  • this was awesome lol it's nice to hear actual music being played and something that you can ENJOY listening to and ACTUALLY dance to...not trying to down play anyone or their skill set but juggling beats at 150 bpms or scratching battle records gets dull after a while. How many of you have ever found yourself scrolling through your ipods or music library thinking "gosh i want to hear the winning set to dmc 2009 right now" besides this is what the dmc USED to be about blending and mixing

  • His efforts paid off!! Master of the mix 2011!!!

  • Serious SSK UAT shit right here... Tulsa and OKC, Star7 EBM and all that

  • This kids off da hook, looks like hard work son !!

  • 4:25 "they cant find a job" lol he dissed them in his own way

  • Comment removed

  • Anybody hatin' can kiss my ass...P RIPPED IT!!!!!

  • Noone better be talkin any shit...that's my boy!! Now he is on MASTER OF THE MIX, so her must be doing something right!!

  • A true hip-hop head right here!!!All you microwave, fake ass, wanna be Dj's need to crawl back into your microwaves, press start and bake on the true skillz!!Check him out on master of the mix season 2 and get yourself's schooled in how true hip-hop should be represented!!

  • If you didn't know, DJ P is dope as hell and he's a true TRUE BBOY. But with all of the brainwashing that goes on regarding music and taste it doesn't surprise me what some youngsters say.

  • Think a lot of people are missing the point. DJ Craze and other legends were in the crowd going totally bananas!

  • 16 people don't need to come around here no mo'......

  • so fucking dope the whole way through

  • I've said it before, and I will say it again until my fingers can no longer type. Get A Job is the hardest diss in the history of hip hop.

  • Dude??? 1999? DJ P ur a sick man. F'n disgusting bro. Ty for demonstrating how to mix vinyl records. Ty. This should be a page in the "How To DJ" hand book.

Keep it Rockin P!!! Love the Sesame Street record.

  • Saw this routine live in 99 and it still gets my hyped like the rest of the crowd that night.... CLASSIC!

  • You are smokin' HOT!

  • Fuck @ tasteslikepandameat dj p is fuckin ill don't see any of your shit in the record stores.

  • @Scantron1978 well at least both of you agree that this sounds like wobbly shit

  • I agree with .. djmertz ... GET A JOB ... is still the hardest diss in hip-hop.

  • He's good, but he's crazy faces ruin it a bit. Guy needs to chill out a bit

  • @plonkerfest really, do u spin? have you ever? it's not like radio...it's ALL ABOUT ENTERTAINMENT! a dj who doesn't get into his session, doesn't have a blast, isn't worth paying.

  • so that's what a train wreck sounds like. I never knew tom petty or bruce hornsby could sound so wo-wo-wobbly while tries to match the beat. Is the head bobbing or lip syncing supposed to distract the crowd?

  • Fucking str8 up DOPE!

  • baranbaranbara

  • de wuevosssssssss

  • this is soooo retarded....want a real dj....check westbam,,,frankie bones,,,,carl cox,,,afrika bambatta,,,adam x...

  • Z-trip gets all the credit for the Mash up/blend movement but it was just as much the result of Danny... Go download "Uneasy Listening" (done with Z-trip) and 'Hell on Wheels" vol. 1 and take notes.

  • SICK BRO i'm tring to find some more sick mixs like this where u use all old school music

  • THIS GUYS OUT OF CONTROL!

    WHOA BABYYYYYYYYYY!!

  • I bet i know someone who was there,,, JOEL B

  • Holy Shit he is bad fucking ass and this was 1999!?

  • @skinnee...I guess you didnt get the point of the battle???...Its fuckin mind game!!!

  • Fucking nice 1!

  • His set reminds me of the movie 8 MIle..When Eminem, at the end of the movie had everyhead in the club jumping to his words. Then Poppa Dock had to get on afterwards and try to contest what Em had just done....He knew.. then that what ever he did. He wasn't going to win that crowd. Try coming back from that!!!

    What psychological battle it was.........

