This video should be mandatory viewing for anyone too young to appreciate the brilliance of ECW back in the day. This wasn't just any standard feud in ECW/FMW. This was arguably THE feud. In any matter, its right there with the Dreamer/Raven and Taz/Sabu rivalries.
ECW One Night Stand 2005. Tanaka Vs Awesome. If only once, this was the night ECWs "Hardcore wrestling" ethic finally went mainstream...and it blew everything the WWE has produced that year clear out of the water.
This claim can be easily disputed but in my opinion, the Masato Tanaka vs Mike Awesome set the bar for all wrestling rivalries. It lasted a little over a decade and spanned two continents. I don't care if One Night Stand 2005 was a brainchild of Vince McMahon or not. I don't care if that pay-per-view happened to be funded and produced by WWE. All that mattered is that night, in their last match together. Masato and Awesome showed what hardcore really is... I'm not talking about the tables.
