Just found this: Goodness, 14 and this much subtlety? Unreal. He brought out interesting things I've never really put together before, and I've known this piece for years. His voicing is genius. I'll be following him. He's now a young adult and I suspect I'm in for decades of pleasure.
music is an art! i dont know why everyone thinks art is only drawing or painting. There are several arts and music is one of the most beautiful and one of the most important. Unfortunately art is losing of its beauty because the so called artists are interested in producing the abstract that is not art but it is easy to do and it means a lot of cash. There is need of someone who evaluates art for what it is in reality; imangination and skill.
I like his soft touch on the keyboard. Also, he gives the music good character throughout - great combinations of intense and soft. I like the fact that he makes eye contact with the orchestra to communicate his music expression.
He is a young chap - but his maturity and respect for the piece helps him play it with the right touch. He face looks like he's a man whose been maried, divorsed, pays a mortgage and published his autobiography.
This young boy has the patience of an old man, which is a very unusual and a very good thing. His sound is very clear, and I think that hes playing like Proust write about saint-saenz, really approaching to the real beauty of Mozart music.
On the bad side he has several technique problems, like his thumb straight, his wrist up sometimes, his hand is not round, etc. He's very young, so he may correct these and become a really good pianist, even a virtuoso.
Hello! Congratulations! I was surprised to see this video! I had seen your video playing Beethoven's Appassionata a long time! and now I ran into you playing Mozart, this piano concerto on this amazing show! I just wanted to say I was happy as if I know you! Congratulations!
PS: sorry my english, it was translated by google!!! i'm from Brasil!!!
I hope this person isn't old, because I'm about to learn this. One of my favorite piano concertos. It's such a lovely interpretation! And people should be paying attention to the music of the piano and the symphony, not the pianists looks...just pointing that out...
so clean! i played this song last year when i was 13..the trills at 2:19 are so hard to keep in rhythm with the left hand. that was my least favorite part, got me marked down a few points in a competition..you did it really good though. nice job
Good work! I can tell that you put a lot of effort into this.
Now, I have one word of advice. There needs to be just a little more fluid motion with the wrist. I noticed that you keep your wrists and hands tight when attempting the fast passages. It might not bother you now, but you will get carpal tunnel later in your career.
Otherwise, five star performance. I will be performing this myself this year, but probably not with an orchestra. You're a very lucky and gifted kid.
very, but i mean it,very good!i have played piano for a long time,i have been to a lot of masterclasses and i have to say, this boy really knows how to play Mozart.i know it requires a lot of maturity that is why he impresses me so much.i am almost 15 and i want to perform it to,i hope in the winter and i must say you are a model!
Outfrigginstanding. Technique, musicianship, etc. You got two ways to go, Scarlatti, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, or go over to the dark side with Liszt, Ravel, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, SaintSaens, Prokofieff, etc. Or a little of each.
I am a HUGE lover of Mozart and I could not hear this recording at all =(. Is there a way you can fix that? I would love to hear you play some more Mozart. Many people say that Mozart is not hard to play, but I feel it takes a very good musician to play a good Mozart. A special touch is required to play a good Mozart and I am very picky =P Post more Mozart!
I found this no interesting at all.Maybe, the pianist is too young to have a good appraoch of mozart work..See gulda video or maria joao pires, perahia ....to make the difference..
i ttly agree...i played this and im kinda like him cz i can be really tense and i dont show enough emotion..dats probably y i didnt win and only got 3rd place

