  • i bought one of these. WORST MOWER EVER

  • I have one of these mowers, but with a 9hp Kawasaki OHV engine, and I'd have to say that it's the second best push mower I've ever used. The caster wheels are what make this machine fantastic. But the self-drive needs to be kept low or else you end up running behind the mower.

And for the record, the very best machine I'd ever used was a 1957 Hahn-Eclipse 25" reel Rolloway Commercial.

  • Yeah, I've seen these Kawasaki 9-hp small-block engines. They're common on John Deere rear engine riders from a few years ago. I didn't know that Ariens offered this engine option on one of their lawn mowers. But, hey, they DID use a Sachs two-stroke for a little while. That was a really odd engine for a push mower, too.

  • Honda GVC engine? Now I know why Ariens copied Snapper's disc drive. They weren't smart enough to make their own SP system.

    It's a Honda GCV engine, y'all.

  • The engine on this mower is actually a Kohler Courage XT7 model.

  • That's right, but the ad for this mower also mentioned a Honda GCV engine as an option. Personally, I'd go with the Honda. The Kohler is too new to know quite how well (or poorly) it will perform as time passes. I'm skeptical. After all, this Kohler is made in China...

  • Which is why I'd rather save my money and just rebuild an outdated mower powered by a long-outdated Briggs & Stratton 92900 or 110900 series engine.
