You're basically paying twice as much for something that's only marginally better. I'd imagine a chink of that extra cash goes towards having a KTM badge on your ATV.

I was talking to a guy who wants a KTM 525 ATV so bad. He was bragging how it's the best quad in it's class, no shit dumbass. . . Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki make 450s. The only quad you can compare it to would be a Polaris. That would be like me saying the Raptor 700 is faster than the KTM 525, I would hope so, it's 175cc bigger. Kind of like when Chevy came out with the 5 cyl Colorado and bragged how it has the most hp in it's class, no shit, it has 1 more cylinder and bigger engine.

Yamaha gives wet weight, all fluids topped off. 422lbs vs 370lbs, then add 25lbs fuel, 2lbs oil, 15lbs eth/glc = 42lbs. So it's really only 10lbs lighter. The Raptor power to weight ratio is +160%, the KTM is 130% (120% adjusted). Due to gearing and rpm range the KTM might be faster in a 0-60, but the Raptor still tops out at 79mph stock. ATV manufacturers don't post hp/tq specs, China uses kw rating.

@XCRacer93 you have heard bullshit . . . mine had 125 racing hours , tore it down to install a 570 kit and cam . . . the piston/cylinder was still within specs , crank was new , no marks what-so ever on cylinder walls the engine never took oil , just have to keep oil changed regulary. the guy that told you that they need rebuild each 10 hours is jealous cause he can't buy KTM and he's stuck with an old useless bike.

That really is difficult to tell. The new yfzR has almost the same horsepower has the KTM 450 XC in stock form. Although the KTM is lighter and that could decide the match.
No it's not. Just standing by the two of them, you notice the superior quality in the KTM fit and finish. Nothing to do with the Polaris except the engine.
I don't think it will work based on just looking at an atv next to a bike. It probably won't stick out far enough to kick down without hitting the frame as well as there is no way for it to close because of the frame upright...
MAn ppl save that money for a nice brand new car. atleast you will have a ride u can ride ur girl in lol. Get a nice car save that money buy urself something that will last about 10 years.

Well, all the magazines test on the kfx 450 say that its slow...uh, and i should know, its not. And the ktm 525 isnt worth the money because a kfx450 with the "big 3" mod can beat a ktm..iv seen it happen and btw Mercedes, BMW, audi suck ass..

i will say that ktm's are nice quads and bikes but there not very reliable you want reliable go with yamaha or honda and suzuki if you go with the LTR450 and you get great power reliabilty and for a nice price unlike ktm were you got to strike oil to purchase one
you gotta be shithin me! they are just as good, if not better! and you know what? : a ktm atv you can take apart and back together in under a day, single handed. and in the case of the Suzuki: i took me half-a-day just to change piston and adjust the valves... i know what i would go for:)
After selling hondas for a long time I can tell you that is exactly right. Hondas are absolutely bullet proof just not quite as techy as some of the other brands.
hondas are bullet proof and they go good if there built right. i beat a ktm 525 with my trx 440 ex with pls 2 valve, stage 3 cam, 450r carb, and full lrd pipe
my brother raced one of these with his crf450r with a 11 oz. flywheel weight, and burned on of these 525s that had a bore kit, some sort of aftermarket cam, and full fmf system on it. bottom line, bikes are the way to go. even my friends stock yz 250 beat it.
ktm the only problem is the suspension u have to adjust it to your.Style of riding and comfert level i test drove one it was stiff but.After the dealer adjust it for my wight it was a dream.If u can test ride one u wont to buy it the only differance i could tell was.The 525 has a higher top end speed tad bit more torque.I cant wight to see what the aftermarket could do to these atv.
I had no idea KTM made quads. And polaris engines? I hate polaris with a passion because of their crap ass trannies, and horrid belt slip issues. But seeing as to how this is chain, problem solved. Their motors are pretty damn good tho, and this looks like a sweet 2WD sport quad.
The engine in the KTM XC and Polaris has 8 years already. Bullet proof engine! What brands can say they have an engine with this age and proven reliability? Yamaha, Zuki, Kawi? no way...
i've looked at these ktm's alot. I've got a polaris trail blazer with about everything done to it possibly. I'm looking for a liquied cooled 4 stroke. i live right by the gncc race iron man in crawfordsville. And most of the hills i climb are bigger than them and are own moto cross track and everything. I'm really expreienced at riding and have rode since i was 10 and i'm now 15 but have about enough saved up from my chicken bussines to buy one but do u think a ktm is right for me??
To put it simply, it's not cheap but it has top quality parts and it's the best quad around. Like Lance Schwartz said in KTM presentation, "you are basically getting a 14 thousand bike just for 9 grand..."

