Just putting it out there that Shin has used tiny drums in a few other PV's that I've seen (Another morning, and Tokyo Bambi) ... Not sure about any others though lol...
This doesn't really sound like Nirvana, it just sounds like 90's grunge, which Nirvana kind of did, but they really had their own style, which was a little more heavy.
If this sounds like any Nirvana song, it sounds like Polly. The riff, and the music video are references to Nirvana, I think. Look at the angle of the camera at 1:14, and the way he's swimming. I bet thats a poke at a certain album cover.
i know, cause i'm always right. just kidding thanks for agreeing with me :) i have a lot of free time so i did a little research before posting that comment.
Dammit, ever get a song stuck in you head years after you first heard it and have completely forgotten about it and think it's an original song you came up with ... could've been worse I suppose , only worked out the keyboard and guitar part until I remembered what it was, but still ... bad enough
@BRYAN323 I never said they were copying, I'm just saying this song sounds a lot like Nirvana. I guess you could say that this sounds like the Pixies, but I hear more of a Nirvana-like sound in this.
I don't even know what they're saying, but the last line just kills me. Something about the way it sounds is just so...sad. And i9incher's right - you can totally hear the Nirvana in this song.
dont get me wrong, I love the band and this song is completly original, and they have alot of grunge influence(as shown in the video) that why look alot like nirvana
I agree. The only thing they might not be able to reproduce is Kurt Kobain's voice (it is one of a kind), but Sawao's voice is unique enough to put a whole new spin on a Nirvana cover.
If you're interested, the pillows covered "Breed" in San Fransisco. You can look it up on Youtube (low quality bit still good).
Have you heard of THE PREDATORS? It's a band that Sawao started with a couple other Japanese musicians that is basically trying to sound like Nirvana, and they cover Nirvana songs live. I have a video of them performing Breed and also Molly's Lips, which is a song that Nirvana covered (originally by The Vaselines), along with their originals. I think Sawao decided to play Breed with the pillows on a whim because they were in the US. They're not bad, but I think the pillows are way better. =)
