@sonicthehedgehogxp No, it's not really necessary. I bought it separately, just for the sake of completism, although sometimes i have thought to ditch it and rack the Radias.
please could you do me (and maybe others) a HUGE favour and record some of the organs and acoustic instruments (if any) from the radias like Piano/flute?
However, with a beautiful synth like that, couldn't you route the sound to the camcorders or computers audio in? It makes it that much more beautiful.
great performance, this korg radias can be used for severeal functions in movie and teckno business. and to animated films great to that., since you can use voice vocoder. fun tool.
not as such, as you have to rely on any free assignable controllers on the m3 itself. It does indeed have the vocoder on the exp board, but again youre using the m3's fx engines for it. Its not a bad trade off, but the radias is TRULLY 4 part multitimbral, and has dedicated outs , etc. To my ears on an a/b test, the radias sounded better and sharper than the exp board, which for some reason doesnt sound as gutsy.
As an aside i dont understand, the R3 AND microkorg xl BOTH exisiting right now
I need the keyboard...AND the synth seperately? Or does it have the keyboard with it optionally or something. If not, I have several yamahas. Will they work with this? I see it kinda pointless if you just want the synth and need the right keyboard to go along.
The keyboard is optional. You can connect the midi out of your Yamaha into the midi in of the Radias and you'll have the full package.
You could also connect your keyboard to an USB port in your computer and connect the computer to the USB port in your Radias, bypassing the MIDI standard cable. If you want. It's pretty flexible.
u don't need midi controllers or keyboard at all. If you have sequencing software (ableton, logic etc.) u can record midi thru usb for each timbre on separate chanels and then u can use midi routing and play with 4 different timbres in the same time
wot actually does it do???? does it just make beats???
my friend had sum korg gadget that would like make a back up rhythm...do u no wot i mean?? they dont make it anymore so i was wondering if there was anything more up to date
sorry...im too lazy to go through the korg site to look for it...im crap with these gadgets...its worse than german for me
Knobs are nice on this one. Actually never had a korg product with shitty buttons and knobs, so it's probably a reputation from the past. This one is hella solid, same with my KP3.
I think Mikamulperi was referring to that talking sound in your demo like at 1:29. "oy gwen woh" etc etc. So was that you on the vocoder or was that the formant record function?
i wonder if you could use the radias the same way as a tb 303 and make some acid house bass lines.... thats the only reason i would get it, seems kinda cheezy otherwise. i might get one and pair it up with my m3. if i do i will post videos.
No, its got a Vocoder. You speak into a mic and then you can play chords so that what you say gets whatever chord you play... yeah i suck at explaining. Do a search for vocoder :D
Yeah I know what vocoder is, I have Micron and microKorg :) but thanks. Just curious if Radias had a speech generator also, that would have been nice.
no it's a a mic. it looks like a cheesy nsync headset mic. byou you can use any mic you have. it has a condenser or dynamic mic option, which leads me to believe it has phantom power? i haven't looked into that yet.
how come i think this sounds very digital and not really like cool modeled analogue sound...which korg tries to sell to me. :/

im gettin an r3, anyone know if the r3's sound quality is quite as good as hte radias? or any where near

The sound quality is the same, you just get less parts to work with. One R3 = Half Radias.

You can rackmount this. You don't need the keyboard to play.

it makes noises, lots of noises, trying to mimik an actual analogue synth
DvsPolak 3 years ago
No, it's a 4 part synthesizer. It can also be programmed to play some beats.
If you want something cheap and cool to make beats, try the Electribe EMX-1. They are all over ebay.

It has two 16 step sequencers that can be linked to one 32 steps sequencer.

@robotmasternemmo
It is updated with the RADIAS OS 2.0: now it has two 32 sep sequencers that can be linked to one 64 steps sequencer.
