Hey ignoramus, I know you can call it a Pick-handle Barracuda. That is one of the names used for this fish in Southern Africa. The other name used is Sea Pike.

Similarly, a wahoo is called an ono in some parts of the world, or a dorado is called a dolphin.

The fact that you're unaware of this does not make the name incorrect. It simply means you're ignorant. Now please stop posting comments unless they are useful.

The fish was shot in southern Mozambique, close to the SA border. The fish was eaten. Ciguatera is pretty rare this far south of the equator. Thanks for the comment. Cheers.

Thanks for the comment. In South Africa and Mozambique the Pick-handle Barracuda is also known as a Sea-pike. Not to be confused with the Giant Barracuda. Ignorance must be bliss.

@techn9nefinn I was 12 when I posted that comment, which was when I was convinced that all spearfishermen were selfish hogs that took everything from the ocean, and some still do today but I've realized not all of them are like that, it's the trawlers and longliners that I despise now, and if you're a cautious speafisherman that respects the ocean, I don't mind at all :)
