  • thanks jacky for the info :p

by the what kind of primer you used before prior painting?

    the kit made of vinyl?

    thanks :p

  • really nice,

what kind of paint is that you using? and the needed thinner for the paint?

and what you using to clean the airbrush gun if you gonna switch to other color paint?

  • @steven0seagul

Humbrol enamels paints. White Spirit as thinner, for cleaning always white spirit or nitro or limonene.

    Bye! ^^ Jackie.

  • could you just use spray paint if you're on a budget?

  • I tried painting my 00 raiser but some of the more smaller parts broke when I tried to move them. Any hints so this tragedy won't be repeated?

  • every one knows how to work with this u.u

  • Thanks!

  • What airbrush is that? What do you recommend for someone needed a airbrush + compressor to prime + paint gunpla? Thanks! :)

  • @shadowblack1987

...a cheap model (BD180, Iwata clone), but now We have changed airbrush with a real and supreme IWATA HP-TR1 Revolution series.

Maybe It is too expensive for a beginner...better a Paashe Talon TG-SET or BADGER 100 LG Medium...

For others instruments, we are working on our new web site and when the tutorial section will come back, you'll can see it with the Google translation service from italian language.

Sorry, here only short messages...See You! :)

  • @ZOHtube Thanks, it gives me something to research before purchasing. What kind/size compressor do you recommend? I live in an apartment, it must be small, silence and cheap :)

  • @shadowblack1987

Search on ebay " airbrush compressor " and look the little model silver with air regulator, water trap filter and a black air tank...or similar. ;)

  • @ZOHtube Can you use a regular air compressor?

  • @silvias13ftw

Mini airbrush compressore with 3L tank. Please, look this our video:

Modellismo Gunpla & Co. - New Work Paint Table (banco pittura)

  • so u clearcoat after every coat?

  • after applying your primer and then your base coat do you then panel line then apply the clear coat, or you apply the clear coat and then panel line.

  • @bboyroxR

After need always clear coat as protective.

Before is optional, according to the method used for panel lines.

The clear coat is also useful for the intermediate phases to protect background color.

  • wat paint did u use? enamel? acrylic?

    thanks

  • Enamel Humbrol.

    Bye! ;)

  • hey buddy^_^ whats the title of the song?

  • KURAU Phantom Memory: "Natsukashii Umi " (by Akino Arai).

    Bye! See You! ;)

  • thanks man^_^,... i did failed my first paint attempt^_^

    hehehehe,..

i try to use poster paint then put a top coat to straighten the paint but before i finish the painting the paint was already melting^_^,..

now i need to try other paint^_^,...

  • which one last longer and which do u reccomend i m jus a 14 year old and wat liquid did u add with the paint

  • Each paint has an own thinner. We use Humbrol enamels, but for a beginner is better the acrylic paints (ex. Tamiya) because they are less toxic. Be careful to use these materials, do not follow Youtube videos with short messages, but make a search on google and find a modelling guide with more explanations (sorry my web site is only in Italian language).

  • how much is it

  • Airbrush cost? There are several brands and the very high quality is not cheap (like IWATA). But for the beginner or as test for a short period, you can use an economic type such as this airbrush (BD series) purchased on ebay for about 50 usd.

  • I wanted to know what the PSI is on your air compressor? or what it should be while you airbrush, thank you in advance.

  • I think max 20 PSI for the painting and 10 for light shading. Bye. :)

  • Hi this is so cool!!! what kind of paper do i stick to the parts so that those certain small parts won't get painted?

  • A common Adhesive Paper Tape, otherwise the less cheap Masking Tape for modelling (Tamiya brand). Thx and bye.

  • Oh i see....thnx. and can acrylic paint be used for models? will the paint come off?

  • The acrylic paints are more delicate, so handle with care the masking tape upon them.

For the compressor, it is good with air output 23L/min and max pressure 7 bar (for airbrush it is enough on 1.3 bar).

  • oh yeah i almost forgot to ask...how much horse power should i need for a good compressor?

  • i did this to my strike free dom and took me 2 hours

  • I planning on air-brushing my MG Char's Zaku 2.0 with a crimson red color do I need to use any sealer or top coat after?

  • Yes, at the end always transparent varnish (opaque, glazed or gloss).

  • is there a way to clean the airbrush without the cleaner? can i soak it with thinner and rinse?

  • Clean the airbrush with the thinner of used paints like showed in the video. I don't exactly know other ways...

  • I don't know but my friend said try it with windex, the window cleaner. Just make sure all the windex are cleaned out before reusing, Make sure it us dry.

