level 1 gear. Stupid game expects me to kill 2 Rust puddings in 12 seconds without a preemptive to get 5 stars.

Once you get him debuffed, switch back to Relentless Assault to build up his chain gauge as much as you can, using the refresh trick to make the most of your time/attacks. Use Combat Clinic when necessary or to remove certain debuffs to your characters. (Fog on Hope, or Pain on Lightning/Fang). Curse isn't a big deal. Poison isn't a big deal. When his stagger bar gets about half way left, switch to Aggression, Com Rav Com.
If you want to use shrouds, use them. That's why they're there. (Cont.)

I've played this game on PS3 about 4 times now, and I've never had Barthandelus cast Doom on me. I don't understand why anyone has trouble with this boss.
Try using a Smart Bomb paradigm, Rav Rav Sab. Learn to use the Paradigm refresh trick. Start off with Relentless Assault, after the first wave of attack, Paradigm Shift to another Relentless Assault so you can continue building his stagger. Then when he's staggered, shift to Smart Bomb. He can be debuffed with deprotect and deshell. (Cont)

i honestly dont see how anyone can struggle with bosses on this game. Here's a good tip, as soon as you get to ch 11 go past the king behemoth and wolf that give u 6600cp and go into the cave. find 3 hoplites standing in the way of the road beat them and fight the next two ahead after that back track and preempt the 3 hoplites again over and over gives around 2300 cp if i remember once u r beating them easy go on to the behemoth until ur max crystogen levels for major roles, get gil too.

i had left this game for 4-5 months (because of him) , i remembered the good moments yesterday and took a shot at this guy , went pretty smoothely , it was easy , until i met the "Death Curse" or i dunno what its called , i had 2 mins to deal 2,207,000 damage to him...