  • @280JERSEYDRIVE wow...to compare a real ass motherfucker like p to a fucking movie wanna be rap battle.....how insulting....and eminem is fuckin wack. go watch a real emcee battle.

  • rofl @ outro'

"creatures like it" (points to next DJ when he says "it")"

    ahahaha

  • lol thats kool but my homie has played using 6 different turntables and sounds pretty good lol he moves hellaquick

  • fenomenal

  • wish i was djin bak then, i wudda been good enuf to compete in dmc's.....

  • I see a lot of people talking crap, this was back in 1999, and the DMC is about creativity, and he was very creative if you ask me, think out the box, to do something nice you don't have to use all this customs records, and bs juggles, this routine was nicee \O/

  • @REDOXSTYLE yeah I agree... it was a different style but it was a different crowd also, they wanted something different from the DJ. Play that set today, and you get boo'd cus you'd only be copying that exact set. So you notice its been done like your favourite bicycle and cats just sometimes miss that sh*t

  • agreed, this guy is awesome

  • obviously spent too much time learning to break dance

  • jesus bro, i feel bad never seeing you... i saw q-bert at turned on 2 in madison WI, mixmaster mike a couple times, but i gotta get a heads up when u comin to Minnesota next. damn man, your what i could only hope to come close to... the white rabbit-

  • he looks like the Stifler of tablism .. lol .. sean michael scott .. i think .. props to the routine.

  • a bit of a wacko jacko. but back in 99 it was a different game in dmc

  • Said it before... I'll say it again.

Get A Job is STILL the hardest diss in hip hop.

  • You guys are idiots. This was in 99. This guy is the Rock Steady Dj now. He is a pioneer in mash ups! This guy was doing mash ups back in 97 in Tulsa!! If you ask me he is the one that started the whole mash craze. He has more musical talent and know how than you think!! Big ups Danny, Jeremy from Tulsa has your back!!!

  • i would go outside for a smoke if i was at this event .... wow

  • if i had a year to practice this routine i wouldnt need headphones and can a routine of just cutting and mixxing cut it? he should be juggling instead of breaking but good on him cause oklahoma arent known for their djs

  • HAHAHAHA "HES NOT FILIPINO!!!!"

  • freashhhhhhhhhh ...

    brasil say :

    yoooo

  • im missing it what was good about it?

  • Yo did he win? Cuz that was hot!!!

  • DJ P teaching DJ's how to be a DJ....

  • lol wtf ?

  • Really? WTF????

  • P is the man!

  • awesome hahah bboy and dj :D

  • take that you 1 trick rappers! booyah!

    LOL

the best thing about that set was he didn't use battle discs and had to swap discs the old school way. DMC competitions should ban battle discs in my opinion and make jocks work for it. it's so lame when you hear a dozen jocks in a row all cutting the same disc. swapping & cuing are part of spinning too as is digging the crates.

i saw absolutely no anger or violence in that set, just a "hip hop & don't stop" celebration of life. that's the real deal!

  • @djgambitron I think he used a D-styles battle weapon.

  • Wik wik wikity wak!

  • whats the beat a 2:07

  • @SCuthroat Definition by Black star what are you like 10? Classic Material

  • Comment removed

  • He clearly has no idea or skill of how to use the Technics to their full advantage - look at the manual beat match tuning at 4:08

  • true... he's no q-bert or noize, but he STILL has 10x the talent of any rapper. make that 20x when you throw b-boying into the mix.

this is the shee that no talent rappers ruined when they not only destroyed the ORIGINAL 3 elements, but then flipped hip-hop BACK to gangs & violence which it originally tried to END

  • Jam on it....

  • uuhhhh.... is this supposed to be a dope video? lol

  • at the 20 second mark is from beat street the movie......

  • Man that must of been the first DMC competition where someone brake danced in the middle of their set. lol

  • @pittster57 It's funny you should say that, because a guy did just that, at the Northern Ireland heat, in exactly the same year that P did it, 1999.

  • @funkateer17

dmc started as a blending mixing competition and has evolved since.. not hatin on beatjuggling or then inclusion of serato in the competition.. but really where unless if its dmc event or battle are u going to see beat juggling at clubs.. people go nuts when you mash up songs.. dj p your a beast!

