I haven't read or seen any comparisons to T-Mobile's current top-of-line phone, the WING, a WM touchscreen device also made by HTC. It's of course not a 3G phone, but i wish i could get a sense of "what's better?" about actual usage. Google Maps runs great on my WING, with GPS, satellite view, etc. WING has slideout keyboard, "joystick" as well as touch controls... and when you dump the crappy stock t-mo/WM rom, replace with an XDA rom like OpenTouch, very responsive. Anyone know?

This is the real deal. I just played with my friend's beta model. It has a very nice interface and the physical QWERTY keyboard is a nice extra. It's a little bit thicker than the iPhone but is very comfortable in your hand. The touchscreen is not as sensitive as the iPhone touchscreen but it does the job. I think the best feature is the combo of the touchscreen and the trackball (like the Blackberry Pearl) that lets you to fly around the interface quickly. Can't wait until this comes out!

I actually agree with Jason Michael. Americans are really budget minded which causes a lot of phones on the market today to not be anywhere near as good as those on the Asian market. And before anybody flames me, I work for T-Mobile :p There are several carriers that will just continually come out with a phone that gets me thinking "Why do they keep coming out with this garbage?!" A lot of Americans would rather have cheapy free phones than pay for quality.

I don't. Americans don't have to pay more for higher quality phones, as some of our telcos are already indicating to us. The iPhone doesn't HAVE to come with a data plan, Apple and AT&T simply force you to take one -- but they're selling the phone for $199. Palm sells the Centro for $99.

You don't have to pay alot for a good phone, and only idiots will think that throwing money at a problem will solve it, like thinking that you have to pay alot for "quality technology."

I'm not anti-american :). If you think that quality technology doesn't come at a price, you must have been in a coma since, ummm, birth. Telcos more often than not take a loss when they sell a device to their customers. They offset that cost by requiring contracts. The real problem is that America has screwed itself in the global economy through years of excessive generosity and pays a premium on imports, while other countries won't spend a yen on American products.
