  • Hey, while going through the Grand Palace, the sword orb was not there for me (I am playing on the wii... downloaded the game). I finished the grand palace. Am I just screwed in regards to ever getting that orb since I cannot get back in the Grand Palace? Thank you!

  • @Growfingernailsgrow always a chance to find them on the mana fortress.

  • i dont like dogs cuz 1 u always have to let them out, and our dog likes to chase anything moving so cars r a fav 4 him, and the lick you and slober all over their toys! Yuck! But my kitten is a pain in my postier!

  • Given that you don't like hitting a switch and not knowing what it did, NEVER play La Mulana.

  • cats like meat because they need to eat meat to live or thier kidneys or liver (i forget which) begin to shut down

  • My cat used to drag the 3lb tubes of ground turkey up the stairs into the loft and eat the whole thing. Then a couple hours later we look for it and it's nowhere to be found. The cat however looks quite a bit heavier. I miss him.

  • btw, did you notice those black fur wolves are called heck hounds instead of hell hounds.

  • Howcome the sword orb is there for you? it isnt for me D:

  • @IxNathannn I know it was 11 months ago you made this comment, but for your info or anyone else who reads this, all the chests with orbs in them will sort of 'catch you up' to a certain weapon level. If you miss some earlier orbs (for instance, you could miss sword orbs in Pandora and the Imperial Ruins), you will find such chests and they'll sometimes even contain more than one orb (has happened to me more than once). That's my theory anyway :)

  • I have a Golden Retriever which is supposed to go and fetch things and she doesn't want to do it. You throw her rope and she gives you a look that says "You expect me to go get that?"

  • I used to play fetch with my mom's cat and pieces of dog food by sliding the food piece clattering across the kitchen floor. She brought it back to me to toss again.

  • that cat must be SUPERCAT

  • he's top cat.

  • mmmmm steak

  • And there goes HC with the cliffhangers again!

  • Ha! the orbs must count as enemy sprites(which is why books replace them after you destroy them).

  • You know, that is probably the best explanation for that.

  • EveN *I* said "Have a GOod day" at the end of this.. IRL... wow.

  • Was Stripe the happy cat?

  • Heck Hounds? What's next, the Emperor threatening you with darnation? "My minions! Go out and ki..I mean, make the heroes see the Reaper!"

The music here is pretty cool; has a good "You're almost to the end!" feeling to it.

That was *really* cheap at the end of the boss battle; eating the hero twice in a row and killing him without any chance of getting out of the second attack (or so it appeared)..oh, I would've been so mad..

  • I've missed this! I went back and watched Chrono Trigger because I was dying for some SNES action with HCBailly narration.

    So many kitties. Yes! Yes!

  • Interesting that there was no Dryad room...it's especially interesting since I noticed that you put "Dryad" as one of this video's tags, despite the fact that you only briefly used it at the end.

  • Cool LP HC. Glad you don't spell spam the enemies to death.

  • We're going to have to do that with some bosses later on. Some of them are just too hard to hit with weapons. Plus, I don't want boss battles going on for 5-6 minutes, when they're just palette swap upgrades.

  • nice playthrough! the puzzles are mushing my brain!

  • my cat does that with a mouse. but only in the mroning

  • Nice job remembering which magic works on which switches! Granted the color scheme is a clue, but even now I still get Luna and Lumina's rooms confused.

  • Question, does JB know your putting this on youtube? :O!

Oh, and thank you for putting up a SoM video, I missed them so much . ^~^

  • Cute! The cat learns to fetch!

  • You make it seem like its simple

If only that were true T-T

  • Did your cat bring you the steak in or out of the bag?

  • It was still in the bag and very tasty once I cooked it.

  • More Secret of Mana! YAY! 5/5 for this LP and all others I love this LP The back and forth is fantastic! i love the music in the palace! Man the sprite kept getting stuck you need Nijaquad back man. Can't wait for next episode!

  • glad to see more SoM videos from you guys. i actually got SoM last weekend, so I'm gonna play along with you guys. as always, awesome work with today's episode

  • Wow, I never realized how (comparatively) short SoM is. 34 episodes and you're about two areas - albeit very long areas- away from the end. Maybe it's because SoM is fairly lean on side quests, maybe it's an action-RPG thing, or maybe it was all that content that was supposedly cut when they crammed it into a cartridge.

  • They are breezing thru this game because all trash mobs are skipped in favor of doing grinding off screen (which makes sense as an LP). On my files, I spend much more time clearing the mobs in the Grand Palace maybe taking 20-30 minutes to do. This game is still huge. Level-wise you can hit level 70 easily by the time you finish the game and this game's number of bosses puts many other games to shame. They still have 12 bosses left as well.

  • Yeah, that's a problem with making an LP of this type of game. In my test run, I killed every mob I could and barely needed to grind. In a standard RPG, I could just edit out the random battles, but I obviously can't do that here, so I need to grind a lot to make up for it. I'll have to think about how to get around that in future such LPs.

  • I enjoyed it when we saw you fight enemies a lot in this game. Since it's an action RPG, the battles are interesting and each one is unique, rather than repetitive and tedious as in most other kinds of RPG's. I know it extends the length of the LP when you show battles, but it doesn't bother me for a game like this--it's NOT really repetitive or tedious in Secret of Mana. Now that we don't see you fight most battles anymore...well, it just doesn't feel as fun, I guess.

  • @HCBailly So I am working on an LP for SoM now. I didn't do much editing off screen except for the elemental leveling and a few areas money got tight. My Grand Palace video will be part 35. Nowadays we can make videos longer than 10 minutes. The issue I have with my LP is that nobody is watching it. What I do different is that I don't talk, I use on screen dialog when relevant and that worked in my Super Metroid LP. I think I just need to advertise my LP.

  • Most of the orbs open the path to the next orb (Rather clear lowered platforms in front of all but the 1st 2 and last one) The last three orbs all have effects in the last room witch you need them all tripped in order to make it through.

(I think that they put the whip posts there.)

  • cats fecthing now interesting my cats only no how to attack :P

  • Heck Hound? I just can't get over that...

No wonder Secret of Mana is notorious for its translation :\

My cats never obey me :(

  • Haha, I'm glad I was not the only one to notice that.

  • YAY!

More Secret of Mana! you've been focusing on FF7 a lot.

Your kitties! You really need to talk about them more in your LP's!

  • yeeeeeeeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh finallyyy the next part, yesssss =)
