While my favorite version of this song is the classic Elvis version, I love this treatment by Brian Setzer and have great respect and admiration for doing this song justice, great job! I believe this song was first recorded as "That's all Right" by Arthor "Big Boy" Crudup in 1946, and if you hear it, it's quite a contrast from the song as recorded by Elvis and others, it's definately worth a listen, a peice of music history.
@FranzBisciu This video is an example solos and rhythm playing why he is more enjoyable to listen to than the "guitar gods" - Clapton, Hendrix, SRV etc. - his playing has so much more rhythm and texture and colour to it to my ear. That's only a personal opinion though. IMHO he plays for the crowd, rather than playing for himself - that's the difference.
I saw Brian Setzer yesterday here in Copenhagen. I have been playing a lot of guitar for many years, so I know how difficult it is to play at his level even though I will never come close to his level.
I absolutely love these guy's, & as a big Elvis fan I'm often cringing when I hear his songs done by anyone else. Brian is a true atrist, & captures the spirit of the music, a fantastic tribute and treatment of this classic!!
My favourite guitar player. I could listen to him for days. Such a shame Bernie Dresel and Mark Winchester are no longer with him. The 3 of them were truly fantastic together.
The King of Cool!! I just bought me a Gretsch "Tim Armstrong" Guitar and now I know why he ist playing these fuckin´great guitars!! Man, you are the greatest!!
@betterthanzep WTF!!!!! why when i enter in this videos to listen REAL MUSIC I have to read in the commentes something about THAT FUCKING ASSHOLE KID of justin frifer, beaver or whatever STOP TALK ABOUT THAT SHIT! THIS IS ROCK N ROLL LADYS AND GENTLEMAN, WE LISTEN THE REAL DEAL
The thing I love about Brian Setzer: When he plays this song you can totally visualize a train; or when he plays Straycat Strut you imagine a cat slinking along in an alley. Gretsch guitars were made for this guy.
Brian Setzer is one of the best guitar players I've ever heard. These three have always been great together. By far the best version of this song I've ever heard. Keep it up Cats.
I let you ALL know..!!! I like Gene & Eddie from the same concert,,right?? It's a good song.. But the way Brian plays the GRETCH in this song is 2nd to NONE!!! This is by FAR the most rockabilly song I have EVER heard!! THIS is AWESOME, THIS IS COOL,, & I challenge ANYBODY to find a better measure for a guitar player than THIS GUY?... THIS SONG!! It's supreme guitar playing at it's best.. RIGHT??? Correct me if I'm wrong..!!! This guy & his band IS AWESOME! Justin Beber???.. FUCK OFFF!!!!!
I was fortunate to have seen the Stray Cats at the now defunct (?) Warner theatre in the early eighties and it remains one of the best shows ive seen before or since. Elvis still did the definitive version of mystery train though.Sacralige to say otherwise.Everybody else is just a copycat,no pun intended. Long live the king.

I bought the album 'Brian Setzer Orchestra Ultimate Collection' on ebay just so I can put it in my music collection FOREVER!! He took an Elvis song & blew it out of the water COMPLETELY!

@FunkCowboy Actually, Brian and the Stray Cats went to England and got famous. There was a vast trans-migration of music in the 60's and 70's even back in the 50's (Eddie Cochran) as an example. At the time in the U.S, Blues, Rock-a-Billy etc. wasn't universally appreciated especially Heavy blues oriented music. About the time the Beatles, Stones etc. were coming to the U.S. our guys were going over there. That's were their fame really started.
@pilotdon50 I saw them at Tuts in Chitown back in the day... they had hits in England but dry here.... Can't Hurry Love version rocked... then Phil the Scumbag Collins ripped off their version... anyway, on the little stage in Tuts I was a few feet away... they were pounding jack daniels and rockin the joint. The long haired blonde guy from Cheep Trick was there - I shoved him outta the way going down the steep stairs to go out to get buzzed....what a night!
