  • believe me it worth seeing an a eye-opening in sight to what we look like Thank you

  • im going to see this on monday, cant wait!

  • it's ok

  • Today we learned about where they get these bodies. thats right, they r real bodies!

  • I just saw this exhibition today in San Juan PR.

Pretty amazing. Just expected more corpses.

  • 2:24 smokers lungs Hahahhaa

  • Comment removed

  • amazing

  • I have seen this three times, twice in vancouver and once in Boston. Pretty cool.

  • Gunther von Hagens is a UNITOLOGIST !!!11ONEONE1!!1

  • I saw this exhibit at Toronto science centre 2 years ago. Very interesting and saw someone faint lol

  • Now i don't know whether i want to decay in a pinewood coffin underneath dirt or get preserved .

  • I always wanted to see what all the bones and tendons in the hand looked like...

  • is it true that the Bodies are Chinese Dissidents? Were they killed and preserved to be displayed by the Chinese government?

  • I just saw this today in Chicago it's awesome and so darn amazing!!!!!

  • @FionaGlitter mutilation is another story.

  • if your calling this disgusting, your calling yourself disgusting

  • Goddammit whos soo frikken sick thats horrible srsly its not fun to kill someone and then show it to everyone

  • @XDKiller1234 the bodies are donated.

  • @XDKiller1234

    little kid

  • @XDKiller1234 no body is killed, these people signed to be part of the show. I almost sign for it. they don't kill you, the only wait until you die and then they treat your body with liquid plastic and make you pose.

  • @Apolo1428 I watched a special on 20/20 that says this exhibit is composed of executed Chinese civilians. The people who run the operation mean well, but their source of bodies is corrupt.

  • @SolidSnake3131

it was reported in china, they have their own version and that's where they got their bodies, not this one

  • @XDKiller1234 says the person with killer as their username lol.

  • I went and seen this exhibition a few years ago as a school trip and found it fascinating and an honour to view the effort and scientific value that went into creating such a masterpiece :)

  • i saw a penis cut in half in there. D:>

  • hmm good way to kill ppl and dont get caught

  • god this makes me want to puke real bodies just makes it creepy as fuck

  • @96airsofter god can't save you muahahaha!

  • Gunthervon Hagens

    B O D Y W O R L D S

The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies

    Ask yourself

Whose bodies are these? Who did they to belong to?

In 2006, there were claims of harvesting of organs from live practitioners of the banned Falun Gong spiritual movement China.

Not such a fascinating exhibition when you know the facts.

The young boy at 2.23 attending the exhibition looks terrified to me.

  • @slocar1 obviously..hes like 5

  • @Sadisticaffection

He may be only 5 years of age but he's more intelligent than some adults like those ones he knows called Mum and Dad, immagine taking a child of 5 years of age to view such an exhibition. He may be only 5years of age but " He Knows" He's not visiting Disney Land, he knows this stuff is for real, wheras some adults are having great difficulty with the same concept, e.g. Dead Bodies, not plastic, not latex not man made.

  • @slocar1 ur point?

  • @Sadisticaffection ur point?

  • @Sadisticaffection

I'm glad we are in agreement, there's more than just the two of us feel this way you know, judging by the remarks and feedback.

    Tks

  • @slocar1 ok..

  • No matter how you choose to look at it its a cemetary.

  • We have like this one here in the Philippines and titled it Myth of the Human Body, i can't explain exactly why but they were explaining every human body parts with Greek Gods and Demi-Gods' characteristics.. It's located in Taguig City near Heritage Memorial Park and they don't allow taking pictures, I think to respect the dead body of the donors.. It's not gross, it was educational.. I'm just not comfortable when we saw the real fetuses from 1mon to the mother who died with her unborn baby.

  • I'd get queezy if I went to this.

  • ive heard that those bodys are real and dead soo they took all the blood out and placed in glass countainers. very sad. but i am going there on satXD

  • @McBrickfilms ofcouse there are dead and real, what possibly other they can be?live?

  • Pick a body, (1:11) and think to yourself, "This guy is dead." The face staring at that book is no longer active, but once was. That's not plastic, depending on the structure, the brain may have processed the thoughts of a lifetime. I find this to be a little unethical, but that's just me. Save this for the doctors...

  • @SolidSnake3131 What's your point?

  • **MEAT**!!

  • ED GEIN IN PARADISE!

  • is this exhibition still in the US? if so do you guys know where i can find the tour dates?

