Betty, that looks wonderful. Please help me with my " ice tea" situation. I just can not get it right. My family is from Arkansas and my Grandmother makes the best sun tea. how can I achieve this type of tea living in Ca - thanks
Steaks look Great!Living in South.Calif. we grill just about all year around b/c the normal weather here is about 70-80 degrees all year round. It's a shame we don't see seasons tho.Just seems like summer all the time here. Some may really dig that lol, but we do get tired of it & we would give anything to see some snow (really any snow, but it don't snow here) I would just adore some good ol' cold weather. But we do grill all year. It's funny when I pull up from work, all I smell is other's BBQing
@bettyskitchen Southern Calif. is nice, but really tho,we would luv to see something other than sun.I know that sounds funny to most, but I gotta tell ya - when we hear it might sprinkle (even rain!) we get happy! I think we have 1 umbrella (somewhere) in the house. As to jackets, we just wear a light sweatshirt. On the weekends it's shorts & tees & flip flops. I'm being honest this weather gets boring lol. I spent a Chrismas once in Colorado and ohhh my ..I loved all that snow.We do BBQ alot tho
Here I thought that my roommate and I were the only people in the world that enjoyed Blue Cheese on our ribeyes. Guess I have to get out more often. I also agree with Rick that there is more natural steak flavor when the steak is cooked medium than well done. We usually finish off our steaks in the broiler for 2 minutes to turn the blue cheese into a creamy mess.
@smartbet P.S.----I also feel Rick's pain on the well done steak. I can't tell you how many times I have turned my back just for a minute and when I returned to the grill, I found a raging inferno has nuked my poor steak!
I haven't had steak in a very long time but these look amazing! I like mine well done, w/sauteed onions but I'm going to try it this way! I'm so hungry now!!!
Delish! I would like asagio or blu cheese on my medium well steak. Hubby likes his really rare ( ick!) I tell him that Ive see cows hurt worse than his steak get up and run!
you both make a beautiful couple... love the way you demonstrate with great detail.. and it easy to find all the products used. (love that) very inspiring.. love to hear to talk as well.. cute!
Your steaks look so good Betty. I prefer a well done steak too....thanks for sharing these delicious dishes with uos....hope your enjoyed them......Richard ;-)
We are the same with steaks I like them well done. My cousin likes them bloody.
When I do crave for steaks I do not really like the big huge pieces with bone, I prefer the cheap like $3 steaks with 2 in a pack or those fancier eye of round steaks.
I've never had Ribeye Steak before. I'm Filipino, living in the Philippines, and all we usually get in our meals are tiny cuts of meat (adobo, thin porkchop, etc.) and, most usually, they're just fried with a little bit of seasoning...and then a side of rice, to make us fuller (again: tiny cuts of meat). =\
I've tried some scrumptious ribs, though, at a restaurant. The meat was so tender and juicy and the barbecue sauce it had on it was simply delicious! My mouth's watering right now.
@love2hatedrugs All I know is get the grill really hot before you put the steaks on, let them cook undisturbed for a few minutes, then rotate them 60 or 90 degrees. It helps to have a grill surface with considerable mass, like cast iron or heavy steel to carry enough heat to sear the meat before it cools.
@bettyskitchen well said Rick, that is great advice... Love the idea of topping a steak I am going to have to try that! beautiful meal I swear I could smell it! looks gooooooooooooood! No Rick we won't enjoy it as much as you! hehe Great video!
This reminds me of one of my fav dishes right now that we eat at the local casino restaurant: a small steak well done on a fresh bun topped with sauteed white onion and mushrooms sprinkled with goat cheese on top of the steak with a side of sweet potatoe fries. This looks delicious too!
I'm making potato soup for dinner tonight and I have to go to the grocery store for a couple ingredients. After seeing this video, it looks like i'll be picking up several more things... including steak! i know what's for dinner tomorrow night!! lol =)
Dearest Betty, this dinner looks absolutely amazing! I can almost smell those ribeyes on the grill. A steak is exactly what I'm craving now. We woke up to more snow this morning, but I'm anxious for this weather to break so I can start grilling more outdoors. You look beautiful as always my dear friend. Much love to you and yours...
Betty and Rick how nice you have no snow, even here in ontario we have lots of snow but we still bbq on the closed in deck for the winter lol my husband just loves those fried mashed potatoes we like the left over mashed patties but these are easier sunday now my husband wants rib eye steak we have in the freezer guess what !!!!! lol oh yes i forgot we both have two handsome husbands lol even mine at 69 he still looks good
@tonybean37 Rick here--I have done just a bit of the P90X so far. I had an operation in December that kept me from any exercise for about two months, so I have some remedial work to do just to get back into the condition I was before. I have just started back with some weights (sort of a break in program) and some high intensity interval training on the off days because it's so quick. I intend to do some of the P90X segments (like stretching), but am not sure about the whole program yet.
@iRwaaar You do need a pull-up bar and some dumbbells or exercise bands. They suggest yoga blocks and mat for that particular video. Also, I think, some chairs or something upon which you can do dips for one or two of the videos. Mostly it's body weight, though.
@dburns163 Rick here--As Betty said, I generally like my steaks a little rarer, but, since I was the guy on grill duty, it's no one's fault but my own. I went inside for a minute and fat drippings flared up, accelerating the cooking process. Anyway, it was still very good.
My husband likes his steak rare 2 medium rare but I like mine medium 2 medium well. I might would try my steak with sum of the toppings like u put on them but my husband wouldn't. He doesn't want ANY TYPE of seasoning on his steaks. He always says a GOOD steak shouldn't need ANYTHING on it lol I like sauteed mushrooms on mine occassionally. I have seen restaurants that offer bleu cheese topping but never tried it, sounds good tho. I had wondered what u served those potato balls with, now I know.
Sure does look great Betty and Rick! Can't go out and get a Ribeye today. Snow Storm in progress, so chicken dinner will do. I Thank you Jesus for all the great food that u bless me and my family with and thank you Betty for your wonderful recipes. Thank you also for all the great vacations u share with us. Where do we go next?;)