Hmm... Jesus said somewhere in the book of John that each one is given something different, but it's up to you to use them to their full potential :) Of course God isn't surprised, He knows everything. ^^
I OFFICIALLY AM MARRYING YOU !! FINALLLLLLLLLLLYYY SOMEONE IS TALKIN' SOME SENSE ....... YET PEOPLE AREN'T HEARING YOU !! ..... anyways thank you ...... that really touched me !!
k466 is to me the best piano concerto Mozart composed, unlike all the others, he'd put so much feeling in it, not just in a classical musical way, simply amazing!
there is no genius like mozart in the world may be beethoven but I hate comaring them cause who the fuck am I to compare them mozart is god and beethoven is god sometimes too.
agreed, who da fuck are we to judge gods like them...however, the comparison between Mozart and Beethoven harms them both because they are both geniuses, and geniuses are incomparable...
why nobody improvise this music ? mozart has improvised his music - classical interpretation is absolutely overestimated. a point : "Do not follow the old masters´steps, but seek what they were seeking... " Basho (1644-1694) : japanese haiku - master :-) ! ..you wonna see/hear something realy innovative - how to improvise classical music ?! look for video : "bach sarabande jazz guitar" or visite renatorozic dot com ..you ll be nicely surprised .. :-)
but he ment you should invent something new not based on your masters work! why should some jazz guitar player better know how bach is played than bach?
btw its a nice cover - but based on the genius work from bach wich is played totally different and better.
pls respect more this genius musicans and the way they played their music
Very cautious I might add. His largo style leaves much to lack in terms of passion, yet his accountability of each particular phrase is executed nicely.
A cautious interpretation of one of Mozart's most passionate pieces. Perhaps he'll have more interesting things to say about it when he gets a little older?
I definately feel I have wasted my childhood, maybe I will look back, and think the events of my childhood were necessary, but right now, I think what a waste. Don't want to waste even a minute morel.
The pianist looks extremely comfortable and set with his instrument, it's a very natural and fluent thing for him and he expresses beautifully - I believe this is how every musician wants to feel and play, and he's only a child!
A brilliant performance of a brilliant piece! The piano was a little difficult to hear sometimes. The trills are flawless.
I want to see the third movement!!! The third movement is probably my favorite (the first cadenza!).
Please perform another Mozart piano concerto! (I love many of them.. 5, 15, 16, 21, 23 You interpretations are very interesting..) I'll fly over to Zug and we can play Cto. 10 :)
Very well done. One of my favorites (Check out the 1964 Rudolf Serkin/Geo. Szell/Columbia Symphony recording for absolute mastery) After all, its the music, not the system that matters.
I enjoy how he plays this song. Amazingly, he plays relaxed and on a professional level. The talent and technique are both there. Every note is crisp and can be heard. Amazing performance. The only complaint I have is that the solo part at times was too soft to be heard.
Wasted our childhoods??? You really think that? Now let me ask you what is childhood for? I'm not sure he was give the possibility to be a real child and that was the price to become a professional at such a young stage of age.
2. The kids (and their parents) from the far east, especially China, are definitely better trained and MOTIVATED than the european children. They attend special schools, practice 6-7 hours a day, whereas the kids from most of the other countries attend normal schools and (unfortunately?) do not have the time to invest so much; on the other hand they can enjoy their childhood!
2. cont. Which system is better is indeed questionable. It would be interesting to analyze why there are e.g. only few "world-class" ADULT chinese pianists. One possible explanation is that most of the prodigy pianists do not *really* understand the music, but are only very well trained to pretend that they do understand? When the teacher is away to train yet another prodigy, the dream is lost!
I feel so depressed when i look at your comment about Chinese musician...How can you said that those chinese musician really didn't enjoy the music they made? You are so inmature and foolish.
man this is beautiful, his clarity & subtlety is astonishingly awesome :) :)

Wasted our childhoods??? You really think that? Now let me ask you what is childhood for? I'm not sure he was give the possibility to be a real child and that was the price to become a professional at such a young stage of age.

Well, probably you are right.
Following facts should be considered:
1. Girls are normally more mature than boys :-)

When the teacher is away to train yet another prodigy, the dream is lost!

actually, i disagree with you.
china forces its talented kids to play the instrument
so actually, even though chinese are well trained, and are possibly better technically-wise than europeans,
the fiery passion for the instrument is simply not there because they do not enjoy the instrument as much.
even yo-yo ma, a great chinese cellist, wasn't born in china. he came from france.

I feel so depressed when i look at your comment about Chinese musician...How can you said that those chinese musician really didn't enjoy the music they made? You are so inmature and foolish.
