I'm amazed at what we have now in the 21st century. Look at my channel and you'll see what we can even buy from toy companies these days! Imagine what the future will hold! Seeing these, I can't wait to see what we'll be able to get in our homes in the future! :)
The last one is NAO, a french robot, and will be available to public for less than 7000 $ in 2011 : - fully programmable - 4 microphones for spatial voice recognition and analysis system - 2 speakers - 2 cameras - capacitive sensors placed on the top of his head - infrared and wifi connection. It can browse the web - 1 gyrometer and 1 accelerometer
@Uhiwaka82 I saw them during lab visits, robotic conferences,... it has become a yearly tradition to make an overview of the robots I have seen that year.
((( CLICK HERE ))) SEE Titan Loose to the New 8 Foot Tall KING OF ROBOTS.. Titan Had no talent. Titan Is more like a Plastic ( Puppet ) not a Robot. Titan only moves one arm and hand, looks like an big insect.. Titan Plays The Same Sound Track On Every Video..BORING - A One Trick Pony- Bye, Bye Titan. You had your day...sorry.. THE KING OF ALL ROBOTS HAS ARRIVED. GAME OVER!!
heh i can definately imagine the small yellow one guiding young children around and teaching them facts about stuff.....in the future teachers and parents will be redundant lol
OMG i loved the first and last ones! Did this first one have someone controlling him? I'd also LOVE to have that Sony "rolly" if you could play your own mp3's!
Several commentators seem to assume that these robots are all made by asians. Several of the robots are actually european, including the first robot, Justin. And some are american.
7:30, look! It's one of the walkers from star wars! Just hook some guns up, make the legs a little longer, and give the guy a clone trooper suit and you're all set. =P
The problem with many of these machines is that they are preprogrammed to pretend to appear human. I'm yet to see a robot that isn't heavily preprogrammed or a robot that can be left completely to its own devices. Some of these are still impressive though.
Speed! Where is speed!?! My friend work with robot arms that build cars, slip different stuff...they are fast like shit!!! When does humanoid will be fast and then useful?
An industrial environment is a much more known environment, while a house is completely unknown and it requires a lot of computational effort to see eg the things on the table so it requires time. Moreover moving at high speed is very dangerous in case of collision with a human (that is why industrial robots are kept away in cages).
@ToddWalther there's an example in this video as the walker is following the guy walking backwards the man almost falls over a woman kneeling behind him what if it were 300 lbs and running
@savybones But this robot doesn't weight 300lbs and is not running. Actually, he look like an handicap. I don't know he could even run. Sorry that those kind of things doesn't impressed me.
Here is my complaint. Most of these robots are made by auto companies in Japan like Toyota and Honda, and electronic companies like Sony. Why the hell isn't American companies making robots to compete??? America is not getting richer. We are getting poor. We need to start inventing!
To give a full answer would take me a whole page... First of all I'm not against military robots, but it it I'm against that the majority of the money comes from the military while other projects require also money (and those are more than toys).
Secondly military robots are changing the way a war is fought. Since the soldiers are untouchable due to the robots, the risk exists that the other camp will turn against the public and increasing the risk. So I do not think a risk free war exists with robots. I think a new set of rules of robo-ethics must be developed, stipulating how robots can be used.
It doesn't matter whether the other camp turns against the public, they already have (911), that's why we're fighting now. Robo-ethics? You don't fight to fight fair, you fight to win.
I do not know if all this technological superiority is suitable to win such a war. There must be also a political solution for the problem. Luckily there are ethics in war, problem is that terrorist groups have not signed them, only countries.
I agree with you BramVanderborght. The technology won't win the war alone but at least it will reduce the casualties until or if a political solution can be found.
ethics of war are just to decorate. there must be a treaty against nukes, but if you will invade a country with nukes, you surely get yours into ashes.
I have yet to see a full blown walking American built robot, have you? The Japanese aren't stupid. They are way ahead of us. If they are making these robots as toys, imagine what they are really making behind closed doors.
I have not seen a full blown walking American robot either. The Japanese are very intelligent, and so are we. I believe the Japanese are wasting a lot of effort on robots that behave like people. A robot doesn't have to be a humanoid to perform the same task as person. The Roomba vacuum cleaner does a much better job of cleaning a floor than the Honda Asimo could pushing a standard vacuum cleaner. Americans focus on the function of the robot, not what it looks like.
those special niche products as vacuum cleaners are very good for current solutions. If you want something that is more general purpose then I think a humanoid is a good answer so it can use the same tools as we do. Our whole environment is optimised for humans, so problably the machine that is most suitable to work in the same place is a robot with the same form and functionalities.
a bit over 6:00 some person asks how much, did the dude answer 30 thousand dollars or did i misunderstand? 30.000 bucks for a yellow hairball that wiggles?! i mean what else can it do lol
