  • wow... to be honest.i ant believe i didnt notice that

  • It's been a few I have felt quite uneasy with Disney like if something was totally corrupted in all that world. It felt like stinking harsh Republican conservative. An ugly hypocrisy.... I had stopped to feel like dreaming before Disney cartoons for quite a while before I noticed certain political messages definetly oriented toward a very conservative rigth wing. Disney is ugly. I has sworn to never watch anything coming from them or pixar.

  • Oh my gosh! How are these G rated? RACISM IS BAD! dumb disney. I have Another reason to hate Disney.

  • i never noticed this~

  • Wow, I never realized that...

  • wtf they cut off ur ear if they dont like ur face? o.o

  • well walt disney hates Jews i no that but black people 2!!!!! jeeze!

  • wow this is so crazy and complicated

  • thats really bad no more Disney

  • holy shit thats weird

  • fuck you disney

  • Wow dsiney, you've been secretly trying to brainwash us. Sooo messed up!And why does this vid have ratings below 5/5? This has really opned my eyes, people! and this still gets a 3/5!?!? I rated it 5/5 :P...

  • Omg, looking back, I never noticed any of this.

  • fuckin racist disney

  • Other comment didn't show up... meh.

My parents were very conscious of this, actually. I remember my mother telling me the story of Pocahontas before allowing me to watch it, and she didn't let me anywhere NEAR "Song of the South", for obvious reasons.

Might wanna research the phallic imagery as well. There were some sick people working on those movies, apparently...

  • disney cartoons were using almost all stereotypes..

but i dont think they'd use any now

  • omfg

  • that was quite clever and i never noticed how most antagonists have overeaggerated english accentsbut thinking about it they do! and it aint fair it makes us brits look bad. well except for zazu he made us look stiff like most american media.

  • OMG, i hate those f-ing crows. kudos for this video

  • I hope disney disappears!

    It's ruining children's mind!

I just realized but I have been evil!

    Until to this day!

    I've been selfsih!

Oooh! i hate Disney for their actions!

    why ruin good?

I can't believe Dinsey is doing this to the children's mind! I'm just so angery!

  • I agree nearly all villians end up with British accents I mean why? Were not evil and its not as if all Americans are good.

  • The most racist company in entertainment:

    -The Arabs, explained here

    -the African-Americans, MANY times over

-WE JEWS, possbibly target number 1, though the Farcian-Americans could make an argument

-Native Americans (ever see Peter Pan?)

That's not even counting the WWII-era racism; all the companies really hit the Japanese, and Asians in general, hard and slandered for the next 20 years. Doesn't mean it's right Disney did it, but everyone did.

Disney's for the KKK and the ignorant.

  • good comment

  • wow.... thats terrible. it's bad enough that some grandparents turn their grandchildren into racists but this is jsut terrible

  • wow...i didn't kno thats really how that somg went

  • Yeah Disney went to Nazi Hollywood meetings. Look at Pinocchio - The bad guys are: gays (the fox and cat), Gypsies (the puppeteer) and Jews (Guy who turns them into Donkeys and makes them work).

I'd still let my kid watch Disney cause though it's disgusting, it took me this long to notice the racism and sexism - it didn't affect me as a child at all, it went straight over my head and I just liked the magic of it.

  • seriously when i have kids, its gonna be FUck Disney

  • lol thanks for the video, i watch this program for years but never really listen the intro song hehe. never realize it was like this.

  • so true!

  • agh Dumbo is banned from my future kids... I'm sorry but I love Aladdin too much.

  • I can't believe I never noticed that before! I never actually paid attention to the lyrics of the songs...

  • You forgot some things: Si and Am, Jim Crow (Dumbo), "What makes the Red Man Red?" (Peter Pan".

  • If you look at it, the Aladdin movie portrayed arabs as dumb and void of free will. The song a whole new world is bashing arab culture in favour of American culture. Aladdin even asks her when last she let her heart decise so he's saying it like she has no will.

  • woah.... im glad i was never a big fan of disney films when i was little...

  • Like any other 90's kid, I grew up watching these movies. . .so it makes me sick to my stomach when I see things like this. It's sad, but I mean, these movies are old. Times have changed, and a lot of people are more open-minded. I love Disney, but this. . .makes me sad. . .

  • they do this on the lion king, too. scar, the villain has an english accent, while the heroes are american, it has always been that way.