Yes LTR is cheaper than KTM but in no way kicks KTM ATV's ass hahahaha your dreaming...
In every single magazine test, LTR and other quads had their asses handed over LOL ktm owned them. Even the mighty Raptor 700 lost to 525XC lol
You put an LTR and a XC side by side and look at the suspension, engine, tyres, brakes, weight, comfort, build quality, etc and then come here.
And the KTM SX is right around the corner, LTR and other's don't have a chance, at least this next year...

Man KTM 450/525 SX 450/505 are the best quads in the market today. Yes they are expensive but you get what you pay for: the best!

Well, all the magazines test on the kfx 450 say that its slow...uh, and i should know, its not. And the ktm 525 isnt worth the money because a kfx450 with the "big 3" mod can beat a ktm..iv seen it happen and btw Mercedes, BMW, audi suck ass..

ok there you go its a MOD Stock they wont beat the 525XC man better believe it ;)but ofcourse it all depends on who rides em dont you think put a bad rider on a good ATV the ATV will not correct the rider but the rider will be able to fill in a few of the ATV's Flaws and KTM is good

i will say that ktm's are nice quads and bikes but there not very reliable you want reliable go with yamaha or honda and suzuki if you go with the LTR450 and you get great power reliabilty and for a nice price unlike ktm were you got to strike oil to purchase one

you gotta be shithin me! they are just as good, if not better! and you know what? : a ktm atv you can take apart and back together in under a day, single handed. and in the case of the Suzuki: i took me half-a-day just to change piston and adjust the valves... i know what i would go for:)

After selling hondas for a long time I can tell you that is exactly right. Hondas are absolutely bullet proof just not quite as techy as some of the other brands.

$11600 it's the MSRP for the 505 SX but i believe the dealers will get that number down once you let them know you are interested.
Maybe 10500, maybe less, who knows ;)
The XC also is 9K and some guys are buying them for 8K and sometimes less...

my brother raced one of these with his crf450r with a 11 oz. flywheel weight, and burned on of these 525s that had a bore kit, some sort of aftermarket cam, and full fmf system on it. bottom line, bikes are the way to go. even my friends stock yz 250 beat it.

ktm the only problem is the suspension u have to adjust it to your.Style of riding and comfert level i test drove one it was stiff but.After the dealer adjust it for my wight it was a dream.If u can test ride one u wont to buy it the only differance i could tell was.The 525 has a higher top end speed tad bit more torque.I cant wight to see what the aftermarket could do to these atv.

Polaris uses 450 and 525 KTM engines in their Outlaw 525IRS, Outlaw 525S and Outlaw 450MXR quads.

I had no idea KTM made quads. And polaris engines? I hate polaris with a passion because of their crap ass trannies, and horrid belt slip issues. But seeing as to how this is chain, problem solved. Their motors are pretty damn good tho, and this looks like a sweet 2WD sport quad.

i've looked at these ktm's alot. I've got a polaris trail blazer with about everything done to it possibly. I'm looking for a liquied cooled 4 stroke. i live right by the gncc race iron man in crawfordsville. And most of the hills i climb are bigger than them and are own moto cross track and everything. I'm really expreienced at riding and have rode since i was 10 and i'm now 15 but have about enough saved up from my chicken bussines to buy one but do u think a ktm is right for me??

To put it simply, it's not cheap but it has top quality parts and it's the best quad around. Like Lance Schwartz said in KTM presentation, "you are basically getting a 14 thousand bike just for 9 grand..."
