We lived in Sunnyvale in '73-74 . I remember walking home from school and seeing test shots . What always amazed me was no matter how far away you were when it took off eventually it would be straight up above you , or at least appear to be .

I remember seeing cattle on the hillsides for AC-143/TERRA

but I did not think of looking for their reaction........

I'm sure that seeing this on video does no justice to the fury of the actual sound - you had to have felt, not just heard, those shock waves made by the blast column or streak.

It was pretty intense and yes the video doesn't do justice to the sound. The sound sort of permeated all around echoing off everything in sight including the cows who you can hear screaming in the background before I turned the audio down.