  • what is it ou poured into the airbrush afterthe paint? I see alot of people do it.

  • For each change of color the airbrush must be clean with specific thinner. We use enamel paint, therefore white spirit (or Nitro) in order to clean.

  • At 1:32 ??

  • Always the thinner, the paint need to be diluted.

  • PLEASE, ONLY SHORT COMMENTS IN TOPIC FOR EACH VIDEO.

    Thanks to all. :)

  • I am jealous, i have like 4 gundams but none have turned out as good I wanted them too, oh well maybe I can get as good as you, thanks for the vids

  • You are welcome! Be patient and You will have your best result! ;)

  • Thanks, I am really good at making gundams, I ink them, sand them, custom paint, etc. Just my main problem is painting, I cant give it the realistic feel

  • For the realistic feel, you should follow the techniques of classic modelling (military tanks, aircraft, soldiers), such as weathering, drybrush and so on...

  • do you know how to do weathering using spray cans or dry brush? if so what products should I use? once again thanks

  • The best weathering is done with oil paint, their thinner and brush. Then, among our videos you can see also a weathering with coffee. Drybrush is another effect. If you search on google with this key words, you will find a lot of advices. ;)

  • ok and last question, when i spray paint my models I always start with primer, is that good? and how do I get the shine out of my models, it makes it looks like plastic (which I rlly dont want, makes them unrealistic)

  • Yes for primer.

Then, each brand of paints (acrylic, enamels or spray cans) has own transparent varnish. You choose the opaque varnish and spray it at the end, so all colors will lose their shine effect. ;)

  • THANKS!!! =)

  • This tutorial was pretty helpful in seeing the processes involved in airbrushing. Thanks for posting it. What type of paint did you use in this video (acrylic, enamel, etc.) and what ratio of paint to thinner did you use?

  • Thanks. In this video We use white and silver enalmel paints and white spirit as thinner.

For the ratio We have answered in a previous message (answer to kabub, now at page 3)...

  • Ok, thanks!

  • Thank You ^__^

  • how much do u bought the airbrush???

  • An airbrush of original brand can be very expensive, but we have bought an Iwata Reply (shown in this video) on ebay for about 40usd and it works very well, above all for the beginning. Then the compressed air is necessary, a good airbrush compressor is the true expense (about 200usd).

  • I use for enamel paints (Humbrol) a common bottle of turpentine, while for acrylic paint (Tamiya) the alcohol. Surely it is always better to use the thinner of the same brand, but it is much more expensive.

  • hi, do u have to coat the parts with anything before painting of do u just paint striaight on?

  • Hi. We use a primer (gray) before the painting. ;)

  • Sorry, translate mistake: no turpentine but white spirit. Bye

  • if i didnt paint my gundam but i only want to apply to black lines. do i have to vanish?

  • It is always preferable to protect the model before and after the panel lines, because if you are wrong and you correct the error without protective varnish the model could remain a bit dirty. However if you want, you can also avoid the transparent varnish and immediately to use the gundam markers. It is an your choice.

  • what's a panel line, protective varnish and transparent varnish. The last two are they like colors or special coating? Please reply thanks

  • In this video the used colors are white and silver Humbrol enamel. At the end, in order to protect the model you can spray a clear color (transparent varnish).

  • Thankyou very much!!! very helpful indeed Thanks again!!

  • and if i do paint with it, some people say to apply a white coat first before adding the color coat

  • Yes, before to paint it is always better to spray the Primer (white or gray).

  • would you suggest painting with gundam markers?

  • Great vid! I'm still having problems with lacquer to thinner ratio. My 2 questions are:

At what psi are you spraying? How close to the part are you spraying?

    Thanks.

  • Sorry, but it is too complicated by to explain in English. However, We use max 1.4 bar (pressure), then it is necessary to make a lot of tests, eventually sprinkling from another part to try the various regulation of airbrush.

    Thanks to You, bye! ;)

  • your videos are very informative

i'm hand brushing my first gunpla and it isn't as fun as it looks. airbrush looks great. are you using an iwata?

    btw, no spray booth? :p

    regards from canada

  • Our airbrush is a good iwata replica, bought on ebay. It works well the same if there is not the necessity of high professionalism.

In the video, we paint inside a great box of cardboard and in the room there is always an open window.

However lately, we has improved the system of ventilation, then we will make another video.

Thanks for your comment. Regards from Italy. :)

  • i really love to make my gundam as detailed as possible, but i just wish i had the time and the equipment+ experience to do this... but thanks for showing me at least how the process is done.

