Bravo! Very good - intonation needs work, but then it always does! Perhaps try the written middle G on the horn in D part on the F side!! Strangely the intonation was better in the minore sections!

These are not simple melodies. These were designed for virtuoosi cor natural players, not ventil horn amateurs. I admit that this is a GENIUS performance by a 13 year old that sounds like a 16 or 17 year old student! Brava to her! Magnificent, but the nuance and the effects are not that of simplicity but rather complexity and higher learned thinking. Yes all four of his concerti for horn are quite wonderful and a treat to play

Nice job Anouk! Many here seem to have advice for you. With dedication, good instruction, much practice, and frequent performance, you will enjoy increased success. I would only say that you should try to perform solos without the use of music. Sufficient practice will equip you to do so. And it will allow you to hold the horn in a more upright position which should help in many ways (I realize that, at your age, the horn might be a little heavy at this time). Stay with it.

looks like your pushing your lips to hard into the mouth piece. Should practice with as little pressure as you can. It improves everything when you get it down.You did an awesome job! Keep it up! Theres some people that are way older then you that can't do this piece as well as you did.

Well done! To have that good an air support in the age of 13 is extraordinary. It is a live performance. The first thing that goes out the window when you're nervous is the control of air (talk about fine control of muscles). This is an excellent performance for any musician and considering the age even more so.

I would have to dissagree. i think some people can and have mastered intonation in less than a year but i do agree that people learn at different rates to eachother.

From what I've seen it normally takes a long while to learn it well enough to know when you're playing in tune or what not.

No, it takes many years to master intonation. For example, Randy Garnder, horn professor at Cincinnati College Cons of Music says he still works on intonation, he studied with Farkas and sat with Blume. I think if he is still working on intonation, nobody ever fully masters intonation.
