  • these poeple are good

  • @minisquash01 got it right. No double dots for glass courts.

But remember guys that the ball tend to be less bouncier when it's used. Proffesional players have this always in their minds.

Anyway, we miss you jhonny white, you are always in exhibition mode.

  • Is anyone else intensely irritated by this commentator?

  • this was one of the best matches of the squash, intes¿nse and great playing from both players and with a lot of humor

  • lovin powers headband

  • Has anyone noticed how the commentator is high?

  • Squash is a great game, but not great for watching on TV. Tennis is much better for viewing on TV. Speaking of tennis, I got Mats Wilander's autograph. He was super nice.

  • Looooool.... at 5:24 "He got it up....Incredible"

  • Great game.

  • god the commentators laugh is so retarded

  • Do most mens tourney matches go to 15? as opposed to 11.

  • Why a let at 3:32

  • @drdentz @duchco23 what actually happens is that as ball is hit by the racket it is deformed, increasing the pressure inside the ball which in turn increases the temperature. the ball also undergoes elastic deformation which in the case of a polymer also results in an increase in temperature. the increase in temperature of the ball increases its ability to store and release energy, (its coefficent of restitution) and makes it more bouncy. @jbesclapez you're talking out of your arse :)

  • So easy to play off the back wall with these new racquet's. I played in the era of wooden ones and it wasnt quite as easy to hit it off the back wall as it is now.

  • freeze at 1:27, what if power wanted to go cross court from this position, he would have hit the ball up his bum, in this incident can you call a stroke? pls reply

  • squash is definitely not better than tennis. each sport has its own great characteristics. i would have to say that tennis is more complicated though. you actually have to deal with different spins on the ball in tennis; wind is a factor; different surfaces and then, on those surfaces, there are sometimes bad bounces (something Safin complained about at Wimbledon); first serves have a high-learning curve, although taller people have an advantage.

i love squash just as much though :)

  • Thats got to be the most annoying laughter ever.

  • 1:38 john has beaten me with that very shot. it feels downright embarrassing

  • @jcprs69 Do you agree that squash suffers in comparison to tennis for four basic things:

    1) Women in general prefer tennis due to the socializing aspect of tennis relative to squash.

    2) Tennis is played mostly outdoors where squash is played almost exclusively indoors. People want to be outside as much as possible.

    3) Tennis is better for viewing on TV than squash.

    4) As people get older, doubles tennis is prefered more than singles. Squash doubles isn't all that great to play.

  • 1:37 holy shit, i remember seeing that on a dvd

  • how come they dont wear goggles?

  • @snotnose2000 Good players don't ever hit each other with the ball or racquets as they are more aware of their surrounding and the whereabouts of their opponent.

If however, you are new to the game of squash and playing with someone else who is also new to the game, I would highly highly prescribe the use of goggles if you like your eyes.

  • white is a hacker thats why its bouncin so much

  • Some unbelievable points here! These guys are just so so fit...

  • Comment removed

  • i searched white power and i got this :P

  • @ps3animalfunds not funny..

  • @stefanjoseph900 lol i was going to troll racists but ok

  • ich warte nur drauf dass einer den ball voll in die eier bekommt *g*

  • @drdentz the white ball is a 1 dot ball. Because the glass courts don't bounce as much

  • Terrific squash.

As for tennis vs squash, squash requires much greater physical fitness, while I think it also is more demanding on mental thoughness because the tempo of the game is much higer so decision making is tougher.

I think tennis appeals to more people because it's easier to understand and follow on TV. However, pro squash is now experimenting with abandoning lets from the game. Should be interesting.

  • Even though it ended 3-0, this was an incredible match

  • squash rules

(I really like the comments with this strange laughing: "A-ha ha ha!")

  • alan thatcher is the worst commentator on earth. Its like having one of those stupid toy heads that makes a false laugh all the time. Alan - please retire.

  • @willbarnett disagree, I loved the commentary

  • incredible squash -- wow...

  • Man, It's like the commentator smoked some weed.. ;)

  • Exhibition? It looks like it!

  • White is my favorite player. Is this an exhibition match - its seems really relaxed.

  • @mrbobevans this is the super series 2003. Only the 8 top ranked players of the world are invited. There are no world ranking points. Just the honour to play that event... oh, and possibly a cheque ;)

  • I just got started in the game of squash, and it has totally captivated me. I just found out about Jonathan Power Squash Academy in Massachussetts. I would love to visit there and see what the event is like. I think everyone should Google this.

  • john white's corkscrew shots at 1:24 and 1:28, to play them the way he did during game play and for the ball to bounce off the side wall perpendicularly, its amazing.

