  • i must tell you i am so impressed with your prompt and kind responses. i have loved my dogs dearly for so many years(i'm 60) that it is a great pleasure to enjoy the world access the internet provides and to find others who love their animals this way. your original film of ben in france was absolutely gorgeous and i have shown it to many friends. thanks for the info--i will continue to follow ben and as "the soph" said just now "ruff, rwwwwr".

  • @rmymsu Thank you, and much obliged. I believe WFTs are special and deserve every mention they can get. Ben, snoozing happily to my right, looks up briefly and smiles as only he can, before returning to chase that never-never rabbit in his dreams.

  • beautiful video and wft. ben must be fairly young here because his colors are so vivid. our wft sophie is 6 and colors are now pale. we love here but wish she was as sociable as ben. she loves people but we can't let her around other dogs--wants to fight everything.

  • @rmymsu thanks for your kind comments. Ben gets stripped twice a year, that ensures his coat remains vivid. Takes a lot longer than a simple trim but pays off in the long run. Big ruff to Sophie from Ben :)

  • Muy bonito perro y muy buenos videos.

    Un saludo desde España.

  • @valdellopis gracias a lot :)

  • Pretty video. I love WFT too but I also love the Parson Russell. I enjoy watching any video that respectfully portrays the dog and his curiousity. He's very cute.

  • @Sandra9135 thanks for your kind comments, Sandra. Ben is blushing from ear to ear...

  • hahahahah on the paddlin!!

  • Looks like he enjoyed himself explorin <3

  • @Msjojo3328 he sure did, though his paddling was a bit poor :)

  • i have a dog just like the one in 0:52 can anyone please tell me the breed i adopt him but no ones his breed !!!!

  • Alfie dog is now a 'big boy' (8 months). I say a big boy but my suspicion is they remain puppies forever? Alfie has just discovered that his water bowl can double as a paddling pool (!) Wait 'til he discovers the beach at the end of our street in France (we couldn't take him until now) I think he'll be the talk of the village. I take him to puppy training school, but we've had to sit out ,on numerous occasions, because he is so naughty. He ate a Dalmation's poo last Thursday...

  • I Live in Little Rock and Fayetteville Arkansas with My 14 yr wft "Fred" and 2 yr old

wft "Doc. They are full of love and sprit. Would have nothing but WFT'S. Love seeing

    other families enjoying theirs!

  • @wftbrown11 trying to imagine what it must be like having two WFTs ... and can't. One's enough to keep us on our toes :) Have been told that 2 (male) WFTs won't always get on, but obviously not the case with Fred and Doc. All the best to them and you from sunny Europe, and a big "ruff" from Ben

  • a happy foxxx! likes.

  • @koteshub thanks :)

  • hey.

  • Soooo cute. I have two smooth coat foxies. One black and white aged 16 and a brown and white aged 8. Love the wire coat but very rare here in Australia. have only seen 1 other smooth coat in the past 6 years. Have had 4 and wouldn't have any other breed now. Thanks for sharing your video.

  • @MsCaz007 whey - so good to hear that even down-under WFTs have their following. Wait till I tell Ben! But seriously, the picture re. their popularity sadly is little different here in Europe. If I had a pound each time I've heard 'Cracking dog, but you don't see them often these days' I'd be living in Downing Street by now.

I think FTs have the reputation of being 'difficult' (dog knows why...). Anyhoo, hope their online presence helps to reverse that.

Thanks for your kind comments, cheers.

  • CUTE Ben!!!!.and he chose the rigth place to sped his time

  • @writemeoffyourlist Yep, Ben knows where life is good. Thanks :)

  • We just collected five-month old Alfie from Wales today and already he has settled in and stolen our hearts and those of everyone he met on the journey back to London- he is amazing. He's coming to France at Easter and then moving there, with us, in July. He's sitting with his head on my knee as I write this and mark dissertations, because he's too curious to sleep any longer. I'm in love!

  • @maxnll Yay, Alfie goes forth! They do steal your heart, don't they? Sorry for the late reply, this somehow slipped through the net.

