hi. i have a nephew has a HSP.. he was 6yrs. old. he has abdominal pain and vomiting w/ a little blood is this normal for a person having a HSP? is there any way i can help my nephew? how long it will take HSP to heal? is my nephew need a treatment for this kind of disease? please give me some advice. thanks.

@toffee2580 Abdominal pain is common for patient with HSP, im not sure though abt the presence of blood. Your nephew needs to see the doctor, my daughter needs to take steroids because her HSP kept on coming back.

me I detected the disease after 4 days of its on set. At first I thought

it is just simply an allergy but after I manifested abdominal pain I decided to go to doctor then she diagnose me of henoch schonlien purpura and instructed me to avoid or limit my intake of sodium and avoid process food. now im eating foods rich in vitamin c and e coz it reduces capillary permeability and it can help your body from recovering in hsp..

My 16 year old had HSP Feb 7 2011 & it got worst . But this time they are doing chemotherapy . And it working but the first time the drs said it wouldn't comeback but It Did .... Her drs don't know what to do .... HELP!!!!!!

My daughter has been taking prednisone for more than a year now, she has been tapered to 5mg every other day and has started taking hypace every night.

I had it in my first year of elementary school but due to the hospitalizations and the pain I was barely at school.. Now I'm all ok, so everybody: be strong and never lose the hope!

My daughter has been diagnosed with HSP october of 2009 and eversince then she has been under steroid treatment. It was very difficult for me to see my daughter very helpless during it's attack. Severe abdominal pain, hematuria, painful joints. In retrospect, we were oblivious as to the reason why everytime she gets a fever, she wants her hands, legs and feet be massaged and almost always accompanied with stomach pain. I am worried about the effect of the long term steroid treatment

hi ive been diagnosed to have hsp and im also taking steroids..

does this medication really help cause as what ive notice hsp is a self limiting disease and its usually cure or dissappear without any treatment..

what activities your daugther did before getting this disease?..

@babemine1013 Steroids, as far as I know, controls the attacks of hsp. Accdg. to online infos it's self-limiting but for uncontrolled cases, it can damage other parts of the body too. My daughter's kidneys were affected.Regarding activities, nothing peculiar abt her. I'm really oblivious about this disorder, and if there is a Society for HSP, I would have gladly joined to find out more about this

Now im taking imuran to prevent kidney damage..

now, ive identify some foods which I believe triggers hsp and I eliminate those foods in my diet.

me too, I need some one to talk to regarding this condition. Does the hsp of your daugther keeps on reoccuring?..

@babemine1013 It did, maybe since 2 yrs old she has been showing signs but we dunno yet at that time. Every year we were at the hospital, thinking it was UTI. But after she was diagnosed 2 yrs ago, under steroids and the omegablock, it has never recurred. If by next month's blood works shows stability, she can stop taking the steroids all together accdg to her dr.

my daughter has this right now- shes had numerous relapses! hers looks much different than your sons..... but i have seen photos a lot of ppl's are different in appearance.. cute kid!!!! great video!

I had HSP when I was 4 years too, I was very bad with it. I had to go round it a wheelchair and none of my clothes fitted from the swelling.

I had hsp when I was 11 it lasted for a year I could hardly walk sometimes, I was in a wheel chair when it got really bad.

i was diagnosed of hsp!!!! and i think im gonna die! i was 23 years old by then, but now im 24..and im scraed that itll came back......dont want the feeling....my kidney hurts and i cant walk......

My 11 year old has been diagnosed with HSP. I believe she will come out of this with no more complications and she will heal immediately!

I got HSP when i was eight, very sucky disease.went dormant when i was 11 then came back when i was 18 and it had turned into the adult version called IgA Nephropathy. i now have scarring on my intestines from the HSP when my large intestine started turning inside out. in most cases it only continues to adulthood for 3% and past that 1/3 go onto dialisis and the other 2/3 either have minor isuues or non at all. but with very little they can do for the disease is very frustrating to say the least
