I just read some of your comments. Guys,this was not even an idea in Chase's head. I watched an interview where he explained what the ending was suppose to signify. It's suppose to portrey Tony having to look over his shoulder for the rest of his life. Notice they have him seated with his back to the wall. Yeah,this all ties in with the idea that he can never live in peace. Never just live normal and enjoy life. He will always have that thought in the back of his mind, Could today be my last?

We'll just say I have family that owns a sanitation company in NY. But my point is that I can tell you 1st hand that a lot of the show was authentic. Some of the show was a little "overly stereo typical" but a lot of it was right on the money. Wish they could get the entire cast on board for a movie..

@bankNbakeGuy The last scene was shot in Tonys' point of view, so when Tony looked up to see meadow, it went black because that's when Tony was shot dead. The audience knows that Tony is normally aware and on-guard. This scene reflects a side of Tony where he's not on guard at all, otherwise he would have noticed the hitman guy.

He wasn't a hitman, if he was he wouldn't have sat down at the bar. Point of View (POV) is normally when the camera becomes a persons eyes, and we see what they see. The POV for this last scene, however, was very constructed and carefully edited and planned. If you go back a few minutes in the scene, there's a certain pattern we can pick up;
@bankNbakeGuy eg, if you look at 0:12 and 0:13 it shows Tony looking up at AJ, then a shot of AJ looking at the menu, cuts back to Tony looking down, then shows the hitman guy walking into the bathroom. After it shows the hitman walking into the bathroom, it then shows two black dudes looking at food - showing the audience that the hitman would be behind Tony, so Tony couldn't see him, Tonys' family are all looking down at their menus so they couldn't warm Tony and when the hitman goes to escape

You're right, David Chase did want people wondering - but not for too long because he told the world in a radio interview the intention of the scene. David Chase gave fans of the show the ending it deserved - a well planned & thought out ending. I imagine that when a dedicated fan would go away and read up on the ending, they'll appreciate it for it's creative art and thank Chase for giving an ending that was really special

It is crystal clear that he was shot by the Members Only Guy. Special attention is paid to him when he walks in. The camera shows him walking to the bathroom. No one is sitting next to Tony, its the absolute perfect angle to shoot him in the head. He is shot in the head right as Meadow enters the resturant. His point of view should have shown her, but it showed nothing- blackness, because he is dead. No music, nothing. Just like he and Bobby talked about

You can believe what you want. Some people say the black ending is what Tony is seeing because he is dead and was shot in the head ( which is what I think happened). Some people say it was just a cliffhanger ending and tony is still alive. The fact is, if the crew was on board, there would be a sopranos movie made. And seeing how not as many people are interested in prequels over sequels, it's safe to assume that Tony is still alive seeing how a movie is possible.

The 'IanGordon" version is TRULY authentic and I believed this for 5 minutes. Somehow, that guy managed to edit that scene from EXT. Night even after Meadow is completely out of view with a lonely and eerie wind sound and faded to black w/ out music and silence throughout the end credits. Check it out. It looks very real!

Its very simple on this genious ending....The show ends where Tonys consciousness ends. Everything goes black and silent as it would if you got a bullet through the brain. That whole ending scene was from Toneys point of view. He watched everyone come in the diner, but when Meadow came through, the guy in the bathrrom put a round in his head.This would further emphasize the eternal nature of death.

It is crystal clear that he was shot by the Members Only Guy. Special attention is paid to him when he walks in. The camera shows him walking to the bathroom. No one is sitting next to Tony, its the absolute perfect angle to shoot him in the head. He is shot in the head right as Meadow enters the resturant. His point of view should have shown her, but it showed nothing- blackness, because he is dead. No music, nothing. Just like he and Bobby talked about

even though this is obviously fake, cuz u can obviously see some parts of the restaurant fade with the flashes lol which mean over exposure....it's really a more detailed ending. I didnt have to see who shot or got shot, it was just enough for me to understand something did not end well at all. good try.

You can believe what you want. Some people say the black ending is what Tony is seeing because he is dead and was shot in the head ( which is what I think happened). Some people say it was just a cliffhanger ending and tony is still alive. The fact is, if the crew was on board, there would be a sopranos movie made. And seeing how not as many people are interested in prequels over sequels, it's safe to assume that Tony is still alive seeing how a movie is possible.

The 'IanGordon" version is TRULY authentic and I believed this for 5 minutes. Somehow, that guy managed to edit that scene from EXT. Night even after Meadow is completely out of view with a lonely and eerie wind sound and faded to black w/ out music and silence throughout the end credits. Check it out. It looks very real!

This is FAKE! Its a part of the scene taken from 0:44-0:46 All the person done was put flashes over it with some shoddy gunshot sounds.if you look closesly, you can see the womans outline everytime a shot goes off. Shes just right to the centre of the screen.

Its very simple on this genious ending....The show ends where Tonys consciousness ends. Everything goes black and silent as it would if you got a bullet through the brain. That whole ending scene was from Toneys point of view. He watched everyone come in the diner, but when Meadow came through, the guy in the bathrrom put a round in his head.This would further emphasize the eternal nature of death.