  • @MTXSHO9732vV8SHO yep, RUN DMC started out with legit drums because they didn't have a drum machine back then.

  • I really need to stop posting here... Yes, yes, yes. Listen, It was commonplace to backspin 1 to 4 bars of a record like 'Walk This Way'. To any DJ that knows what I am talking about it is REAL EASY. Besides that, by the time RUN-DMC was recording THERE WERE programmable drum machines (Linn Drum-1982). I know that Sugarhill Records was using their hired musicians to record the albums in the late 70's. There was a mixture of both. You know what... Nevermind, I ain't said shit.

  • He did one time mix along side Z-TRIP in Lawrence, Kansas= -I- missed out to witness! ;-(....

  • Yea I was there at the Granada in 99' DMC getting ripped on Bourbon & Coke on this same routine...

  • I'm starting to notice that these very special shows are scheduled anymore on a date your working and to top it off... there's NO heads-UP time from KJHK in Lawrence to request it off and then to make it even more tougher your boss let's y.o.u. know that if y.o.u. call in sick=they will find someome else to fill the position, but on other hand -I- did get to witness Z-TRIP @ Thee POOL ROOM in Dec/January 13 degrees out side now this was fun trying to locate missed the irst thirty minutes ;-(...

  • Love this dude. He's like "I don't give a f***, you lot are getttin' entertained! "

  • dj p is fucking nasty, hes actually dj z-trips altor ego

  • No, they are two different people.

  • yeah i dont know what the fuck youre talking about there...

  • man!!!!!!i remember havin this on video, awesome routine bro, hope your still doin your thing man!

  • So ahead of his time .

  • @Collisos cash money was so ahead of his time this dude is not

  • this shit is minty fresh....

  • rectangles good but uhh

does he break in his routines and blend two very different styles of music?

    no? didnt think so

  • Comment removed

  • okay you are obviously ignorant to the art form so that statement shall pass...but only because you have NO idea what the fuck you are talking about.

    tempo pimpin....shuuut up. jesus. wtf.

  • yeah p is way fuckin dope. way more style and all that.

  • Comment removed

  • @DjKrisKrush Blend? Dude, this is the DMC!! These guys are meant to be above fucking blending!!

  • a dj that knows how to breakdance??? hell yeah!!! lol

  • Tight

  • world greatest entertainer dj p ) love it

  • one of my fav

  • thats because you dont know how to mix man.

  • you are an ignorant asshole, try that tom petty blend and then tell me again, this was live you retarded wannabe, you was still suckin on your momies titties when this happened . you better show some respekt you needless cockholster.

  • at first I hated the beginning...but the more I watched, the more I thought this was pretty creative. probably not the usual routine you would see but rocks in its own unique way. BIG UPS!!!!

  • DJ P is a true original, a B boy & Rock Steady to boot! This was a clip from 10 yeras ago DJ Cocky...so get a grip!

  • One of my favorite DMC routines of all time. I love seeing the mixing put back into the comps. His whole attitude about ti is great too. Eff it, I'm playing Don Henley and you're gonna like it!!!

  • "this routine is corny as hell... cant believe i watched the whole set... "LOL!

Its like stepping into a time machine, its tight as hell though...for 1984.

I can't fault him too much... I'm stuck in '97myself so to each their own!

    Peace!

  • fuck you, i bet you can not even blend you Homo King, go back to the phsychodelic Trance forum you fuckin Low life

  • Sigh...you seem very full of usefull replies on thie thread, u kiss your mom with that mouth? Read (if you can) my original post again before you spew profanities little boy.

Did i detract from his skills at any time?

LEARN something. I am commenting on his style; some people prefer old school tranforms, some us us can understand and prefer quad click reverse orbits ... its called evolution. To each their own. You arent too phocking witty that's for sure.

    Peace

  • ok.