  • Squash is the best sport of all time. Tennis is a better spectator sport, though.

  • The laugh of the commentator at the start... that's some creepy shit.

  • Best sport of all time - and that is coming from a tennis player.

  • i dont think tennis is even the best sport of all time (and im a tennis player too)

football is (not US not aussie or other version)

  • Its hard to judge different sports because they have different requirements. Soccer(or football, whichever one you prefer) and Tennis are played differently, so you can't make a comparative nomination as to which one's a "better sport". It all comes down to personal liking and what aspects of a certain sport one enjoys the most.

  • commentator:haha unbelieveble stuff, i'm smoking right now..

  • it should be one with one yellow dot. this is the official tournament ball...

  • @lambock

i'm sorry but the official tournament ball is the two yellow dots

  • No, the official tournament ball is one yellow dot.

  • Does anybody know with which kind of ball they're playing? The one with the two yellow dots? Because it looks like it is really bouncy ...

  • yes, the ball is like the 2dots dunlop. because they hit it really hard and the rallies are also long, it bounces like for ex. blue or red dot ball, when played by non pros...

  • @duchco23 It's not? It is the white glass ball with 1 dot. I have myself played on a glasscourt

  • @duchco23

Incorrect! Its a specially developed ball for TV coverage

  • @dekdoe77 Incorrect! Its a double dotted ball but its white so its easier for tv coverage.

  • @duchco23 So pros use a white ball on a glass court so the cameras have an easier time picking the ball up. The ball is slower than the 2dot Dunlop however due to the impact speed of the raquet on ball it heats up a ton and therefore bounces more. If they were to use a typical 2 dot or faster (like red/blue) it would be way to bouncy and they could get to every shot. Amazing to watch...

  • @kmacmillen Not excactly. I played more than 10 matches at glas court. The white ball is nearly the same as 2dot yellow. Believe me. Ah how does it bounce, it depends mostly from WHO plays and WHAT is the temperature on court. At this tournament it was 7-9 C, as i know.

  • @duchco23 Yes it is nearly the same - slightly slower. And it definitely does depend on who is whacking the ball and how warm the court is. As pros got better the game had to adapt to make it more difficult to chase the ball down - slower ball, lower tin. Ducho23 if you played on a glass court with the tv ball - did you play in some pro tournaments? If you did that's fantastic - squash at that level is unbelievably hard.

  • @drdentz:

yes, it's the same kind than a two yellow dots.

And the ball is very bouncy because very hot !!!

  • @drdentz when you hit the ball i get warms en with them i gets really warm with the heat the ball bounces more , they play with a white ball , because its best visible in glas court

  • @drdentz also remember that it will depend on the court temp too - whether it was summer/winter, what part of the country or world they were in!

  • @drdentz The longer the ball is in play the more "warmed up" it gets, and they hit it really hard.

  • @drdentz

    Wrong answer duchco23 :-)

It is right the ball bounces more because they are profesionnal players and has you can see the match is shown on TV. So they need powerfull spotlights above them to light up the court. Those spotlights heat the air and therefore it warms up the ball more... it makes it more bouncy...

  • @jbesclapez As i know, the temperature on around this court was 7-9 C..

  • @duchco23, 7-9 Celsius degrees?! It's damn cold! Making Dunlop pro playable in this temperature is almost impossible! Ball should freeze! :D

To warm up a ball You need to hit hard and ith a proper pace, without break, but court temperature must be a "little bit" higher than damn 9C! I'm not pro, but temp on court should be like 15-21C.

  • @duchco23 they'll use the equivalent of 2 yellow, but because they're pro, the ball will be so hot, it'll act like a bouncier ball!

  • @duchco23 7-9 C basically really cold then..... doesnt sound right to me

  • @jbesclapez , haha, that's why pros are running so fast - floor is damn hot! And after a match staff members can make scrambled eggs on the floor :p

    If it wasn't a joke - i didn't get it :D

    Cheers :D

  • @drdentz They're using a white single-dot ball (I got thrown one when watching the Superseries at Queens last year, and the referee confirmed to me). The pros use the single dots on glass courts as the glass takes some of the power out - although you wouldn't think that watching this game! On normal courts, it would be a double-dot.

  • @drdentz its the fact the ball gets so hot. i remember when i played county, you would use the ball from the match before, and i could barely keep the ball in the court...

  • @drdentz 2 yellow dots. it appears bounchy because they keep teh ball so hot from hitting it so hard

  • White Power? ehehe, oh squash

  • ok snowie123 if you could do that every time then there would be no rallies

it is not possible to hit a rolling nick everytime

  • John White is always leaning over after long points. He reminds of how Sampras would get tired. Both players are legends.

