I don't think Jon have an impressive singing tone but his range is fucking incredible. Easily one of the best I've heard.

These days, his range is not that huge. And it can be seen in this video, in 2:43 you can see that Jon just barely hits these notes, way worse than in older performances of this song. A big difference can be seen if you compare "Always" performances in 1995 (Wembley) and 2008 (Rock In Rio Lisboa). Yes, Jon still hits those notes but he does it just barely and doesn't sound as good as it used to be. That's what 20+ years of touring and cigarettes does to you.

This song was probably the first one of the night. Notice how Jen gets pumped up when the crowd explodes after the drum fill at the very beginning. She looks at John like "Holy smokes, you hear that?" and John shrugs like "I get that every time." Gives me chills. This is maybe the closest you can get on the internet to knowing the feeling of *being* a rock star performing on stage.

I live in NJ, and even I realize that Nashville-style music is big. Listen to Bon Jovi's songs in the past 10 yrs. There's more than a hint of Nashville in these songs and John even admits this was intentional on this very CMT show! Why do you think he would even agree to do a CMT special with a Nashville-style group?