  • Disney, you disgust me

  • mickey mouse was supposed to portray what walt disney thought of african american people, because he was 1. all black and 2.mice are supposed to be the lowest form of life on the face of the earth. so uh do the math, walt disney is a racial ass hole

  • ah yes THE CROWS! the crows from the dumbo movie was classic! oooh godness!

quote from black crow: issh sseen a hol otta thingz fly, butt aa eelluppaannt?

    classic stereotyping at its BEST!!

  • wow. horrifying.

  • :0 Oh my god... I never realized this!

  • Wow!!!! i never thought of Aladdin or Dumbo in that way!! I use to watch Aladdin all the time when I was younger, now I'll never think of it in the same way!

  • It's sad. Even Disney(those supposed films of wonder, goodness and dreams come true) had their share in racism. Pity.

  • disney is more then racist, its satanic..

  • Wow, that gave me the shivers... O.o

  • When i found out about that a few years ago on wikipedia i was outraged i am middle eastern myself!

  • Guge we all know Disney is racist, its nothing new. look at Dumbo

  • I'm a little shocked, to be honest. As a kid, you don't notice these things, though. I mean, I liked Aladin when I was little because they were Middle Eastern, like me!

But now, yes...I can see it's not so great...

  • That's totally true. At least it's gotten a little better in the very recent years, people are rightfully sensitive to those negative messages more these days. :)

  • I see both sides of the coin on this one. As parent and black man, I can see children misinterpretting "subtle" suggestion. But, lest we forget, cartoons were initially played for adults before movies, etc (Ref. Betty Boop cartoons esp. feat. Cab Calloway).People tend to assume ALL cartoons should be 4 kids and set to such standards.

Answer: I'll watch Disney movies AS A FAMILY and responsibly discuss after. There's a LOT of American History that isn't censored either so why stop @ Disney?

  • no more disney in my house (swear to god)

  • omg wow

  • When Michael Eisner took over as Disney in 1984, Disney has become very racist and very anti-Arab. The Baptist league started to boycott Disney for its anti- Christian bias. The media focused on the Baptist's objection to such things as gay days at Disney but they over looked there legitimate objections like Disney making anti-Christian movies like Dogma (which I liked & found funny) and most damning is the wedding scene in The Little Mermaid where the Priest has an erection, some people say..

  • holy shit.... thats scary

  • I had a feeling it was racist

  • what the fuck i never noticed that

  • Realy?

  • That song "we work all day " is bloody awful. Seriously, that is soo racist i'm shocked by it. And stereotyping arab people is also wrong. Aladin wasnt made that long ago either.

Intersting vid. Made me realise some things i didnt know before

  • "Let's toast to years of obvious brain washing!" I bet thats what Disney would say. To target inoccent children in such ways is evil. Telling them what it means to be an American. Disney is sick good riddens and rip to him.

  • Wow great job, i had no idea. Thankz for opening my eyes and the world's eyes to whats really going on! =)

  • Wow! I NEVER actually read the lyrics to that dumbo song with the african americans working. But yeah, that's TOTALLY a negative stereotype. I've also had my 2 cents to share with the uncle remus story.

  • Disney has had many suggestive elements in the past in regards to sex or race. You forgot to mention the Lion King. Why is it for a movie that's based in the heart of Africa, the lead character of Simba is voiced by Jonathan Taylor Thomas? In fact, there are only 3 black actors in the entire film. Whoopi Goldberg, Robert Guillaume, & James Earl Jones. This is NOT to say that only black people live in Africa, but c'mon. Only THREE?! Is it "racist" per se? Probably not, but something to note.

  • I've always noticed that about the accents. In most movies, the British-accented guy is evil.

  • well racism is bortn out of ignorance

  • thats fucked up. o_o

  • yeah DIsney is full of shit, i caught this shit various years after i wtahced the movies n shit its racist horrible shit...etc

    fuck em

  • Totally Walt Disney was a racist, anti Semitic and misogynist

  • WTF!!!!! lol..OMG..Is this forreal? OMG WTF!! Disney what the hell!!!

  • i personally love disney, but i never really did pay attention to what they were saying. thats intresting.

  • I never heard those lyrics in that song from alladin...oh my god LOL

  • that picture of jafar looks creepy as hell!

  • I totally agree that Disney villifies Arab people (amongst many others) but you neglected to mention in your example that Jafar, who is an 'evil arab' does not have an arabic accent. He speaks in very clipped British tones, like all Disney villains, Scar etc. It's the English accent which signifies evil to them

  • Yea, glad you got that...