  • I am..

  • whos the best at squash at the moment??

  • gregory gaultier iis number 1 in the mens at the moment.

and nicol david is number 1 in the womens.

  • I don't know about the womens but Ramy Ashour is the mens number 1 and Nick Mathew is second.

  • and the obvious advantage of covering more court in less steps..

  • I want to buy those superseries 2003 videos put squashlive has prices that go to three figures : |

  • i'd hate to be the camera man behind the wall, sure you'd get used to the bang of the ball after a while, but it would still be so freaky having these 2 people smashing a ball in your general direction o.O

  • Great squash. The ref makes some real clangers!

  • Some hardcore stuff, just had a game with my dad for the first time in ages - looking for some maouvers!

I didn't even know you could smack it off the back wall... very useful tip for recieving the backhand serve (as my back hand is crap)!

  • Lmao...the back wall shot is not a good one to play, it looks cool but your basically saying 'im now trouble', if your fast enuf then i can work but few people are.

  • boast off the back wall arent that great as most of the time they jsut set up any easy shot for your opponent

but can be fun to play once in a while to trick your opponent if you do it right

  • 1. squash is the seconds hardest physical sport in the game after water polo

2.tennis and squash about the same amount of racket skills tennis maybe a bit more

    3. badminton is the fastest rackets sport but physically not as hard

    i like all 3 sports

  • Forbes ranked squash as the top sport for overall conditioning. I believe there were five different sorts of criteria.

I am a 45 yr. old tennis player. Always my biggest concern is tennis elbow. I read that 50% of tennis players will suffer tennis elbow. I also read that squash does not have the tennis elbow issues that tennis does. Apparently, there is a greater impact on the elbow in tennis. This issue is an advantage squash should market in regards to competing with tennis.

  • @tubelog125468

badminton is more intense because of the speed bursts. it is less physically demanding than before because of the scoring change, though it can be argued it is still as intense as squash. tennis is a joke and federer is a compatriot

  • I WAS THERE!

    watched this very game

  • An Aussie against a Canadian. Awesome.

  • How come White always looks like he is fatigued. Kind of reminds of Pistol Pete Sampras in some of his matches. Pete had a condition called Thessalia Minor that effected his energy.

  • power es mi idolo

squash from the olimpic games 2020!!!!

  • White should have been a tennis player. His movement is more similar to a tennis player. Also, his body physique is more tennis. He does look like Nicolas Cage.

Power definitely picked the right sport. His physique and movement would definitely not be suited to tennis.

  • y would u play a crap sport like tennis wen u could be good at squash then ? tennis requires zero skill comapred with squash 0 skill and 0 movement as well and 0 fintness compared with squash

  • Well, pro tennis players make 10 X more money than pro squash players. Is that good reason. And tennis is best played outdoors where squash is indoors.

My point was that White would have been a hell of a tennis player. His height, physique and movement would have made him very suitable for the game. Shame he didn't do tennis.

As a tennis player, there is skill in tennis. Each stroke, the serve, volley, overhead, forehand, and backhand is difficult to control and master.

  • This just makes you sound dumb. You need to be fit and have skill and have movement all at a professional level to be sucessful in the tennis world. Look at Federer

  • because squash players make no money compared to tennis players. You cant compare fitness because tennis is outside in the heat which plays a major factor. DONT COMPARE DIFFERENT SPORTS ITS NOT POSSIBLE

  • Squash > Tennis in every single way apart from the money making side of things and being able to be out side and get a tan but apart from that squash is far superior!

  • why is it superior? just give me a reason that isnt biased. There is lots of movement, lots of skill and lots of fitness in both.

  • 1. u need ALOT more cardio vasular and lactic acid fitness in squash than any other sport in teh world, they have proved that squash makes u fitter than any other sport in the world, rowing coming a close 2nd then cycling coming a distant 3rd.

    2. the amount of racket skills required is greater than tennis cos its so much harder to win the rallies so the shots have to be that much better,

    3. the mental strengh required is also higher becuase its the fastest racket sport there is

  • 1. yes squash requires much more stamina because the rallies are longer than any other sport in the world. however, you cannot compare squash to other sports because every sport is difficult in its own way.

    2. how does winning the rally equate to the amount of racket skills required?! tennis has topspin, slice, flat shots, volleys and serving. all of which require different techniques. don't assume squash is superior.

    3. have you seen badminton or table tennis? they are WAY faster.

