  • This also helped me a lot with writing a paper. Hearing someone read it aloud helps a lot.

  • i'm glad, ninjaman. poems are meant to be heard out loud, and you have to listen to them more than once to really get them. best wishes with your paper.

  • Why have I not been getting these in my inbox? I thought you'd dropped off the map and missed the finesse with which you managed to skewer the culture. Welcome back to my field of view.

  • Alfred Molina is one our greatest British actors. You might remember him as Doc Ock from Spiderman 2. This audio came from the Poetry Out Loud website, where you can find Anthony Hopkins reading Prufrock among others.

  • thank you, yes

i know, i ganked it from that site :P

    great site

do you happen to know who the speaker is for the attached video, 'too much'? (Wordsworth's "The World is Too Much with Us.)

he's a famous British actor, but I can't remember which one, and i lost the box with the details on it (it's from an old tape).

i also made a video of louise erdrich's 'advice to myself' if you're interested

take care, and thanks for your fabulous readings--they're a real treat

  • Ironically, the other tabs I have up are about men's dress clothing. I've even been learning to tie a tie. Soon I'll be a hireable mass of conformity and will be able to get on with the puttering away of my adult life. Glad to see you back at it =]

  • oh, sad sad sad

next up: 'how to tie a noose'

    nice to see you, frumpy

  • Inspirational. I can only aspire to that level of drone-ness. Back to stacking bricks in an open field

  • just stay focused on your work, and don't pause to look at the big picture, and you'll get there, dmio. if that doesn't work, try pharmaceuticals and the mass media. :P

  • As long as the Bureau of Statistics is happy, I'm happy.

individuals....you know no pesky repetitions of peoples names....i think he

  • I wish these shirts weren't so constraining. This suit coat feels like a straitjacket.

  • haven't you seen that pennilesscripple video with the different doors? what's it called...?

it's like, behind one door there's lots of money and jet-skis and cancer and diabetes and 25,000 deaths from starvation every day and world war and nukes and rape and child abuse and did i mention nukes and rape and starvation and cancer and child abuse and suicide and...?

and then behind the other door there's a healthy community with healthy people on a healthy planet.

  • door 1 is civilization. what's so great about it???

  • "let's make a deal"

you're harshing peter's mellow. he prefers witty banter to real conversation.

because after all, life is all about escape and entertainment.