  • You are welcome! Thanks for your comment. ;)

  • how do you know which paints to use/mix to get the right colour? And what should be the ratio of paint to thinner?

  • We have answered in a previous message...

Anyway, after the paint (70%), we put the enamels thinner (30%). Some times it is necessary also 50% of each ones.

You have to make some tries and then You will understand by yourself. Keep in the mind that the correct density is similar to the milk.

For the colors mix, just try drop by drop... ;)

  • after thiner is added to paint cup just cover the tip of the airbrush with a paper tower and use light pressure on the trigger to mix it with bubbles.

  • Yes, it is true. But it's better to mix well the color in his bottle before the usage if it is an enamel arrested by a long time. After the thinner, instead, it is useful to mix just to check the density. ;)

  • What do you call that device, where you put the airbrush into, so that the paint can be emptied out of it?

  • AIRBRUSH CLEANING POT. ;)

  • sry. i am lost here! help. soo we spray primer first on the gundam? and after we paint it with enamels+thinner?

  • Yes! It is right! The primer always before to paint. ;)

  • Great video, thanks. Too bad your website does not have an English language option. What type of primer do you use? How do you apply it? Can you apply it with the airbrush, or does it come from spraycan? Are acrylics or enamels better for Gunpla? I've read elsewhere that enamels "stick" better to Gunpla, and that acrylics may peel easier, specially if you're posing alot. Is this true?

  • We use as primer a common and cheap anti-rust that it can't use in airbrush, but there are others kinds of primer more expensive, for example Tamiya Primer.

We prefer the enamels colors, but it is matter of taste. To try for choose. ;)

By the way it is true that the enamels are much more resistant than acrylics, but if you at the end protect all with an hand of transparent varnish, it is better.

  • whats this song called:)

  • The song is the main theme ("Natsukashii Umi") of the Anime: Kurau Phantom Memory.

If you search on Youtube, you will also find the video of this opening. ;)

  • i currently about to buy a single action air brush from my hobby shop...but i'm worried about it won't work as expected...so is there any thing i should take extra care...and would enamel paint stuff the air bruh up?

  • Please, write us via email:

    zoh(at)zoneofhobbies(point)it

So, we can answer better. Bye. ;)

  • hey wut kind of air brush u use and how much is it and wut kind of equipment do i need to get for the airbrush thank you

  • In order to begin to paint with the airbrush, you will need specific colors, thinners, good airbrush, compressor (or compressed air) etc.

In our web site, you can see all the tools: go to the Tutorial section, then in the side menu see on "strumenti" (italian word),

or write us to our email zoh(at)zoneofhobbies(point)it

    Bye! :)

  • hey wut kind of paint do u use ..can you use the paint that is for plastic models...if so then do we have to put any thing else with it and wut did u put in the gravity metal cup after u put the paint in...sry about all these question cuz im getting tired of getting paint bumps on my gundam using regular brushs

  • Hi. Don't worry, Let's go to the answers.

    1) We use the Enamel paints (Humbrol brand).

    2) Yes, you can use also the acrylic paints. It's a personal choice.

    3) In the airbrush, some paint needs his specific thinner (you can ask which kind where you buy the colors).

    4) After the paint (70%), I put the enamels thinner (30%).

  • i'm using a 0.05 pigment ink pen but it smugess. So what do u think is the problem or i need another marker/pen....

  • 0.05 are very much thin. Instead 0.5 are great and it can be chosen up to 0.1.

Or you can try with the pencil (micro lead) making the thin tip in chisel shape on the abrasive paper.

Another method is to make to flow the acrylic black color very diluted in the lines for capillarity (you can see my video "How to paint Gunpla Kit: Details - 01/02").

    Bye! ;)

  • @ STEVENDESTINY: The eyes are not detachable from the head. So, I had painted before the eyes and, after to have covered them, I used the airbrush with the white. If I had removed the paper mask before the white, the eyes that I had painted would already be ruined, instead I have removed it later only. You can see the final result in my video "How to paint Gunpla Kit: Final Rush! SD Gundam! - 01/01."

It is possible that someone prefers to make an other method, but my one is not wrong. ;)

  • im not trying to be a pro or wat.. im new too but i've ask alot of ppl and thats what they told me so..

  • Hi. If you are a beginner (I'm not), it was enough that you asked me an explanation... ;)

  • you should remove the face mask first before u actually air brush the helmet..

  • Why? No, I made the mask because the eyes were already painted and I had to protect them.