That was the point I was trying to make.

Remember guys the video is about sound (thus the accents in thay example)

    :)

  • hey im 13 and i just asked my mom about this coz i found this very interesting she told me that walt disney himself was antisemetic me been a jew its a shocker

  • I found out that people say Walt Disney was actually quite Nazi.

And theres a load of 'subliminal messages' in Disney films...

But, some movies still rock. x3 The Lion King is just amazing.

  • OO no way...Walt Disney a Nazi? @.@ Really??

  • The Lion King is cool, but the Hyenas are just stereotypes of black people. Lion King is racist too.

  • Hitler wanted to make some deal with him to make more "pro"-German films. Snow White is a German fairytale. Walt Disney's publicist, or something, eventually claimed that he declined. However, someone found paintings, by Disney, with Hitler's signature on it. You also have to account that not all of Hitler's acquaintances were Nazis and/or had any idea of concentration camps. Disney later came out with anti-German propaganda during WWII.

Yeah, Disney has many negative racial&sexual messages.

  • you know at the one scene when the lion it looking up at the stars, they say sex

  • well they say disney himself was an antisemitic guy

  • lol yeah... the lion king had "sex" written all over the movie as well.

  • YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • yeah, i can see that. many american movies potray those with british accent to be evil because they were simply fighting a bloody war of independence against the british during the american revolution.

  • look in the lion king- its there 2. the guy who voices scar is british(english) and the heroes are american- that's wrong!

  • For some reason there are a lot of movies where the evil side is british. Just look at Star Wars - Grand Moff Tarkin, Darth Sidious, etc. Oh wait, Darth Vader wasn't british - but what else was different about him... oh yah, he's black! Ready to "probe" the innocent Princess Leaia... maybe deep down she *wanted* to be probed tho...

  • I agree with you mate, totally

  • oh my gosh your so right...wow racist sons of bitches

  • You ever notice in Star Wars the imperial officers all have english accents.

  • Yeah, I'm English, and I take offence that bad guys almost always have British accents. It makes us look bad!

  • yeah, even in brave heart and the patriot all the bad guys had english accents. how weird. maybe Mel Gibson has something against brits?

  • omgosh... I know!

  • i think that it's offensive aswell. i'm british and not evil. americans can be evil too, we're not the only ones!!

  • Thats true...It's wierd though. I like that accent.

  • AHAHHAH..lol

  • Spot on. I hadn't noticed it until I saw the Top Gear interview with Simon Pegg (it's on here somewhere and it's hilarious).

  • i never really liked disney, then i forgot y i hated it and more i remember y, coz of what it puts in films. what the hell is wrong with the disney people?!

  • I agree with you on the Arab stereotypes I believe Roger Ebert pointed out that Aladdin and Jasmine look like white kids while the rest of the characters have different facial features eg big lips big shoulders eyebrows etc. I would except it if it were in before the 70s but this was the 90s not allowed in my book.

  • You really think Jasmine and Aladdin looked like "white kids"? Every character had certain stereotypical qualities associated with Arabs. Yes, Jafar's beard, nose, and his general "snake" theme were obviously more closely associated with Arabs.

We can't compare what they wore, since every character wore arab-themed clothing, but both Aladdin and Jasmine had noses and hair that were pretty much associated with the Arab culture.

not to mention that no leading character had an arab-accent.

  • There are all kinds of subliminal messages in disney movies.

msg me if you'd like to know.

  • I like to know!

  • I´m glad I found this. Disney is nothing but a indoctrination unit. Freaky ass hell!

  • "Oh yeah the crow says hi too." That actually gave me a laugh.

  • Wow!

  • haha! well done!

also check out a few of disneys many racist slams on native people of the americas...peter pan etc

    keep it up!:D

  • What bothers me is the clear stereotyping of princesses based on hair color. Brunettes are smart, black haired women are strong willed, red head (hm... only one of those) is passionate and curious, blondes are sweet and submissive. But I suppose this one just hits closer to home for me. And we have yet to even SEE a black princess. If you ask me, the only true disney heroine is Mulan. She represents real women. None of the others are multidemensional enough.

  • Mulan rocks. I always get annoyed with the other heroines in disney because they always just sit around looking pretty waiting to be rescued...but not Mulan. In fact, she saves the men! I like that she gives out the message "you dont have to sit around wearing a pretty dress to be someone!"

