@neverconnect. Can you vote for a person that doesn't run for candidacy? NO. Also there is a thing called a term that they must serve. Stop being a retard and figure out why they are all old. Because no one else running is better than they are. DIRKA DIR!!!
USA got more youth these days than Europe - then why isn't any of them stopping their self-claimed "bigger and better" country of having this retirement-home-ready people as their leaders and get some decent ones..you really should be smarter by now...please..before it's too late..stop laughing with them as clowns and do something about it..unless you really don't care where your kids will end up..thanks..
this = pure hilarity!!!! It's really F-ing sad to think that 80 yr old geezers like this are representing the US of A, which is supposedly much younger and more democratic than it's ever been...
Hey MtnX... I returned the favor... some politician-worshiper gave you a thumbs down too. It just goes to show how effective t.v. commercials and opinion control is on the growing number of mindless drones in our country. Wish there was a way for us to reverse this trend. cheers.
the problem is not the tubes analogy...if you're really looking for a funny analogy then "series of tubes" is ok...the problem is that the guy using this metaphor is the same guy who authored an internet-related bill in the senate...this would be comparable to a bio teacher telling me that exercise "melts" fat away, it's an ok analogy, but i expect that from a diet pill infomercial and not from a bio teacher
@ waxhax0rs: It's actually a pretty inaccurate analogy, but that isn't the point. The Internet is a series of tubes, yes, and the Earth is a flat disc where you can fall off the rim if you get too close to it... :-)
Ok, it's funny, we get it..... but aren't fiber optic cables really just a series of tubes? sure, it's more of a wire than a pipe- but it's still an understandable analogy.
The analogy was probably presented to Stevens by an intern, which at the time made sense. If you listen to the rest of his talk, and have an understanding of general computing principles, he was so off target and absolutely murdered the analogy. He doesn't have any understanding of the internets.
But what do I know. My personal internet was just delivered yesterday.
dude he is like 70, it is note that fare off from saying [tube/fiber] or [tube filled/network congested], granted it seems like a bad time to ever have him on any technical comity.
Again, pardon? Neither side of the isle is exactly filled with Brilliant thinkers.
Of course, maybe you're one of those people who still think along party lines, in that case, the only thing "typical" here is your delusional thinking.
This is funny, but also very scary. You know why its scary? Because Its solid proof that we have complete morons in charge of everything.

what was the original broadcast date of this episode?

@Itsgotahemi
"On June 28, 2006, he used this metaphor to criticize a proposed amendment to a committee bill"
I think the show followed the next weeks of the date.

Yes, you can vote for someone not seeking candidacy; it's called a WRITE IN. Though, I doubt you know that because you've probably never voted.

Yeah, I said it's funny, but I read a bunch of comments about how it's inaccurate and ted stevens is like, delirious or something.

Fiber optic cable is a cable? Its basicly a cable where the information moves in the form of light.
DarkvindFromIllier 2 years ago
Yeah, but it's like a tube that the light moves through. So, it's a funny analogy, but it does make some logical sense- at least, to me.
N4M3L3SS3NT1TY 2 years ago
Well yea, its at a very very basic sense a tube where information moves through.
DarkvindFromIllier 2 years ago
exactly.
