I was at that show in Philly....great impromptu moment. Lucky kid. Getting to play on stage with JM, playing in front of 25,000 screaming fans, and getting gifted a Custom Shop Mayer Strat adds up to what will probably be the greatest day of his life. Sure as hell would be mine, until my son was born, then it falls to #2 on the list. What a trip!

Austin did a great job keeping cool....and surely Mayer is a stand-up guy. He knows what something like that can do for a little guy....Motivation.

I honestly don't know how people can say he is a jerk. That was such an amazing thing to do, especially for such a young person. I'm 18 and in college and I would still be completely blessed beyond belief if John Mayer gave me his guitar after having me jam with him in a concert. But for someone like Austin, he probably has inspired him to become an even better musician and impacted him forever.

Every musician who respects himself or herself would be too knowledgeable about different brands of instruments to be blurting out about "american fender strats".
