  • What type of paint did you use?

  • kool did that radian have ailerons or just rudder?

  • Hi, nice flying, what paint did you use?

  • @Aussie-Jarred Thanks for letting me know, if it works out ok I'll post that video response you asked for ;-) Cheers.

  • Nice - gonna have to give that a go myself. Regarding the battery position for centre of gravity, do you have the 2200 lipo pushed all the way back into the battery pocket on the plane - I run 2250 lipos in my rad and just want to know if you adjusted the cg specifically for hovering. Cheers :-)

  • @Soaringlegend wherever is fine mate, normally pushed all the way back... good luck!

  • Thanks for the posting, brilliant flying! I bought the Radian model to teach my grandson to fly models, but he is more interested in computer games! My 90 year old Dad (ex RAF Lancaster Pilot), loved watching the model soar at Clacton cliffs and also controlling a RC model for the first time! I note you use a 2200mAh battery for prop- hanging, is this correct? Any other mods ? Many thanks

  • @doffincodger hi there, yes 2200mah is a good all round battery - i recommend it if learning to fly because it makes the plane slightly nose heavy... cheers

  • I like the paint, but the hovering looks idiotic to me. It's a sailplane.

  • @BansheeFifteen hence the reason for me posting the video... if it was just a normal parkzone radian flying around i dont think the video would be very interesting... im sure there are many more on the internet to satisfy your needs haha

  • @AussieJarred Now that's funny. Good reply!

  • Too bad the radian pro cant hover

  • Super!!!

  • why did you cut both sides of the nose?

  • @Fra42below that was because i used it to put my phone in the slot!

  • I can hover too with the stock lipo.i got like full expo on it and full elevator and rudder .when i fly and pull p,it flys like a 3d plane and hovers automaticaly, its so easy to fly!!!!!

  • Does it have rudder, aileron, throttle and elevator control? So 4ch?

  • @happycereal no, just throttle elev rudder version

  • @happycereal . . .The Radian Pro is 5 channel.....

  • @seanmcgrth Very true it's 5 channels with two Y-cables, but I'd advise using a 6 channel receiver and radio instead for separate ailerons so you can at least use the butterfly / crow function for landings. I don't ever want to fly without it anymore as it makes landings a short and effective piece of cake. :-) Just make sure you apply enough down to prevent it from stalling.

  • I love this video

  • That is amazingly cool. I never knew it could hover like that, and it's so graceful in flight.

  • i got a radian too and learning RC flight with it. after some months, and after seeing other trainer models fly, I cannot say the radian is the best choice for a beginner. it takes skills to get it up in the air and to control it once in the wind. but its challenging and maybe after i finally manage to tame it, I ll buy an acrobatic plane and fly it easily. anyway, great job with the hover and slow flight. I wanna learn that too!

  • Great stuff mate. I was undecided before I saw this video.

  • You have obviously flown RC before! Nice Video, Very Informative. Thanks!

  • very nice! next time ill fly, ill do a hover for u

  • Thanks.. I was tossing up between this and an Art-Tech Diamond 2500... Your video convinced me to get the Radian...

    Cheers mate..

  • hi there, what material did you use to color your wings? Paint, tape? thanks!

  • my dog would jump up and it the plane whole >=D

  • wow - didn't think you could prop hang a glider?! nice flying!!!

  • floater plane

  • AussieJared, is this a good beginner airplane?

  • @SaoMir1 the best you can buy ;)

  • @AussieJarred

i've had my eye on this rc for quite some time but many people tell me its not easy to control

  • @SaoMir1 it is VERY easy to controll...

  • Jarred,

On your first two launches did you use power at all to get it back?

  • @SuperShamwari yeh mate, i dont think any plane will ever have that good glide ratio lol!

  • @AussieJarred Cheers mate, I'd guessed so much but I couldn't hear anything. Lovely little flying area you have there and a great dog!

  • wow and thats all stock??? dang ill have to get me one of those.

  • thats fantastic love the colour scheme.was thinking of the dg1000 with pop up motor but the rad is for me

  • You make it seem so easy, the hover........but on a 3ch only plane that's awesome!

    Love the dog too btw.......

  • @UilKerk thanks!

  • Very nice. What type of paint did you use and are the two stripes on the one side so you can know which way it is going when up high?

  • 1) acrylic

    2) yes correct...

    :D

  • I did this mid flight the other day, i don't know if that counts, i will try to get a video of it soon.

  • haha, please do!

  • is there a gyro in your plane?

  • nope, just pure skill :D haha jokes, but no gyro.... thanks for watching!

  • Very nice flying man, big kudos!

  • thanks a bunch dude...!

  • amazing I am going to get one

  • please do, they are really worth every cent!

  • ok thanks you doing any more vids ???

  • not with this plane, but i am sure i will have more dynamic soaring vids in the near future...

  • what paint did you use or is it a vinal???

  • previous comments will suffice... acrylic

  • hay nice vid what did you use to paint your radin with many thank.....

  • acrylic auto paint i think...

  • Nice flying. Hovering, catching, and DLG launching. You are a great flyer. What did you use for your tip colors and striping on the lower wing surface?

  • general acrylic auto paint...

  • nice one...will have to give that a go with my radian...like you say its a great glider...love it

  • yeah mate, if you can do it, video response it! haha! be good to have some competition :P

  • ill give it a go...mind you..you got a head start being upside down in Australia...lol...nice one

  • you better!