  • I love him!!

  • My Wire Fox would growl when she was excited & not necessarily being aggressive .

She would growl and bark at other dogs then run up to them wanting to play.

  • yep, in my experience the overriding emotion with FTs is curiosity, not aggression. That's not to say that their nosy nature might not rub the recipient the wrong way, but then, that's their problem :)

  • Wow. France is beautiful

  • hay que educado yo tambien tengo una Fox Terrier pero es traviesa

  • omg, too cute!

  • 55 sec, when he snout to snouts with the Collie,

    is so sweet and touching.

Some say WiFos can be aggressive or at least competitive with other dogs,

but my friend's high energy WiFo loves other dogs,

and is especially gentle with smaller dogs.

And going after the loafs of bread

    -typical WiFo.

How is this guy with water? does he like to swim?

  • keenly observed, and very true. Ben can be a bit bouncy with some dogs, but only in an excited way (which some dislike nonetheless). He's mad about sea water, but will give puddles and ponds a wide berth - nice touch to please his owners :)

  • Awww! Soooo cute! He's just like mine! (Though my fox terrier has never been to France...)

  • ty ty ty - then again, fox terriers are a good-looking breed, period (says Ben exiting stage left before involuntarily head-butting the door frame)

  • Bonjour Ben. Qu'est-ce qu'un beau garçon que vous êtes! Et le pays est très, très jolie. Bon aventure et bonne journée!

  • Cool,we are getting a ginger one soon(cant wait :)Lovely clip, always wanted to come to France for a holiday.

  • thanks so much, and good luck with your new arrival soon

  • QUE PERRO Y PAIS TAN BONITOS!!!

  • @Johaxi Es una raza chilena XD.

  • fox terrier are very beautifull and smart dogs....

  • (Ben clears his throat then cocks his head in most photogenic way before answering) - They certainly are that! ruff ruff ruff ruff rrrruff! Thanks for making my day QueenScorpio.

  • Ben is adorable! He's really beautiful. I have a norfolk terrier and I would like to own a wire fox terrier someday.

  • cute dog! :D whats the song called?

  • Thank you for the lovely moments with Ben. I have Liam who looks much like Ben & right now Liam's trying so hard to figure out how your dog got inside my computer. He's very intense this moment, turning his head from side to side. lol. Thanks again.

  • Hehe, just like I smile in a bemused human fashion at how that cute image of Liam's terrier deliberations suddenly ended up in my head, from one second to the next :)

Thanks for your kind comments and for setting such a tangible scene. And if Liam still hasn't sussed it (unlikely) - 'It's terrier magic, old chap,' explains Ben with a furry wink, 'get used to it. Ruff ruff!'

  • Nice videoclip!! I like it !!!

  • Que hermoso perro y que hermoso paisage wow

  • This is great. Looked like you both had fun. You inspired me to do the same with my WFT puppies. Thank you.

  • If he's anything like my Fox Terrier dont take him anywhere near small rodents including Squrrels Rabbits, took him to St Ives, must have killed every rabbit within a mile radius! Total hunters those Fox Terriers they just can't help it.

  • hehehe, that's terriers alright. Yeah, given half a chance Ben would terminate every rodent in sight. After all, many terriers were, and still are, employed for ratting. Still, we have managed to take the edge off his hunting instincts a little in recent years - I guess a full feed bowl twice every day regardless will have even terriers re-assess their priorities :))

  • Lovely places!

  • Glad to hear your FT is doing well. Ben is 6 now, though age doesn't seem to show much with this crafty breed. I've met 14-year-old FTs that still looked in their prime.

  • Je viens souvent car le fox me rappelle tant la mienne ! merci encore d'avoir pu le filmer.***********************10

  • merci bien, Josette :))

  • mais c'est un plaisir pour moi !!!

  • Nice video. My parents' fox looks almost like an identical twin.

  • Thanks very much. Looks like good looks propagate fast and far afield :))

  • I have fox terrier too.

