  • Thank you so much for sharing this - I love Larry and his tenure on the Generation Game was must-see televsion. A sweet, gentle and kind soul with so much warmth and mischief and fun. Thank you :)

  • Echoing other comments....remember Brucie as being brilliant but Larry was a very clever entertainer, a gentle soul who made a lot of people laugh, to such effect we still recognise and praise his talents now.....much missed!

  • That last comment really got me!! Ha Ha ha ha ha!!!

  • Larry always took part in the games most of which he wasn't all that good at. More to just encourage the contestants to have a go.

  • hartley hare.. yehjthere are only a few pipkins vids on here but i totally get the likness thingy

  • This made me laugh!! He always reminds me of Hartley Hare in Pipkins, great days!!

  • @Feisty1967

I've never noticed that before, but you're right

    :O)

  • i have to be honest he made me laugh but isla was the most naturally beautiful woman on tv stunning

  • mmmm isla..

  • His warmth and love of people always shone through, a genuinely kind man and extremely funny - absolutely suited to the Generation Game.

  • LOL - I'm going to Hammamet in a couple of weeks!! What a wonderful performer. I adored Larry as a kid and still find him hilarious.

  • I remember watching Larry dancing to Night Fever about 30 years ago, great fun. Thanks for posting.

  • I remember this being on the TV :)

  • absolutely bloody great Larry you rock xx

  • Larry Grayson. Genius!

  • 'Everard' Brilliant...

  • He was absolutely hilarious. The Generation Game was never as funny after he left. He came across as gay with his 'seems like a nice boy' comments and the audience loved it. Greatly missed.

  • even when his materials crap....hes just so damn funny....

  • I loved Larry Grayson when I was a lad. All his stories about his friend Everard (it took me 30 years to get that joke) and Slack Alice, etc. You knew the stories were naughty but they were never offensive. Greatly missed.

  • Great tribute to a comic genius. Tremendous timing and delivery, hilarious asides....truly great comedy will never die.

  • It's all about the timing

  • Class!!!!! What a funny man. I saddly miss him

  • Don't forget a 3 DVD set of Larry's time at ITV is released tomorrow 22nd June 2009!

Now we need the BBC to release this documentary along with some classic 'Generation Game' episodes!

  • this man is so funny his facial expressions were brilliant rip larry grayson

  • I live in Japan, and there's no bloody central heating. Girlfriend must have been born in a damn barn. "SHUT THAT DOOR, LOVE."

    Wise words.

  • I adored Larry as a kid. I grew up on The Generation Game - he was the best presenter (much as I loved Brucie too).

  • Came out of nowhere (stoppit) to replace the irreplaceable Brucie on the Gen Game, and confounded everybody by taking the show to unprecedented new heights.

    Comedy master.

    RIP

  • thank u classic comedy

  • larry faced hostile crowds in a lot of places when he was doing the theatre,s in the 70,s. i was working at the theatre and it was failry common for a fair few people to walk out in the middle of his act saying things like "disgusting" "queer bastard" a even child molester being shouted out, he really got the audiance going about 75 percent were laughing and the rest wanted to spit in his face, homos back in the 70s were hated by a large amount of the population

  • The disco dancing bit is very funny! He was a nifty mover.

  • He's anybody's, look at the muck in here, seems like a nice boy, what a gay day, shut that door, riff raff, Ooooh I can't stand feet.

All great throw-aways, along with winks to the audience, raised eyebrow to the camera, the dismissive turn of the head.

"Slack Alice - shes mad about the big dipper.... she's not alone". Classic timing.

Top man, sadly missed. He actually took the Generation Game to new rating heights that even Brucie didn't achieve.

  • DODDY! I saw Doddy!!

  • My mum & gran loved Larry.

  • absolutely loved this fella growing up in the 70s his expressions tells it all long live larry u wont be forgotten

  • I watch this every day. Fantastic!!! There's so much Hancock, Kenneth Williams, Frankie Howerd etc .... Why so little of Larry, Slack, Everard etc

  • They should have a Larry Grayon DVD tribute,it would be a best seller!

  • No comedian has ever made me laugh so much. Thanks Larry.

  • continued..He was a kind and very clever person who got to the top the hard way and I think in this day he would look down at us and let the millions who love him pay tribute in anyway they see fit.Obviously his nearest and dearest family would know what he would want and we should all abide by their wishes..Lots of love Larry you were unique and kindness itself something we all often fall short of..alan and family.

  • I was lucky enough to find his grave last week and it was very sad to see it looking neglected.I will not devulge where he is as I beleive it is a family wish not to disclose its whereabouts but would he today let idiotic comments come between him and all who loved him.

  • i wud love to no where he is as wudnt mind goin to c him

  • Sadly missed but fondly remembered a very funny man. God bless you Lal and when I arrive through the gates of heaven I hope you're there to shout "shut that door" for me!

  • Thank you from a member of Larry's family

  • It was just plain old entertainment in simpler times. You just can't replace Larry Grayson; he was a gentleman and is a much missed entertainer

  • i agree-grayson was a caring guy...and able to laugh at himself-brian dowling would do well to study him...

  • A GENTLE MAN

  • Larry Grayson..will allways be remembered in Nuneaton

  • Oooo Everard!!!!

  • larry came from my home town of nuneaton.he was a true great.loved him on the generation game

  • Wonderful memories there with the late, great Larry Grayson. A very clever man and I believe a very caring man, both for his peers and his public. Lovely too, to see the vivacious and wonderfully talented Isla St. Clair, they were a fabulous team. How I wish more material like this was available commercially.

  • Another excellent clip.

    Please keep them coming.