  • @PrEtTy10ALLY

yesterday I watched a news clip on it, I believe they may be in Germany right now.

  • @jameslong1976 they are at science world at vancouver

  • @PrEtTy10ALLY I've been trying to look for some myself .

  • Now this is anatomy at its finest and artistic too.

  • lalalalallalalalww

  • why we don't have that museum here??

  • This is genius!!! And It's OUR body, it's for science!!!! To know and study better the mechanisms of the body!!!! If we couldn't know about the human body through a corpse then how can we help, operate the living??? STOP thinking in a box and open your mind to science, to have a better capacity to HELP others!!!! JUST GREAT!!!! This is awesome for med students or anybody!!!!!

  • @astroangelspy i agree with you!

  • If that guy would be playin in a anime his name would be Orichimaru !!

  • I think it so fansitanting, and intresting, but what bothers me its real people, its creepy yet so intresting, I dont know weather to be Amazed or Disturbed! but its cool, intrestign and amazing.

  • lol real? cool >:D

  • *faint*

  • where is this at?

  • there not plastic. there real human bodys

  • @ItsTimothy they're real but they gone threw plastination, which is why they look plastic.

  • As I said before there's nothing wrong in understanding anatomy and it would be great if those people who demonstrated so much interest in seeing just a corpse would really study the mechanisms behind it.

  • @citallevi They probably do .

  • Can anyone help explain certain parts in layman terms for me? So the red parts are blood vessels, the orangish red is the muscles and the light yellow/white parts are fat?

  • There's nothing wrong in understanding how human body is and how it works obviously.

But the problem here, is another...

Do we really need to use real corpses? Science already knows the body very well in its exterior aspects, and the plastic models we use today can be really well done.

I think this need to see a corpse which once was a living person is kind of morbid and I don't fully understand it.

...let apart the allegations of illegal corpses trafficking of Von Hagens...

  • @citallevi I agree that we do know much about the human body and that most of this is not science. However, what is wrong with finding pure enjoyment in the natural curiosity of what makes a man?

  • @citallevi You know how long and how much work and money it would cost to try to completely replicate the internal and external mechanism and structure of a organism let alone a human one? It's much easier to plastinate a donor.

  • These aren't plastic corpses, they are real human bodies that have been coated with material to keep them from rotting.

  • I am a proud body donor! my boby will be in Körperspendebüro when i die!

  • most of the body come from German citizens. No executed Chinese.

  • die meisten Köper, stammen von deutschen citizens. Keine hingerichteten Chinesischen.

  • This is a total disrespect of the human body. They are being used for entertainment in this display and for no other reason.

  • @SCHRUBBE1966 this isn't disrespect this is educational... disrespecting is placing the human bodies in an unformed manner this is simply showing how the human body functions and how we do everyday life things it is displaying how you or as US as humans use our mussels and everything inside us to move and create its just showing more with out the human skin.

  • @SCHRUBBE1966 Idiot, are u religios? Because that have to be the one of the reason to react like that, don't be ignorant! that is not disrespect, that is people who donate there bodys, and if fucking educational!

  • @SCHRUBBE1966

its not only entertaining. its educational. I think more people learned things with these disrespectful displays as you call them than people that were only amazed.

And this is not disrecpectful. I think its graceful. To have an illuminating purpose after you die... and not just rot and get eaten away by bugs and forgotten by time in a box under the dirt.

  • @SCHRUBBE1966

If it's disrespectful to want to continue being of use to society after your death, then color me disrespectful!

I went to this exhibit just today, and I thought it was incredible. I'm genuinely considering donating my body to them when I die.

  • so their like hey look! we got like alot of dead people bodies

random guy: OH! GOOD we can make and open an exhibition!!!

and then *bodies* was born T-T

  • how is it that everything turns into an argument on youtube?

  • @ekimusman2 Because people have thier own feelings about the life around them...It's important to realize and embrace these differences.

  • This is soooo sick, it's a serial killer's art. Me and my friend are very attuned to spiritual energy and we were absolutely disgusted by this event. This is a serial killer's artwork. The guy who made this exhibit is now like selling human body parts for display. This is the same way the antichrist is going to deceive people.

  • @TrunkMonkey3000 Darling darling...You know nothing about serial killers. And that is OK. This "event" is about learning about the human body; which is important for us that are alive. These people have donated themselves to science. Their will's, their last hopes are manifested in these figures. They are NOT victims; they are martyrs of science. Please try to understand the difference.