  • Thanks for nice movie and sweet sound.

    This made me so relaxed.

    Every scene is fascinating!

I added this one into my favorites :)

Ben's back pattern looks like my fox terrier nana.

  • Thanks so much for your kind comments. Glad you enjoyed the video.

  • Wow one of my favourite breed, in this video I miss watching this dog run and jump

  • I can assure you, Ben DOES run and jump. Check out his Scotland videos for a graphic demonstration. Bet you didn't know he's ace at canoeing though... :))

  • superschönes Video. Foxterrier machen viel Spass, ich habe auch welche. Toll aufgenommen.

  • Thanks for your kind comments, and a wuff-wuff back to your lot.

  • Bellissimo filmato, la mia Fox è mancata il 13 dicembre, e mi manca tantissimo....

  • Mi dispiace :(( Gracie molto, e per che trovato un altro Fox

    Forgive my poor Italian...

  • Oh, goodness!! I have only just found this and i cant believe how much he looks like my wires and has exactly the same traites!! Ours go to the south of france with us each summer and ive kayaked, but not sure i could trust them!! Im not sure we have got the upper hand with them both yet, but will keep trying!! Teddy age 3, and Lily age 11 months are just part of our world here in Essex England..Lovely video xx

  • Thanks Jane - looks like the fox terrier mould is unbreakable, and keeps churning out few but perfectly formed specimen. Ben loves boats BTW. Yes, he goes overboard on occasion when his frisky temper gets the better of him (ie. always). FTs certainly need to know who's boss, so do keep at it. And still, as someone once said, life without fox terriers is conceivable, but utterly pointless. Best, and a double wuff to Essex from Ben

  • i love that Dog ..... SHEYLA was the of my lovlely dog .. i really miss her a lot ... she left me 4 years ago.. i can not put it togheter yet.. :´(

  • What a lovely video and what a lovely Fox Terrier

  • thanks so much issie, glad you liked it :))

  • Ah, memories......

my fox died last winter - miss him!!!

  • sorry to hear that. Hope the memories help a little.

  • I am in love with this breed especially yours. I want one but puppies are so hard to come by

There are not many puppies registered each year unlike Labradors and others which have thousands. I am hoping to rescue one but finding a rescue one is hard also. There is one down our street who is adorable but since kidnap is out of the question I will just have to watch her walk by with her real owner and wish that that was me. If only she knew how good I would treat her she would come running to me!!

  • thanks for writing, asda. Don't know where you live but most counties' national kennel clubs and breeders associations publish a list of recommended breeders on their web pages. You might even be able to put your name down there as a rescue dog candidate. A word of warning though: terriers can be somewhat unpredictable if not bonded with their owner from an early stage in their lives. Anyway, good luck with your quest.

  • We have now found an adorable wire fox terrier from a rescue. His owners did not have time to give him all the love he needed and so they entrusted him to the Terrier Rescue where we found him. We are now giving him much love and affection and helping him settle in. He is 14 months old and is such a wonderful dog. We called him Finn. We love him.

  • I'm very pleased for you, and for Finn to have found a happy home :))

  • Je t'aime, cute dog!

    Kawaiiiii!

  • Merci merci merci :)) (licks tip of his nose and swaggers off stage to a deafening roar...)

  • I love those dogs,,i think they are the best breed.

  • How could I disagree? Thanks, and ruff-raff :))

  • Just lovely! Your videography is awesome. I think I must have one of these little guys for myself! Thanks for sharing!

  • Much appreciated :)) And yes, you ought to, because, though life without a fox terrier is possible, it's utterly pointless.

  • Just spoil us some more! Looks just like my "Good Golly Miss molly"! Thanks for the treat!

  • You're welcome, Joellen. Good name BTW, though a bit of a mouthful when calling your dog perhaps?

