Denmark is a really nice, but I don't support monarchy country, but thats like 70% or Europe, plus in these countries, CAPITALISM is very hard because of high taxes but you should check out Denmark its really cool.

Of course I can speak danish :) Started speaking english when I was around 5, from watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in english to much, never really "studied" english. However, it is quite common that everyone in scandinavia can speak english, usually people are bilingual or trilingual.

Thanks for the 3 minutes monologue about the wonders of Denmark. As a coincidence though I had been recently skimming the U.N.'s Human Development Index which systematically ranks countries according to their quality of life. 2008 results: Denmark down 2 spots to number 16. Japan holding steady at number 10. So now instead of saying "almost anywhere I go will have a lower standard of living" you can say "anywhere I go besides the top 15 will seem to me to have a lower standard of living".

I spesificly didn't compare Denmarks rank to any other country, because standard of living is very hard to measure. You have to take into account how happy people are, wages, house size, tax and what you get for the tax, gender equality, working hours, freedom of speech, and much much more.

Most ranks simply take the BNP per capita, and compare it to the average amount of money the average person spends, and ranks countries as follows. Thats obviously not effeciently showing standard of living

Maybe I was being a dick, but I appreciate your point. Having lived in Japan for a few years and can say that there's NO WAY IN HELL Japan's true standard of living is higher than any western or northern european nation. When you take into account personal space, working hours, stress levels, and personal relationships with family and friends, suddenly Japan seems like a very impoverished country.

No, get your facts straight! It's the Faroese who do that, not the Danes. I should know it as I grew up in the Faroe Islands. Actually, I think they banned it because the meat was too toxic to be edible.

Actually, other coastal nations such as Norway, Iceland and Russia are still hunting whales. Japan stands out more because of eating the whale meat, however.

That is true for western countries but that hunting is for research. Laws in Japan say you can use the left over whale bits to sell on the market so it would not go to waste. So that opened up the possibility for some japanese to abuse that law. Most are quite honest in what they do the others take advantage.