  • totaly mad seeing a 3ch glider hover like that got to get myself 1 now lol

  • totaly mad seeing a 3ch glider hover like my 4ch typhoon got get myself 1 now lol

  • DO IT, best plane in the world, just yesterday i managed a 20 second motor climb and a 1 hour 46min flight with it :D

  • Thanks for reply. I think I will go with the rad to ease my way back into rc (Used to fly a WOT4 nitro so thought about flying electric for a bit more sedate flying. Question. I wana buy a rad pnp and my old radio tx and rx are a sanwa conquest, My question is this. The reciver on this uses a 4 pack of AA batteries, will I have to use them seprate from the motor power supply or can I use the main engine lipo to supply the reciver and if so wouildnt it be to much juice for it to handle?

  • ok what you have to know first, is you need a three or more channel receiver/tranny, which i assume it is.

the plane's controller for the motor will have a plug on it exactly the same as the 4aa battery does, and so instead of the batteries, the motor controler prettymuch has a built in 4aa battery system, so when you plug in the lipo to the motor controller, it powers up the receiver too... hope this helps!

  • Ahh man thanks a bundle. Was worried I would need to install 2 bat packs & no room left + all that extra weight or worse fry my reciver. Havent been back into RC for quite some years and newbie to electric although I wont miss oil covered tempremental nitros although do miss tearing up sky with WOT4 but not the 3ft trench when it ploughs the dirt. Thanks again for help & cant wait to get my rad now.

  • did you do any mods to make it hover?

  • as in the description, stock everything except battery, but the stock battery is actually better to hover on...

  • I'm impressed... Never seen a radian hover... Nice

  • <3 thanks man!

  • oops I should read posts. You answered battery question.

  • You just convinced mewhich plane to buy. looks like perfect flight conditions of no wind. was thinking of geting Typhoon 3d but radieon does the same + soaring. Will it thermal & what batter you using?. Very nice Video

  • hey yes these planes are great for thermal but if you really want to learn proper hovering and aerobatics, the typhoon 3D is the way to go, its up to you tho!

  • it looks extremely light. Any guess on the weight? looks really fun too. Im building something like it, but much smaller. Balsa construction also means that I can't play catch (a little to weak).

  • yeah mate, it is fairly light... if you want more info on the plane, just google parkzone radian and it will come up, my guess is round 700 grams... i havent weighed it but yeah...

  • thx for the quick response. I just got an engine for the plane i'm working on, I really hope the power/weight ratio is near that of this think. ~700 grams is very impressive for a 2.2m sail plane, then again, there is alot you can do with foam and carbon.

  • yeah mate, its crazy how light you can get foam these days, foam is future for sure!

  • hey nice flying m8,im planning on getting this in the Spring!!!,you said you useing a differnt Battery,? with the stock motor setup?

  • how many MaH is in that battery?

  • hey mate, nice to year your getting one! the battery is a turnigy 2.2A 30C or also known as a 2200mah!

  • Hey Jarred, that is awesome. the hover took me by surprise...I've been flying my Radian for about a year now and concentrating on finesse but not that level...you just challenged me to new heights.

  • haha yew good work, if you can do it, video response!

  • What a hoot! Nice flying! I just maidened my new Radian today here in Kansas. I have GOT to try that hovering, but higher up!

  • haha, now thats what i like to hear! you will love the radian!

  • Nice! Never seen a Radian hover like that... very cool.

  • hey, thanks!

  • cool video... and the plane looks rad! what did you use to paint/color the wings and rudder?

  • hey sorry, for some reason youtube hasnt been telling me about comment notifications... it is just your stock standard spray paint... nothing special about it really...

  • Amazing flying and what a view!

  • thanks.... for some reason youtube hasnt been telling me about comment notifications... i am very lucky where i live, and will soon be making a hydroplane... to persue a new dimetion in rc!

  • Very Nice!!!

  • thanks dude!

  • How did you paint it, thats an AWESOME trim scheme!!!

Prob makes it a bit easier to see at high alt now aswell

  • Aussiejarred!!! Hey, I flew in So Cal just above SadDiego on the hills just off the shoreline. That was exciting! My biggest concern was the unpredicable winds shift that was a real threat to keeping my glider from becoming a pile of sticks! The area was quite nice and will try it again in LA next time I am down there. Will be doing more slope stuff over in the Yakama area wne the winds die down this winter, if tat happens, I will be there.

    Good gliding!

    Chuck

  • hey, sorry but i accidentally deleted your comment, and hey sorry, for some reason youtube hasnt been telling me about comment notifications... thanks for the report! im glad that you can fly like it too! this plane is still going strong and having much fun!

  • fine job

  • thx dude!

  • Aussie Jarred! That is a neat vidio! Congratulations on doing the hover. I havenever tried to do that, but will think about doing that one of these days. Flew in So Cal about a month ago on the beach with my Radian. That was a blast.

    Chuck

  • haha, yeah, any sloping? i love sloping this plane, cause you only need like 2 knots and your sweet!

  • Best lookin radian i've seen, good piloting too.

Theres too much glue on mine to hover LOL.

  • thanks guys

  • Im Speechless,,,,,this is indeed one of the best i've seen on the Radian..Good Job.........

  • haha thanks man!
