Doesn't the short barrel defeat the purpose of an "06?" I'm sure it makes a loud cartrige even louder. It's good at converting power into noise, but isn't the standard rifle barrel length more ideal in exploiting the 3006' potential? 30-06 pistol... Um... Why? I guess you could hunt with it or have it as a bear gun but it's a single shot. So as a bear gun if you miss... Not knocking you for it. Seems like an interesting gun but somewhat impractical and expensive to shoot.

If I had money I could toss away, I would probably get one too. The only thing I could see it used for is hunting. It has no personal defense value being a single shot. (Personal defense from people and wildlife) So if you are into taking game with a pistol I guess it would be good for that. I prefer a .44mag myself.

out of a 20-26 inch barrel, its a very good round, no doubt, but a 6 inch barrel? why cripple the noble 06? I mean if you chrono'd it, its probably about 2,000 fps with a 150 grainer, an AK can do a bit better, and good for deer? sure, if you could hit it, but why not put it through the deer at 2,800 fps rather than 2,000? LOL

@BrotherJayne You totally missed my point. The reason the left hates assault weapons is because of the way they look. Also why is the 30.06 a weak man killer? The M1 Garand was chambered in 30.06 and was the main gun for our troops in WWII.

The only difference betwen what makes a good man killing gun and an animal killing gun, is the action and to a lesser extent the recoil.

Actually, we moved AWAY from the Garand specifically BECAUSE it was a weak man killer. Low impulse, low recoil weaponry allowing multiple on target shots in a very short space of time is how you kill a man.

@BrotherJayne all depends on the round you're using. soft point for flesh and ap or api for strong punch for solid targets. but m4 is a great people gun. smaller round has that body bounce effect. but a soft lead 30-06 is also great for people and at longer range. so it's toss up. I do have a great video of an api round going through 1/2 steel plate very cool.

That's because a 30-06 cartridge has a lot more power behind it than anything you'll find in a pistol round, regardless of caliber.

No - it is because the gun powder used in rifle ammo is designed to burn at a much slower rate than pistol ammo. It wont be fully ignited before the bullet leaves this short barrel. He is prolly burning a lot of powder in free air.

Putting pistol gunpowder in the cartridge would be interesting - and dangerous and painful.

it does use the same exact round. the .30-06 is a full sized rifle cartridge so it has a heavy bullet plus a full powder load. this pistol fires the .30-06.
