My parents bought one in 09 , I was amazed at the level of quality and the standard equipment on the GL. No problems with the car and they get 35 to 40 mpg. I would recommend this car but of course you should check the competition too.

I loved my elantra (2001) until 3 days ago my transmission crapped out. I baby my car (no agressive driving, speeding, braking) and yet with 96k I have a dead tranny and a $2,500 bill to fix it, for daily driving. I hope that this is a one time thing, I keep my cars until about 200k so lets hope it makes it. Other then the tranny issue it has been a great car and would recommend to anyone.

I got an elantra this past Febuary for my birthday. It is one the best bargins out there. There is no compact car out there that matchs the inteior quality. I have found that there is no problem with this car. Honestly feels good to own one. This is the first time I brought a Hyundai, and man I was surprised. :) Hyundai is the new up coming car brand :) Ppl that dont see hyundai coming up are clearly blind...

Is the driver's seat area of an Elantra significantly more roomy than the Civic and Corolla as well? I keep hearing about passenger seat space but not much about front seats.

I have a Hyundai Elantra 2008,and this car was classified as Mid-Size sedan instead of compact since it has more interior room than Civic and Corolla i tested myself before i bought the Elantra,also it came with a lots of standard equipment for less ,excellent warranty,reliable,oh i forgot about quality,quality is excellent,finish,very soft ride,i am happy with my Hyundai and looking forward in the future to buy another one.

I found mine on the lot in black with the sunroof. I just added leather and a spoiler. Looks great and i have not had any problems what so ever. Getting about 26 in the city and i drive pretty quick. Great car for the money.

I purchased 08 and drove 25k already.

The best mpg I've got was 35 for an average and the worst was 31.

Handle is nicer and better than I expected. The cabin is roomy and quite.

The sound system is clear and enough for powerful sound.

Nice and well degined interior and love 4 cup holders in front and 2 for back.

So far I can't find any issues from this car.

Feels smooth and reliable.

I never know much about Elantra before but well done on my own decision to purchased it.

LOL name one thing that is bad? The elantra GTbeats a Civic Si stock. With a turbo upgrade you decrese to a 8.5 sec car. any Si is gunna be a mid 9 sec. your such a retard. name what you don't like next time!!

He calls the nicer of the two the GLS and the other a GL. I dunno, maybe this is Canadian or something. I have the GLS and it has the hubcaps and fabric seats. The SE has the leather and nice wheels.

I have the GT. and it is the nicest in its class. Leather interior, infinity sound system, 5 speed stick, i mean, i beat Civic Si's for breakfast man.

I think it's a difference between the '07 and '08 model. I believe the '07 came as base GL, midlevel GLS, and top-line Limited. The '08 comes as base GLS and top-line SE. I would love to have an SE with leather!
