the old scene was much better. back in 2006, the scene kids wore coontail extensions, had beautiful side swept hair, loved things like Hello Kitty and Invader Zim, took pictures all day. some of them would edit pictures, but not all of them do that. the ones that do that do it because it's fun.

In Melbourne theres the "flinders street steps" which is actually popular and known for having the scene kids sit on there. A few years back, the style was actually amazing, they usually had the black and white blonde hair. And believe me, it was rather pleasant than "wtf". Now the "scene kids" have multicoloured hair with the ugliest makeup and the "Straight edge" even though the majority all smoke and drink. They arent original anymore, hence why they try to adopt other culture's styles.

The new scene is heavily influenced by the Hipster craze that's going around. You can really tell something is popular when subcultures start to adopt fashion from the other. Now scene kids wear V-Necks, wear plaid shirts, beanies, and large glasses to name a few. Same thing happened to Hip Hop. Just look at the New Boyz and you'll see what I mean. Scene kind of look like skaters now. It's so confusing. :(