  • how did you get your wire haired fox terrier to behave so well? I have 2 wire hairs and they are not that calm and can't sit still. And btw your dog is beautiful

  • The secret to enjoying life with a well-behaved FT (in my view) is to be very firm with them during puppy age. And I mean being boss 24/7. They WILL try to get the upper paw when ever there's a chink of an opportunity, so don't let them. After about 12-18 months, they have accepted their place in the "pack" (ie. beta-male at best) and that, as they say, is that.

Thanks for your kind remarks BTW - will pass on to Ben who might not have made alpha male status but sure as hell is vain as anything

  • ~~~~~~just lovely!

  • Absolutly Beautiful Dog and video. Thanks for sharing. There is no love like that for a wire fox terrier.

  • Thanks so much for your kind comments, which had Ben's head bumping into just about every door frame in the house :))

  • i have a couple ASTA and GUGA !!

  • Wire hairs love to go on trips and explore new places. That's great you bring him everywhere.

  • nice dog, nice trip, nice video

  • its so nice there

  • 0:17

    "erm........Bonjour!" :D

  • What a beautiful dog and video. Well done. He's got lovely markings. I'm on my second FT. Pippin is now 6 months old and so similar to my first one in so many ways. \just the best dogs in the world. \I love them. I couldn't have any other breed.

  • Couldn't agree more - thanks so much :))

  • vive le Ben!!

  • gorgeous dog and video!

  • Message from video owner:

Please note that I was forced to remove the music soundtrack from this video (O Marie by Daniel Lanois) and replace it with a library track, since Mr Lanois challenged for copyright. While he is correct in claiming ownership I might question his judgement on this occasion, since his work was a) not reproduced in a commercial application, b) not used in an inappropriate context, and c) might have gained some additional (albeit minimal by all accounts) exposure.

  • wow, how silly of that musician. it's not like you're making a ton of money off of his track. if anything, he was getting free publicity.

  • :') my wire fox terries died 4 years ago i miss them very much very nice, sweet, curious dogs

  • What a great video. My WFT is also named Ben but I fear he is not as well behaved as your Ben. What is the song you used in the video? It just seems to go so nicely with the antics of a wire hair.

  • Love seeing the Auvergne region through Ben's views! He's a beautifully happy fellow! His coat is outstanding; do you groom his coat by hand-stripping method? Thanks so very much for sharing views of Ben on his travels and playtime! :->

  • Thanks for your kind comments! Yes, Ben is being hand-stripped (cuz he's worth it).

  • We are on the waiting list for a "ben", can't wait, your dog is adorable, and seeing as we spend most of our holidays in France can't wait to take our new arrival their next year.

  • Good for you! And for your WFT in absentia. "Power to the breed," growls Ben inbetween dinner chomps (thought I taught him not to speak with his mouth full?), frontpaw punching the air. And yes - you're gonna love travelling the Continent with your new friend to be. Just make sure his dog passport is completed properly by your vet, and hold tight when dog-o smells the garlic...

  • I just got home from spending the summer in the south of France. The hardest thing about the trip was leaving our Wirehair at home. Ben looks like a good guy!

    au revoir

  • Oh, you really MUST take your WFT next time! Ben loved France to bits, and, more significantly, the French loved him! They really are a very dog-friendly country - unlike the UK, where one might easily get the impression dogs live their lives in the backs of cars. And canine immigration is a doddle as long as your furry friend is micro-chipped.

  • beautiful

  • beautiful landscape and ben is so cute!!

  • And thank you too. We have just returned from Scotland, so more videos up in next few weeks I hope.

  • Once again a beautiful video of Ben!

  • Thank you! Ruff-ruff-whrrrr!

  • Nice video, Beautiful dog. The Landscapes are great! Also your video in Scotland. Love it!

  • Thanks for your kind comments. The Auvergne is indeed a beautiful place. Oh, and Ben says "ruff-ruff-whrrrr!" ("Thank you folks", for all those not speaking Dog).

  • I think I love my WFT named Victoria more than most people in my family. Isn't that terrible. We have a special bond unlike no other. I am sure Ben is your heart throb as well. thanks for sharing your trips with Ben. He is a doll. I will look forward to your next trip.