  • Hey P, i know u probably don't remember me, but i remember you!!! You knocked me out of the competition that year with that set in Lawrence, Kansas. You did your thang!!! I remember they didnt allow video cameras at the DMC in Lawrence...too bad cuz when u did it in Lawrence it was a little tighter. This is my first time seeing this video, but i remembered u instantly! This was a good video, but i'm a witness.. the one in Lawrence, was flawless!!! That's why u won. Congrats! Dj CAS. Lawrence, Ks

  • genius!

  • this whole set is perfect ! haha

hip hop .. right before your eyes. peace yo !

  • Allot of the mixing he seemed so enthusiastic about was really out of key, i think the point of playing 2 records together is they are in time & don't clash.

  • p We need some new stuff, we love your style hook a brotha up. Ha Ha

  • nice one dj p i liked every tune in the set

  • Um, Danny ain't from Tulsa...

  • yeah he just lived there a long time and reps it. he was born in springfield misouri. woohoo for you.

  • dj p is a fucking genius!

    speechless

    10/10 for creativity

  • 1:52 almost took off hiss slipp matt

  • that sucked. how did he make it to the finals?

  • what are you talking about???

DMC is about criativity, everybody does the hard stuff, beat juggle, awesome scratches, he did it a little bit diferent, not so tecnical, but that shit was nice

  • there is a awesome mix on the pirate bay of him and dj z trip called uneasy listening. if you like this, that is your shit. does anyone know what the name of that break in the first song with tom petty is called?

  • funny

  • wohw he fucked the other one up real good at the end

  • Wow...a true dj who can bring it back to the element of djing. Fuck all the scratches that fools think is necessary now, his routine had the perfect mix of party rocking and scratching to compliment one another perfectly.

  • scratching is essential, as he scratched during his set./....

  • yeappp agree, lol

but i think people should also include in they routine a little bit of mixing like he did. agree? the scratching, and beat juggle is a must, he didnt do no beat juggle, but his routine was diferent i liked it uahuahuahauhauahu lol

  • This guy is realy i his groove and thats what makes his music and videos so good I make music and always watch his videos before a I start cause it realy gets me in the beats and groove. DJP rocks his combination of retro eras is awsome

  • awesome!

  • dont think i am missing the point i get it its about entertaing but just for me its not what dmc is all about its about technique and skill this is just a showoff disco dj,

  • Haters can hate, but the real headz know the deal. DJ P and ZTrip are two of the most influential DJS out there!!!! DJ P being my fav.

  • nice chair freeze at the end..!

  • you're missing the point completely

  • he killed it, craze was on his feet throughout

  • Dude SHUT IT DOWN! I remember when I first saw this and I tried to hate because I was a hardcore scratch nerd, but it's all about entertainment, and he did just that. I still get a kick out of watching this.

  • yeah plus it's an amazing mix.

  • I didn't know Stifler was a DJ...

  • what is the beat at 3-48 that says jam rollin

  • Actually it says "jam on it" because the name of the song is Jam On It by Newcleus.

  • very innvativ, outstanding performance-- I adore this man -- Uneasy Listening (1999)-- - best Blendings ever ---

    --DOOOOPE--

  • Anyone know the name of the track he drops at the 2:08 mark?

  • Definition by Blackstar

  • tom petty is the first song

  • i thought that was fuckin great

  • yo, P is the hometown hero. i understand for the "hardcore heads" who aren't educated, have a hard time feeling this, But, this is turntablism at the core. It's so tight because it was a good performance. DO I LISTEN TO MASHUPS ALL DAY? NO. but this is something to be appericated. BESIDES ALL YOU PILLOWBITERS RECOGNIZE, HE'S IN THE RSC.

    FAGGOTS. ROCK STEADY CREW!

  • it got better at the end and it was funny

  • It also was the only routine at the DMC that year that got a standing ovation. Just because a DJ doesn't go crazy with the scratch routine, people don't want to hear it.

My personal opinion is this routine had a good deal of influence and helped start the whole "mash-up" rage.

  • is this a fucking joke ive been had.

  • um..... =/ whatsup with the fishy mouth? hahahaa

  • WHAT THE PH*%^&$@%^k! PLEASE TELL ME THIS ISN'T SO? I'M DISAPPOINTED!