  • @sushikitty71 "Anatomist Gunther Von Hagen sells off body parts one slice at a time- mail order business based in Germany will supply human or animal body parts" from The UK paper Guardian. Look, this is sick and I got a terrible feeling from it. The maker, Gunther Von Hagen, is a fucking psychopath with a serial killer mentality. Just because he found a place in society does NOT mean that what he`s doing is OK. Did the animals donate their bodies to science?

  • @TrunkMonkey3000 No, the animals did not donate themselves to science. So you'd rather they die in a mass grave? Animals, unfortunately, do not have any rights when it comes to their deaths. I've paid over a $1000 for personal creamations for my beloved pets. These people have personally written out their will's to be donated to science. Think about the Body Farm in Tennessee. Many murderers have been brought to justice because of the donated bodies to science. Do you also not agree with that?

  • @sushikitty71 Necrophilia - a love of death.

  • @TrunkMonkey3000 No. Necrophilia is an erotic attraction towards corpses. That is completely different. If you walk into the Bodies exhibit and find yourself aroused, then that may be an issue you need to aquire counseling on. The bodies exhibit is based on donations; and the people whom are interested in these things are very interested in seeing how our bodies function.

  • @sushikitty71 Nope, the first definition in the dictionary reads Necrophilia: obsessive fascination with death and corpses. (Don`t let the media give you a popular, sensational definition). And this is EXACTLY what`s going on here, and exactly what the creator Gunther Hagen suffers from. That sick man is selling body parts to anyone with some money. That`s okay though, right? I`m sure there for 'educational' purposes only.

  • @TrunkMonkey3000 you talk like you know it all and THAT'S EXACTLY what's going on.

  • @TrunkMonkey3000 How do you know what mentalitiy he has?

  • @TrunkMonkey3000 Spiritual energy? Anti-christ? You and your friends seem more cracked than serial killers ...you religious delusional nutbag.

  • The greatest show humans have created since the Roman Coliseum, facinating & yet maccob at the same time...

  • @IronicallyVague

Actually I take that back...Although very interesting the exibit seemed somewhat limeted in what they could have displayed..or far too short & it felt like you were rushed towards the "Great Egress"

As for the debate on them using Chinese cadavers I can't say for certain but as a suggestion I'd say using a black male in this exibit would have left the insecure white audience feeling even more ripped off then the high ticket prices did.

  • jeffrey dahmer did it now they can ???

  • @ajparenteau So NOT the same at all!! Dahmer proceeded to EAT what he dissected and took. Von Hagens is a doctor, an anatomist, and wishes to show us what our bodies look like.

  • @ajparenteau So NOT the same at all!! Dahmer proceeded to EAT what he dissected and took. Von Hagens is a doctor, an anatomist, and wishes to show us what our bodies look like.

  • @ajparenteau Dahmer "melted" or "disintegrated" his victims in acid; you may be thinking of Ed Gein, who used his victims as bowls, lampshades, etc. This has absolutely nothing to do with such actions. I know it may seem uncomfortable, but these people, contrary to popular belief, donated themselves to science, which is exactly what they are being used for. It is important for us (living) to see how our bodies work, no matter what reaction you may be having.

  • Shame this will never come to Australia

  • for all those uneducated people who think this is about sex you all need a reality check. This is for the purpose of teaching us about the human body and what certain things can effect our body. If you don't like then don't watch it. Ain't no body forcing any of you to watch it.

  • @bbystar21 spare a thought for the donatees, you are quite right no one is forcing us to watch it, the body parts and bodies that you and others have found to be so, interesting are those of dead human beings, people who were forced, murdered, robbed of their lives and for what? To be disected reduced to entertainment value, not for educational purposes but solely to generate income, profits, satiating the need for financial gain.

  • @slocar1 The fuck are you saying ? There's a donor program for this, people simply firm a document in which they give their body after death to the exhibit. Inform yourself before yelling bullshit.

  • Error Correction

    These are NOT PLASTIC CORPSES

The title should read as follows

The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies

  • @bbystar21 actually im sitting in TOK class being very succesfully forced to watch this im afraid. But i like your point.

  • @bbystar21 hmmmm "aint nobody forcing you to watch it " so thats what you do when there's something you disagree with you simply "dont watch it" ,you close your eyes and ignore it. its called debating its called opinions make use of them. I can't honestly think of anything worst and more macabre than this exposition... Exposing dissected bodies of humans with even infants .... so yeah it's interesting but most people who go to these things are simply thrillseekers

  • @bbystar21 remember that whenever you want to something bad you need an alibi. sure its in the name of science... it does have scientific aspects but you could cut anyone up in pieces and call it science.