  • i totally agree with u, especially the Mulan part. she proves that women can be great people and not just men, no offense to anyone

  • Mulan proves the sexists right. She shows that the only way to be valued in society is by extolling the 'manly' values of men, ie. physical strength and what is typified as 'manhood'.

  • Yes, EXACTLY! Pretty much all they say is, The BLODES are the beautiful ones and that the others are prtty much made to be less memorable. Which disney princess is featured most, even today? Cinderella. Second most? Sleeping Beauty. What colour is their hair? Blonde. I don't understand how society came to this conclusion, but remember that Hitler's 'Super-Race' was supposed to be a world FULL of people with Blonde hair and Blue eyes. Nazi-ish much? and you're also right about the black princess!

  • look for the banned sunflower scene from fantasia. and warner brothers does it to with fog horn leg horn being homophobic.

  • Wow. LOVE UR VIDEO! WOW!

  • my class looked at this in media studies today and we discovered that it is also racist towards the british in a sense because the villains voice is british and the hero is a american this also is an example of jingoism (where you love your country) good video post

  • Glad to see you got it :)

**THE POINT OF THE VIDEO IS ANALYZING SOUND THEREFORE ACCENTS IN THE CASE OF JAFAR**

  • the soundtrack to pocahontas and the original movie if you listen to the song "savages" you'll hear them sing "they're barely even human"

  • thats true! i always hated that song i would fast forward through that part. even though a lot of the movie has demeening qualities in it.

  • awesome

maybe u want to include the monkey scene from jungle book where "king lois" and the other swinging "gorillas" want to be like a real humans - but are not really

  • Yeah but the thing about the chihuahua was because chihuahuas are patheritc little dogs, bo coz they're hispanic.

English people in the Simpsons and other TV programmes are always portrayed to be gay, which I find really annoying. We don't speak like evryone thinks either and not everyone sits round all day drinking tea.

  • man, I'm surprised

I'm shocked with the Dumbo thing

    harsh man

  • If you think English versions of Disney movies are not suitable for children, listen to the Icelandic ones. For example, type: Lion King - Be Prepared (icelandic) subbs+translation in the search window.

  • just like everyone else here i never noticed it at the time cause i was too young. but damn...

  • Meh. I grew up watching Disney, and I'm barely even racist.

  • lol at "barely even"

  • i'm barely racist too! lol

  • As though this is new... Ever noticed that Disneys favourite past time is making movies out of fairy tales? And let's not get started on the stereo types you can learn from fairy tales! (The good are always beautiful and the bad are always ugly and different from the norm (a witch living somewhere deep in the woods).)

Still, THIS is better than some of the stuff kids watch these days. I have nothing against anime, but have you seen what some kids do to teach other, when they play "Naruto"?

  • same here alterii!! whoa! i never expected this from DISNEY!

  • What about Ratatouille? One of the cooks says, "I hate to be rude, but we're French." That's pretty harsh. Aladdin doesn't bother me. The villain as well as the hero are Middle Eastern. They actually changed that "cut off your ear" line when it came out on video. Now it says something about how hot it is.

I think the worst in this video is the men who "slave away."

  • I'm Middle Eastern but Aladdin is still my favorite disney movie!

    But you're right..it's a little harsh..

  • Those fuckin crows are the reason i never watched Dumbo ever again lol.

  • dont forget the siamese cats from the lady and the tramp..i think that is the most racist of all

  • What about the annoying stereo type as representing the Hispanic as a puny pathetic and delinquent chihuahua in Lady and the tramp for example, and there was another one where the chihuahua stole a car. I am so angry. I never liked that movie.

  • omggg yeah!~!!~

  • i dont know y this is a surprise... disney is a zionist supporting company so of course theyre gonna portray arabs as badly as they possibly can... y esle would aladin calls a monkey "father" (abu)

  • LMAO

  • LOL

  • i ever noticed that line in alladin b4...disney is a hot mess

  • what movie is the second part from?

  • dumbo

  • I never understood what they were saying in any of those songs when I was a little kid.

  • yeah i got the Arabian nights song because its kinda cool sounding but then i noticed it was a bit to far with the negative portrayal part

  • old news. disney has been this way for years.

  • HOLY SHIT!!! i never thought about that.i mean i dont remember the words, but now since im older i kinda start to understand and really hear the lyrics haha.good call lol.

