I love American made full size SUVs. I love the Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT that my parents drive. It may not be that big like full size SUVs, but I love it. It's like this: Regular Trailblazer = Rival of the Ford Explorer. Trailblazer EXT (which my parents have), smaller version of the Chevrolet Tahoe/ Suburban, GMC Yukon/Denali, Cadillac Escalade, and the Hummer H2.
I drive a big ole truck but unlike what this vid is like I actually use my 4x4 all year long. My dodge cummins is lifted 6in with 35in tires I still get 17mpg.

Most SUV are based off an existing truck platform. Chevolet Tahoe is built from the Silverado frame, Ford Expedition share the same platform as the F-150, and Nissan Armada and Titan share the same engine.
My question is why only target large SUVs? What about trucks and large vans that get the same mpg as SUVs?
Thanks for your comment about my film. The reason I focus only on large SUV's is that most people who choose to drive them don't really need them. I have no problem with people who need a large SUV and from what I see people who drive full size trucks and vans actually use them for hauling or off roading.

A professor of mine did the math once: # of SUV's vs. # of cars. Compare gas Avgs. Find amount of gas supply without SUV's. Take that number and refigure back into the market, and gasoline costs less than $1.50 again. So who's paying for the gas SUV's guzzle?? Most SUV are based off an existing truck platform. Chevolet Tahoe is built from the Silverado frame, Ford Expedition share the same platform as the F-150, and Nissan Armada and Titan share the same engine.
My question is why only target large SUVs? What about trucks and large vans that get the same mpg as SUVs?

I have no problem with people who need a large SUV and from what I see people who drive full size trucks and vans actually use them for hauling or off roading.

The only difference between most SUVs of the 21st century and the Galaxy 500 of the 1970s are the dimensions. You can't laugh at someone driving a Galaxy 500 and then think you look like a stud in vehicle that uses as much metal.
The only good thing about the high gas prices is it finally is ending the stupidity of SUVs where it was better to look good than to be practical.

Fries&shake drive in,car hops, etc. It lasted until SUV's showed up along with drive thrus, mcdonalds, walmart, etc. Why do these monsters have to ruin the little good left in america? I'm not a fan of the SUV, but this cartoon fails to point out the REAL reason why people purchase SUVs. After the mid 1980's, you could no longer buy a luxury car and claim it as part of your business expenses for tax purposes. However, you could purchase a vehicle that weighs more than 6,000 pounds and get tax breaks. Our government rewards people for buying SUVs by giving them tax breaks. But, it may not be enough to offset the cost of gas when it reaches $5 a gallon.

A professor of mine did the math once: # of SUV's vs. # of cars. Compare gas Avgs. Find amount of gas supply without SUV's. Take that number and refigure back into the market, and gasoline costs less than $1.50 again. So who's paying for the gas SUV's guzzle?? The rich assholes themselves or every automobile driving american? Yuppies would rather you not see it that way.

Matthew Simmons (former advisor to Bush) has been spreading the word about peak oil at Bush's request. Politicians won't even discuss peak oil because it = conservation which is a 4 letter word for a politician. Rosco Bartlett has done several special order speeches on peak oil in the House of Representatives. Almost none of the congressman even show up for it!
