Because it didn't matter really. Venomoth has poor defense regardless. Even just using Dragonclaw, DDance is completely unnecessary to OHKO. The DDance is just to poke fun at him because Doa is my friend.
Also, we eventually had a rematch so I preferred using a dragon type move as, if I did Earthquake, it would have show off a move in my moveset that he *potentially* may not have known about whereas Dragon STAB on Salamence is a given. By not doing the expected Equake (next msg)
