Louie: thanks for agreeing with me in terms of this healthcare debacle. As soon as single payer was taken off the table, at the very start of this process, it became a joke. How can you even arrive at a so-called compromise, when the very thing you are asking for is eliminated from the beginning? This is not a compromise, it's capitulation from the start, and cannot arrive at some CENTER position in this way, because it does not reflect the true center.

It bothered me when Repubs were saying we need a bipartisan agreement. what those corporatists really meant was destroy the public option. the stupid teabaggers fell for it hook, line, and sinker, and I'll never forgive them for it. When visiting the states I had to get into the habit of tipping people, our minimum wage is 3 times that of the USA. Australian's in the service industry don't rely on tips to make a living, so we tip for GOOD service, not to top up their wages.
There is a movement to base minimum wage on housing prices in the area but I am sorry I cant remember the website. Killeen, Tx is the cheapest place in the US to live. Can't live on minimum wage anywhere else.