  • @bbystar21 Teaching us about human nature not the human body, learn more research the facts about this exhibition.

    Good Luck

  • its just a freak show and mutilation

  • 'A great opportunity to see things you don't usually see from the outside.' No kidding. If you're seeing that stuff from the outside, something is seriously wrong.

  • @bookworm135 They want to know how your insides look like...

  • they are REAL bodies donated to science just like the baby room

  • those arent plastic fools. theyre real corpses.

  • Totally disgusting and disrespectful to the deceased people on display. Some faces are almost recognizable. Can you imagine how a family would feel if they recognized their deceased family member on display like that in a glass case. How horrible! An dead infant baby still in the womb cannot speak for itself. This type of thing should be kept behind closed doors in a lab for scientific purposes only and not for display. This is immoral and totally wrong.

  • @pmcpk The only thing disrespectful is your calling the exhibition "totally disgusting". Perhaps you would care to educate yorself and read up on the Human Tissue Act which, by law, the exhibiton would have to comply with the rules of. If members of the general public do not wish to see this, no one is going to force them. Although, perhaps if people were less closed-minded they would understand how complex the human body really is and learn to take better care of their own.

  • I totally agree with shebitchmclean. As an interested member of the laity I have been to long denied access to the very mechanism by which we are all rendered human. Why should dissection be only the preserve of doctor's and anatomists? There is a beauty and art to the human form and I totally support what Dr. Von Hagens is doing.

  • So many people here have no idea what they're talking about.

@Lulubel1387 Body Works has it's own donor program. Every person in this exhibit went through extensive paperwork stating that they wanted to become an exhibition piece. There were no surprises.

@benshehzad How is this not educational? Why should only professionals and medical students get to see the inside of a human body? It's an eye-opening experience which is extremely educational.

  • @SheBitchMacLean So what paperwork did the horse go through? Just kidding.

  • @DUCKONER1 haha! Probably the same paperwork it would have gone through when it agreed to be euthanized :P

  • @SheBitchMacLean

Hmmm I see what you mean.

yeah OK if you guys think it is education.

    sory if I offended you.

  • And this is where we have come to...

we dont appreciate the difference between education and a media hype.

we are so fucked up and "media driven".

I find it disgusting that people can think of this "show" as educative.

  • this is in no way any education but an individual's claim to fame in name of "education".

We owe to those deceased, that we respect their remains and use it in "real education" with respect instead of fancy shows.

Dissection is education when it is done by students of anatomy in a dissection hall for purpose of understanding human anatomy.

  • I just saw this at the Denver Natural History museum. Overall very educational and entertaining. You really get to see how amazing the design of the human body is. I feel a deep respect for the creator of this amazing machine we call our body :) This was or 2nd time seeing the exhibit and I would recommend it to anyone (except maybe young kids who wouldn't understand or appreciate it anyway). Yes there are genitals on some of the full body exhibits but any mature person will get past this.

  • its true that people give up there bodies for science.that's what corpses are.not all of them are Chinese but they are real people who gave up their body for science. it's true!

  • @munchichi888

just because there is a document that had a signature doesn't mean that that actual person signed it......

  • anormal

  • It says plastic corpses, but the description says real human corpses. Any ways, I think it's ok to be displayed, and I'm sure the people were told, that they were going to be displayed. If not, then I guess that's not my problem :)

  • poor people they never imagined they were gonna be exposed to the world afther their deaths as an example of what we are made of poor of them

  • @Lulubel1387 Body Works has it's own donor program. Every person in this exhibit went through extensive paperwork stating that they wanted to become an exhibition piece. There were no surprises.

  • @replay8 the location of the genitals would also explain why it is not taboo to show male genitals while it is for female genitals. Consider the anterior positioning of the male genitals compared to the posterior location of the female genitals. Showing the male genitals is easy, for it requires simply a frontal look, but for the female genitals, it would require a different positioning. Culture is biased across the world, for reasons that no one really knows of.

  • this is just fucked up

  • 2:50 this woman is so beautiful =]

  • Saw it today at toronto sci centre for gr. 11 bio class! Very interesting, and there were like 9 and 10 year olds watching the exhibition to which is kinda weird.

  • I think this exhibition is interesting, but really should be adults only. The genitals are pretty graphic, and often seem to be the focus of the pose for the male bodies. Most younger kids may not be able to process a dissected body.