  • The Al Jolson crows, now, that's another story. I personally consider it interesting--a look back on humor that wouldn't be considered acceptable today, but was considered benign and innocent in the 40s. However, I do think that we as a society (America) have taken PC to an absurd level, and whitewashing the past does nothing. Perhaps we find this imagery so offensive because most Americans still agree with the sentiments expressed. We just learn to hide it better, these days.

  • As a historian, I couldn't have said it better myself!

  • This is such an interesting issue. As another poster pointed out, Disney did get flack for the line "Where they cut off your ear if they don't like your face", and it was changed in the video release of the movie (however, it contains the original line in the soundtrack).

  • damn sublimonal bigotry for our children.

  • Hey...Walt Disney himself was a racist...so think about that for a minute.

  • he was anti-semitic more than anything.

  • yes, you should hear the roger rabbit movie, it even says the n word

  • Damn, I grow up on this. And to learn your greatest childhood momments were full of racal slurs. AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • SOOoooo fucking agree LMAO

  • OMG! I've never thought of it that way!

  • But Disney shows are soooooooo good....

i love beauty and the beast.

  • THIS SOME DEEP ISSH..makes me think it does seem a lil racist

  • O_O OMG...WHAT?

  • The worst injustice about the Alladin film was the fact that Alladin was Chinese. Not arab. Disney makes a living by taking fantastic folktales from around the world and butchering them beyond all recognition. The Brothers Grimm must be spinning in their graves.

  • HEY!! Good video :D Valid points, you're right!!!

But they DID change the lyrics...in America, at least, they took out the "they cut off your ear if they dont like your face" and replaced it with "it's flat and immense and the heat is intense..." They changed it already!

  • ♥ Yes, Disney is racist, it was mad in the 20th century of course. :/ And if you notice, have you seen all of the disney princesses? None are Black of course. :( But thankfull ^_^ i think in like 2009, Disney will be airing theyre first Black princess movie. ♥♥♥ Finally, they have caught up on the times. No more rascism♥☺♥☻♥☺♥☻☺♥

  • ive heard that too. it is about time. i cant wait to see what its like.the lion king did no justice! how you gonna make a story about africa with no africans in it? funny they would pick only that movie to do that in. that story was stolen from a guy that i know. the original name was king simba.

  • Actually, lion king was based off hamlet. Y'know.. with the uncle...desperate for the throne etc etc

  • good video

  • as a kid, i never really relized that alladin is really refering to me, my culture, my people, or where i come from.

    (im an arab)

  • I understand your point. I really do. I just think that now, people are taking things too far. As a child, I grew up believing that everyone was equal and the same, because of what my parents taught me. Racism in these movies never seemed to be something important. And you know what? I didn't even realise it until now. Why bother making a big deal of something when the kids don't even pick up on it? But thanks anyway.

  • lol i just spent the last 5 minutes typing up a response pretty much identical to yours. XD so yeah... ill just concur with you and give you a thumbs up :)

  • its so true tht no child would ever pick up on this. im a grown adult now and i still dont pick up on half the stuff haha but its so interesting just looking at it all in depth now. but it doesnt matter how racist or subliminally evil these films are goin to be made out, people will still love the 'disney classic' films.

  • Disney hated the Jews. It's a proven fact. He was Adolf Hitler's illegitimate son.

  • Check out The Sword in the Stone. Wart has an american accent while everyone else in the movie have British accents. go figure

  • i can't believe it they are trying to make the kids hates Arabs.:S they are sick

  • Disney was always racist. I'm talkin about Walt.

  • yeah dumbo was definitely racist. this isn't surprising though since it's from the 1940s. aladdin's racism is also pretty apparent now that we think back on it. most of the time id on't think it's very harmful, but it does color arabs in a simplistic way to kids, so when they grow up they're probably easier to hate or scorn on peopel from the middle east.

  • I'm just sitting here with my jaw on the desk. I when you're a kid you never notice how horrible these things are. Sheesh. thanks for making this video.

  • ha ha funny

  • funny shit

  • yeah it is racist, they are trying to imply that all arabs are uncivilised

  • What the hell? That sure made a point. But still, that was just my reaction. I was shocked. Once again (in CAPs): "WHAT THE HELL?!"

  • what movie is the second song from? I'm doing a similar project and would like to use this clip.

  • Dumbo