  • 1. dam right squash requires the most stamina, im not comparing it there is no comparison cos its far superior

    2. as if there is any where near as many racket skills in tennis squash is on a hole nother level

    3. i play Table tennis as we ll at a high lvl and squash is faster, and badminton the first .5 of a second where the shuttle comes off the racket its faster but the speed in which it slows down makes it no where near as fast in the long run

    SQUASH>TENNIS>UR FACE

  • 1. squash requires less stamina then lond distance cycling. If you find me an article and post it then I will believe u.

    2. Racket skills are different in every sport Hingisfan is right. I mean take table tennis for instance, There are two different ways to hold the paddle and they are completely different.

    3. Badminton is the fastest racket sport in the world and have you watched squash look how high the ball bounces. They get the ball so hot it gives them lots of time to react.

    U lose

  • the ball bounces high reason being they wanna give themself more time to move back to the T. if they want to, they can slam the ball hard anytime they want to.

in badminton, u can only smash the ball if the shuttle court is high up. so basically if i dont do lobs in badminton, hw are u going to smash the ball?

however in squash each players can drive the ball so darn hard and fast every round.. which makes the game pace incredibly fast.

  • squash has the mental side of it which no other racket sport does in most other racket sports in most racket sports its simple choice as to where in the court you are going to hit ie short or long and which side of the court and most of the time this is dictated by where the players are standing in squash you have a multitude of option as to how and whereu are going to hit (lobs, rails/drives, dropshots ,etc) to try and move and control your opponent

  • table tennis is fast i agree.. however if tecnically if ur fast enough(very fast), u can pick up the smashes. however, in squash u can do a killer ball every single time if ur SKILLED enough by doing a rolling nick every single time.

  • noone can do a rolling nick every single time... its pure luck

  • Oh crap, Its like watching two B level racquetball player in a spirited game of "Pat-A-Cake". Stamina is required to overcome the boredom.

  • @BarronBOB Why can't squash be played outdoors. There is no ceiling in squash. You would just need to lay some sort of surface down, and put up four concrete walls. Squash would grow exponentially in my city if there were outdoor squash courts in the public parks.

  • @BarronBOB Based on??? I like both sports a great deal, but there is no fair comparison between the 2 sports. Its quite obvious that there are way more tennis players, so i would figure thats the sport thats being played at the highest level out of the 2.

  • @Stuffcakes So checkers is played at a higher level than chess?

  • @guiguox Always fun to take a comparison to the extreme and then use the result as an argument in a discussion. You must be a rocket scientist.

  • @Stuffcakes . Unfortunately, I'm not. You must be a tennis player. Take it easy.

  • @guiguox Quit tennis, i play squash. I find it way more fun. Yet, i dont see how you can compare the 2 sports. If any, it would seem more logical to me that tennis is being played at a higher level.

  • @Stuffcakes . If you mean that in tennis there is a stronger selection (since more players are involved) I do agree. What I was saying is that squash is Chess. Tennis is Checkers and the fact that there's a higher competition (and so selection) add no points to that sport (tennis), IMHO.

  • @Stuffcakes Tennis is way better for watching on TV than squash. Hard to explain why but the tennis court being bigger and usually played outdoors may be the reason.

  • @BarronBOB I have to agree about your assessment on squash being better than tennis. Playing outdoors is a big advantage for tennis, especially when the weather is nice in my city (Mid March thru early Nov) and the ability to play free in the parks. People want to be outside. Is squash played outside in other countries. To me, squash should be played outdoors as there is no roof to deal with. Also, are there any pro tournaments outdoors.

  • @BarronBOB The being outside thing is huge. I love tennis and love playing the sport outdoors. Indoors tennis has never done much for me.

The thing I do not understand about squash is why they don't construct outdoor squash courts. The sport does not use a ceiling like racquetball. I hear that constructing a squash court is more expensive than the cost of the hard-tru tennis court. Nevertheless, the sport will not grow until squash courts are available in the public parks.

  • @BarronBOB o ya got to love those farmer tans

  • @BarronBOB At the moment i agree with you. Ask me 20 years from now when my knees give out and my heart can't keep up, then I may change my mind. As the saying goes, you don't play squash to get fit, you've got to be fit to play squash.

  • @BarronBOB I agree 100%. I can say that with confidence because I'm a squash player but I've also played tennis. Squash is far more intense, it's faster, and way more entertaining. Not only that, but if the ball goes out of play you don't have to chase after it off the court lol. And, according to some studies they say that squash is the most beneficial sport to play for your cardiovascular system. There's virtually no down side to squash... minus getting a racket to the face lol.

  • @Cxaxakluth the start and stop motion is hard on ur knees

  • @Cxaxakluth and the high rate of knee injuries/heart attacks ;)

  • @BarronBOB wtf lolol how?

