Deluxe Paint had a superior grasp for the task of pixel-oriented drawing. I had the feeling that with the advent of Photoshop, something essential was invariably lost.
Wow, I use Serif Drawplus X4, which is graphics program with animation, and its' funny seeing how simple things now like typing words were a lot more complicated back then.
I bet they made this video with the Amiga. I would've loved to grow up in the 80s. Too bad I was born in 1997 after Windows became efficient enough to use a workbench base and have specific folders with specific apps =_=
Yeah, I remember Artr Gem from a few years back. There is another program, Cosmigo's Pro Motion, that's also like DPaint, with emphasis on the animation. Expensive though.

I think maybe the advent of 3d games made people care less about pixel style art.

I love how all of these old tutorials sneak up "unexpectedly" with the guy turning around exclaiming "oh, hello!"...

Well, it was pretty advanced and also incredibly easy to learn, for back then (and of the latter point, still easier than today's programs).
Yeah, text was difficult, because I believe the Amiga didn't have native fancy fonts, rather extra fonts had to be imported from disks.
Good times nevertheless.

64 colors? WOW! LOL This is funny to watch now. Must have been great back in the day. I wish I had a Amiga back then:)

Yeah, it might have been edited with Video Toaster.
And look on the bright side to being born in 1997, you'll more likely to see flying cars than us who are older.

The best Amiga paint program, my favorite.

How really weird. Just as you made this comment, I was browsing the "Back to the Roots" Amiga website.
But yeah, it was a great program. Seems a bit more polished than 4 even.

I had scanned and up-loaded the manual, with the link in the description, if you don't already have it.
Thanks for you comment.

Thanks for the comment.
Yeah, DPaint was a real time-stealer, in a way modern paint programs aren't.
By the way, I'm a fan of Public Image Lmt. too..