  • @replay8 I disagree. I think this is very educational. And why the victorian puritan stance on showing genitals? Who cares?! We all have them.

This is about anatomy. Not about sex. If you think about sex while looking at this, you are one sick bastard.

  • Comment removed

  • The exhibit website notes the majority of bodies are men because they did not want to appear voyeuristic! Because it IS, but it's OK to see naked men but not women. Our culture IS prudish on nudity, but we then discount that for males. OK to show the male genitals in public on a statue, but have you ever seen a female statue that details vulva/labia? If the culture treated the gender nudity the same, no prob. But we don't. A 12 y/o girl sees a naked guy on the street-he's arrested it's a trauma.

  • So the answer is "our culture cares". And we send mixed messages. Ok for kids to see this at age what? 8, 10, 12, 14? So then it's OK for them to see softcore porn pictures at that age? Or porn movies? After all, everyone has sex. The majority of bodies in the exhibit are male, and that's because the conditioning is that it's OK for females of any age to see a naked guy. Gender bias. OK for the 12 year old girl to babysit the 5 year old boy and give him a bath. But not vice versa.

  • Most would be uncomfortable having a 12 y/o boy babysit a 5 year old girl and watch her in the bath. Our culture has a bias that it's OK for any female to see a naked man, as long as the female is in control of the viewing, not the man. No big deal to see, unless he flashes her. But female bodily privacy is protected. So if the culture first was open about nudity, and second treated the genders the same from a nudity perspective, then fine. But that's NOT the case.

  • @coolvibe1975 Lastly, kids at various ages have varying emotional and cognitive functioning levels. They have odd notions concerning bodily image and integrity, views of death, fear of separation and dismemberment. For a lot of kids, especially the younger ones, a display like this can be shocking and cause irrational fears that adults just don't get.

  • @coolvibe1975 So, to finish a long answer, first, I'm not a sick bastard, thanks. Second, culture dictates decency and propriety, and our culture doesn't believe public nudity is OK, for right or wrong, that's how it is. The display should be adults only. Think of it like an "R" rated movie. With graphic dismembered bodies and lots of close ups of genitals, but no sex. You wouldn't take your 10 year old to see that.

  • @coolvibe1975 I loved your comment. Very well said. :-)

  • Hmm, I think you can actually go see it...

  • some of them have been kill not die from natural

  • Its really bizzare that as your looking at the faces of the bodies you can kinda tell what they looked like and what ethnicity they probably were.

  • ummmmmm, not at this exhibition. Body worlds has a body donor program. The CA Sci Center published a Summary of Ethical review in which all bodies were matched to death certificates and consent forms

  • @datzfast

    That sounds like utter bullshit.

  • Comment removed

  • i'm going to the science center the jan 21 2010 its gonna be awsome

  • Like the film, house of wax. Interesting but awful.

  • they arent plastic

  • maja kasza kali macha judu taja

  • MY ASS!!

  • and it is real. people donate their bodies to science and agree that once they die. it goes to this. then they take out most of the material that would decompose the body and add in other stuff to make it plastic. Just look up the bodyworlds on google and they explain everything :P plus theres alot more photos

  • I'm made of plastic too!!!

  • I would love to have the chanve to see that some day. But I would personally prefer not to touch that... -_-'

  • you cant touch it accept for a few organs- i agree though too! i could have seen them for free a few days ago but i didnt- i didnt want to be the only one with 2 of my teachers when the rest when shopping or hung out. It was a good oportunity passed up

  • actually there not fake they are real human bodies who are plasinated.. its a special flued in wich they lie for about 12 months the only thing thats not real are the eyes they are made of plastic

  • it's real. i just went to the exibition today at singapore's science centre.

    it was AMAZING.

  • I think those youngsters should realize the corpse are from slaughtered Falun Gung practitoners people who have been fighting for frredom from grusome Red China.

  • god - the people commenting were some low iq idiots

  • lol real bodies i was half expecting them to jump out of the boxes

  • i vomited when i first went in and saw it , and didn't went in anymore

  • @azmidasimin

    Wow, you're a huge pussy.

  • they arnt plasctic

  • I was going to go see this when it came to Mexico but there weren't any more tickets left, but I've been told it was amazing.

I can't wait for it to come again.

  • I respect Gunther van Hagen. his methods may be grizzly, but its very intresting. i would love to see some of these models

    abd im 11 years old!