  • actualy there is nothing wrong with white's build for squash. being tall in squash gives you a huge advantage and allows you to hit the ball harder and faster which allows you to dominate

  • yeh but tall players also use more energy to bend for drops and they are not quite as smooth movers...but there is no specific build for squash, almost anything works

  • yeah pretty much ;)

  • Who was #1 at the time?

  • White has a serve and volley mentality to his game.

  • where the heck is the ball?

  • what the fuck? how do you score points in this game?

  • ball needs to bounce twice on the floor or go out of the playing area in short.

  • ridiculous rallies!!!

  • Amazing sport...

  • Whites the man

  • ball was good, pity about his attitude

  • yes that is correct :) and also the red ball is used by beginners because it bounces more. The pros also use a double yellow white ball but there is no dfference.

  • also from what i was told the only reason why the pros use a white ball is because it is easier for the camera to follow it when the event is televised. other than that there is no difference.

  • I have been playing squash a few times a week for 2 years now.

The reason why this ball is bouncing so much is because as you play an intense game of squash the ball heats up a lot, and this causes the rubber to bounce liek crazy. Just like how a cold ball barely bounces at all. I use a double yellow dot ball, and in my leagues that is the only ball permeitted. I believe since the early 2000's that rule applies for the pro's as well in order to shorten the raly times.

  • while you train, just use the black one dotted ball. excuse my english its not my 1st lang. hitting the ball hard much it makes the ball bounce like this.

  • I just started squash recently and playing with a red ball. It doesn't seem anywhere near as bouncy as the ones that these guys are using... is that normal or?..

  • When you start to rally a bit with your playing partner or if you are just hiting drlls yourself you'll find the ball gets warm and bounces much more than when its still cold.

  • vaya

    wowo

    power es el mejor

es mejor que amr shabana y que gregory gaultier

  • THis game looks fun. It's definetley more organized then racketball. I like how the volleys are longer and things aren't as random or chaotic like racketball.

  • that's because racketball doesn't exist. it's a made up sport played in american movies.

  • and hundreds of YMCA's all over america. lol every YMCA i have been too has at least 4 or more racketball courts. No squash though.

  • it may not exist after Jahangir Khan made a mockery of it but Racquets predates squash as squash was created from a mix of tennis and racquets - as per wiki

But dont take my word for it. wiki it.

  • POWEER

  • checkout my squash rally vids (in HD)

  • Power is such a ROCKSTAR!

  • could anyone plz temme how the rally ends at 5:41 .... :s

  • power won that point. The last shot (from white) dind´t touch front wall...

  • John White's shot doesn't reach the front wall... I think it's the way the camera shows it. Great rally though!!

  • whats a good way of warming the ball up? cos the way these guys are hitting the ball at such amazing speed seems to me they have really warmed that ball up. any tips?

  • Another way of warming the ball up is to put it on the floor and roll it underneath your foot. If you use enough pressure the ball will warm up.

  • put it under warm water..it warms up quick and doesn't die as much

  • the commentator is so creepy when he laughs lol

  • this really is one awesome sport

  • who does the commentary of this match?

  • Im a superduper amateur... I havn't seen any pro's before and this is just f..king crazy.. how the hell can these guys look so relaxed.. I run like hell in there have a minor hart attack every time i play... but I love This sport.. :D

  • 0:44 - how the hell did he get the ball back there by just bouncing it to the glass with just a tap!?

  • cause the ball is really hot cause they hit it so hard

  • yes exactly the ball is very hot and if you are playing ball from down to nose-up on the glass it is not so hard to play this ball...

  • whay arnt they wearing glasses??

  • white power is an easy joke

  • WOW, this looks so easy when they are playing. I'm training squash for four months and I have to hit the ball with such force in order to make it travel from the back-wall to the front-wall, and White does it with such ease. :-)

  • it always looks easier

    and their so fuckin tall

  • I totally know what you mean. I think he is hitting it really high up on the back wall becuase it travels really slowly.

  • its all to do with the grip and wrist

im 13, 4ft 5 and can hit it from the service box to make it travel from the back-wall to the front-wall with ease

  • now i'm wondering... was it a exhibition match?

  • nope its the superseries finals group stages... but then every john white match is like an exhibition :)

  • ahh that was meant to be a reply to sum1 asking is it an exhibition lol

  • well i got the message:-p

but you're damn right, John White is such an entertainer

  • Is this an exhibition match?

  • now how much different is squash and racquet ball?

  • i swear this court is about 3x smaller than the ones i play in.

  • not really, this is standard
